Mrs. Margaret York Langston

MRS. MARGARET YORK LANGSTON, age 75, of McCollum Street, Trion, Georgia passed away Friday afternoon, January 11, 2019, in a Rome hospital.  She was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 26, 1943 to the late Walter D. and Sally West York.  Mrs. Langston was a Christian, was retired nursing clerk for Oakview Nursing & Rehab Center, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Larry Hugh Langston on December 22, 2015.

            Surviving are daughters, Mickie Bradley of Trion and Becky Ownby of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; son, Jeff Langston of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren, Ethan Bradley, Hunter Bradley, Jimmy Ownby, Amber Langston, and Katie Langston; great grandchildren, Elliot Bradley and Jonah Bradley; sister, Mary LaFavor of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brothers, Larry York of Chatsworth and Dony York of Fort Worth, Texas; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 13^th, at 2:00 P.M. from Graveside in West Hill Cemetery with Ethan Bradley officiating.  Active Pallbearers Ethan Bradley, Hunter Bradley, Jimmy Ownby, Steve White, John Ownby, and David Langston; Honorary Pallbearers, Gene Langston, Reita Cabe, Nell Thomas, the Staff at Floyd Hospital 3 North, and Heyman Hospice.  The Family will receive friends Sunday from 1 until 2 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dixie Spraggins

Dixie Spraggins, 87, resident at Fite Living Center, Cartersville, GA (formerly of Trion, GA) passed away Monday, January 7, 2019. She was born on Aug 2 1931 in Lafayette, GA to the late Lizzie Bell and Joe Henry Purcell.

            Dixie is preceded in death by her husband D.F. Spraggins on November 6, 2005. Survivors are eight children: Linda (Leonard) Gandy of Cartersville, GA; David (Mary Lynn) Spraggins of Centre, AL; Diane (Tim) Walker of Jacksonville, FL; Wanda Spraggins of Cartersville, GA; Rose (Earl) Smith of Jacksonville, FL; Douglas (Janet) Spraggins of Trion, GA; Danny (Lori) Spraggins of Trion, GA; Mark (Pat) Spraggins of Trion, GA; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren; 2 sister-in-laws Jessie Purcell and Imogene Spraggins.

            Dixie loved her family and was a loyal friend and faithful Christian. Although, she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, the disease did not stop her caring actions. She continued to minister to those around her with kind words, notes, and scripture verses. She loved the cards she received from family and friends even after she was unable to read them. She never forgot the words to Amazing Grace and many of her favorite hymns.

            Dixie was a nurse by vocation and by nature. Her career began as a nurse’s aide at Trion Community Hospital. She completed LPN training at Dalton Vocational School while working for Dr. Joseph Brown, M.D. After receiving her license she worked for North Georgia Home Health, Shepherd Nursing Home, Riegel Textile, Best Manufacturing, Northwest Georgia Regional, and retired from Walker County Health Dept.

Dixie moved from her home in Trion to Fite Living Center in April 2011. She found ways to stay busy. She tended a flower garden outside her window. She picked her stethoscope back up and conducted weekly blood pressure checks for residents and staff. She helped with laundry when she could get away with it. She would have cooked if allowed.

Visitation will be held at Earle Rainwater Funeral, Summerville, GA on Wednesday, January 9th from 6 until 8 p.m.  A Memorial service celebrating the life of Dixie Spraggins will be held at the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 with Rev. Charlie Marus and Rev. David Autry officiating, interment in Trion Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in to the Alzheimer’s

Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Dixie’s memory.

Helen Marie Oehler

HELEN MARIE OEHLER, age 83, of Milton Circle, Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, at her residence.  A native of Chicago, Illinois, She was  born on January 26, 1935, was a daughter of the late Walter S. and Helen Schmidt Johnson.  Mrs. Oehler was an administrative assistant in health care, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late John Abbott, I.

            Surviving are daughter, Kathy Cusmano of Fla.; sons-Robert Abbott of Ohio and John Abbott of Summerville; Six Grandchildren and One Great Grandchild survive.

            In keeping with Mrs. Oehler’s wishes there will not be a formal service.

BOHANON

MR. HUGH “BO” BOHANON, age 82, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Friday afternoon, January 4, 2019, at his residence.  He was born on December 21, 1936 to the late Gordon and Clara Riley Bohanon.  Mr. Bohanon was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force, and was an electrician. 

            Surviving are His wife, Mary Louise Bohanon; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Nida Bohanon and Waymon and Sally Bohanon; grandchildren, Casey and Jaclyn Bohanon, Chelsea Johnson, Courtney and Cory Barnes; great grandchildren, Dorian Johnson, Mylie Barnes, Mavrik Barnes, Avery Bohanon; several Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 6^th, at 2:00 P.M. from graveside in Lyerly Cemetery with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating.  Active Pallbearers Casey Bohanon, Corey Barnes, Dan Logan, Benny Sprayberry, Jim Warnock, and Bill Bandy.  In lieu of flowers the Family suggest contributions to the Parkinson’s organization or American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Naomi Davison

MRS. JOYCE NAOMI DAVISON, age 83, of Gray Street, Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday morning, December 29, 2018, at her residence, after a long battle with Alzheimers.  She was born in Berryton, Georgia on October 15, 1935, a daughter of James Ranson and Mae Dell Osborne Tedder.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Grant Davison; they worked side by side many years in service to the Lord, as Preacher and Preacher’s Wife.  The last congregation they were blessed to attend was Lookout Hall Church of Christ.  She was a very special Mother and Nana, loved by many.

            Survivors include daughters, Becky Hoglund and Gartrelle Davison; son, Richard Grant Davison, II; grandchildren, Stefan Hoglund and Wendy Patrick, and Heather Breese; great grandchildren, Cody and Amber Keen, Carly Keen, and Sydnie Hoglund; great great grandchildren, Sophia Grace Keen and Harrison Ray White; sister, Pat Stanley; several special Nieces and Nephews, many special friends including Chris and Lily Keen, Jared Wigley, Tanner White, and Angel Meadows.

            Funeral service will be held Monday, December 31^st, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Josh Daniel and Chris Woods officiating.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M.  The Family request no flowers and suggest contributions to the Gospel Broadcasting Network, 8900 Germantown Road, Olive Branch, Miss.-38654 or the Alzheimers Association.
