MR. WILLIAM R. “BILL” SHAMBLIN, age 80, of Highway #337-Summerville, Georgia, Teloga Community, passed away Monday afternoon at his residence following an extended illness, he was born on April 23, 1930, a son of the late Luther A. and Georgia Carver Shamblin. He was preceded in death by brothers Mack A., James L., Guy A., Robert L., and Charles C. Shamblin and sister Annie M. Shamblin. Mr. Shamblin was a member of Beersheba Presbyterian Church, where he served as Trustee, and an ordained Elder. He was presented the honor of Elder Emeritus. He organized a Boy Scout Troop in the Teloga Community and served as Scout Master for a number of years. He retired from Mount Vernon Mills, Trion, GA in 1995.

Surviving are His wife of 60 years Ruby Jo Keen Shamblin; son and daughter-in-law William Douglas and Keitha Cash Shamblin, Sr. Grandchildren and spouses, Tonya R. and Kevin Woods, and William Douglas and Beverly Shamblin, Jr.; Great Grandchildren: Brianna, Billy and Ben Woods.


Funeral services will be Thursday, March 31, at 3:00 p.m. from the Beersheba Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ronald Ragan and Rev. Paul Bayerl officiating, interment in Macedonia Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be At Peace Hospice, North Georgia Home Health and members of The Ann M. Stubbs Sunday School Class of Beersheba Presbyterian Chuch. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests Memorial contributions be made to Beersheba Presbyterian Church.

MS. MARTHA SUE HENSLEY, age 72, of Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 23, 2011, in a Rome hospital. A daughter of the late Sam and Lois Golden Westbrook, Ms. Hensley was born September 10, 1938, was Baptist by faith and retired from Mohawk Industries and Walmart. Ms. Hensley was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Westbrook and Freddie Westbrook.

Survivors include one Son and Daughter-in-law, David and Doris Wilson of Menlo; Two Brothers, Dartey Westbrook of Trion, and Phillip Westbrook of Armuchee. Grandchildren, April and Morgan Laney of Trion; Charlie Wilson of Summerville; Great Grandchildren, Austen, Joshua and Landon Wilson; Chandlar, Skylar, Brent and Ashton Laney; Former husband Charles Hensley of Trion.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m from West Hill Cemetery with James Westbrook officiating. Active Pallbearers will be O. J. Ford, Dylan Ford, Butch Cordle, Butch-E Cordle, Sammy Westbrook and Bobby Westbrook. Honorary pallbearers will be Friends of Walmart. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p. m. at the Funeral Home.

MRS. WILMA LIVELY (MS. WILMA) HUNTER, age 82, of Raymond Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning at her residence. A native Chattooga Countian She was born to the late Roy and Ethel Roberts Burke on April 22, 1928. Ms. Wilma was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, was retired clerk for Golden Gallon, and was preceded in death by husbands Ray Lively and Ed Bryant, son-Jack Lively, sister-Daisy Ellenburg, and stepson-David Hunter.

Surviving are husband-Horace Hunter; daughters & husbands-Donna Hogue of Summerville, Betty F. & Steve Nelson of Rockwood, TN., Melanie & Dennis Howard of Summerville; son-Charles Wayne Burke of Summerville; step daughter & husband-Linda & Sid Henderson; step son & wife-Charles & Brenda Hunter; step son & wife-Larry & Diane Hunter all of Summerville; brother-Charles Burke of Silvania, AL.; 24 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren; several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Minister Tommy Broome and Johnny Todd officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. MS. SUSIE BACHELOR, age 53, of Bankson Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, Mach 20, 2011, in a Rome hospital. Ms. Bachelor was born in Floyd County, Georgia on November 5, 1957 a daughter of the late Archie Lee and Anna Lee Howell Pollard. She formerly worked in the assembly line at Roper Corporation.

Survivors include-sons-Joe Bachelor of Trion and Justin Bachelor of Summerville; grandchildren-Zane Bachelor, Carter Bachelor, Amber Bachelor, Abbie Wells, and Emily Bachelor; several loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24th, at 3 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor John Leatherwood and Joe Bachelor officiating, interment in Green Hills Memory Gardens. MR. WILLIAM D. ELROD, age 55, of Fayetteville, Georgia formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday afternoon in a Rome hospital following a sudden illness. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia He was born on July 29, 1955, and was the only child of the late Ralph W. and Ada Margaret Duff Elrod. Mr. Elrod was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia and a real estate agent for the ERA Sunrise Group.

Surviving are wife-Martha McCrorey Elrod; daughter-Kimber Elrod of Jasper, GA.; son-Brandon Elrod of Rome; step daughter-Stacie Edwards of Madison, Ga.; step sons-Todd Edwards of Athens, Ga. and Ryan Edwards of Fayetteville; grandsons-Sawyer Edwards and Hudson Edwards.

Memorial service will be held Sunday, March 20th, at 4:00 P.M. from the New Hope Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Georgia. MR. HENRY L. “Buddy” WOOTEN, age 71, of Willow Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday evening, February 28, 2011, in a Rome hospital. Born in Rainesville, Alabama on March 6, 1939, He was a son of William Rother and Lillie Belle Willoughby Wooten of Summerville. Mr. Wooten attended the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Best Mfg. Company, Finishing Department. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Martha Elaine Reynolds Wooten, a sister the late Carol Helton, and brothers- the late Truman Wooten and the late Billy Fayne Wooten.

Surviving are His Parents; A daughter and son-in-law-Terree & Greg Comer of Albertville, AL.; two sons and daughter-in-law-Tony & Charlene Wooten of Gaylesville, AL.; and Randal Wooten of Summerville; sister and brother-in-law -Diane & Larry Hunter of Summerville; grandchildren-Tommy Shane Miller of Summerville, Shellie Nicole Dixon of Albertville, Al., Allie Jo Wooten, and Matthew Wooten both of Summerville; Darrell & Melissa Mitchell and Tracy & Michelle Mitchell of Gaylesville, AL; Great Grandson Nicholas Connor Dixon of Albertville, AL.
