Mrs. Ruby Cordle

MRS. RUBY CORDLE, age 89, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017, evening in the local nursing home.  She was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late W. W. and Margaret Dobbs Keith on July 20, 1927.  Mrs. Cordle was Baptist by Faith, a retired nurse, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Wesley R. Cordle, daughter, the late Elaine Bennett, brothers, Clyde Keith, Glenn Keith, Melvin Keith, Seldon Keith, and Billy Jack Keith

            Surviving are granddaughters and spouses, Troy Pettett Wilson and Kim Wilson and Lea and Charlie Crabtree; great granddaughter, Bailey Johnston,  all of Summerville; brothers, W. J. Keith, Troy Keith, Roger Keith, and Boyce Keith; several Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 29th, at 2:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Helton officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Charlie Crabtree, Jerry Eller, Dwayne Tinney, Zach Pettett, Jimmy Bennett, and Shaun Wooten.  The Family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.  The Family request no flowers and suggest contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mrs. Edith Virginia Jones Hayes

MRS. EDITH VIRGINIA JONES HAYES, age 86, of Dawsonville, Georgia, formerly of Trion, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, evening at her residence.  She was born in Trion on January 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Sherllie and Willie Mae Marshall Jones.  Mrs. Hayes is a graduate of Trion High School, a member of the Bice Memorial Baptist Church, and was retired executive reservations specialist for Eastern Airlines. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Alec Hayes on June 16, 2000.

            Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Hayes and David Richardson; son, James M. Hayes all of Dawsonville; granddaughter & spouse, Shannon and David Mayer; great grandchildren Chloe and Lawson Mayer; sister-in-law, Faye Jones; brothers-in-law, Shorty Hawkins and Billy Hayes.

            Visitation will be Monday, January 23rd, from 1 until 3 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with burial to follow in Trion Cemetery with Dr. Warren Moorhead officiating.

Mr. William C. "Bill" Worsham

MR. WILLIAM C. “BILL” WORSHAM, age 76, off Greenhill Memorial Garden Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness.  Mr. Worsham was born in Trion, Georgia on April 16, 1940, a son of the late William Edward and Grace Pauline Gilley Worsham.  He was a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force, attended the Pennville Church of Christ, and was retired computer operator and security from Mount Vernon Mills.  Mr. Worsham was preceded in death by a sister, the late Sandra Worsham.

            Surviving are His wife, Kay Worsham; daughter and spouse, Laura & Derkise Graham; son and spouse, Jeremy & Brenda Worsham; grandchildren, Jay Williams, Wendy Worsham, Jud Williams, and Kylin Graham.

            Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 19th, at 10:30 A.M. from Graveside in Greenhills Memory Garden with Minister Robby Eversole officiating.  Active Pallbearers Benny Sprayberry, Erick Housch, Ben Housch, David Parker, Derek Parker, and Charles Cooper.  The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Miss Louise Annette Newman

MISS LOUISE ANNETTE NEWMAN, age 94, of Summerville, Georgia died Saturday, January 14, 2017 Riverwood Remembrance Village.  Miss Newman was born in Sevierville, Tennessee on March 13, 1922, a daughter of the late James Harrison Newman and Nora Ridley Newman.  She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Rome, Georgia, and was an employee of Batty State Hospital for 33 years.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Newman and four sisters Ethel Lois Black, Bess Kirk, Roby Mosley, and Gladys Smithson.

            She is survived by a host of Nieces, Nephews, Great, Great, and Great, Great, Great Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Pastor Jack Karch officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden.  Active Pallbearers Bobby Smithson, Terry Smithson, Steve Smithson, Mitchell Peek, Brian Ozment, and Taylor Ozment.  Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until the hour of service at the Funereal Home.

Mrs. Sally York


MRS. SALLY W. YORK, of Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017, in the local nursing home.  A native of Murray County, Georgia, She was born to the late Robert and Lula Maude Greene West, on June 11, 1920.  Mrs. York was a member of the Nazarene Church and retired from Health Care.  She was preceded in death by her husband the late Walter Davis York, son, the late Walter Charles York, grandson the late Michael (Mikey) Lamar Greg White, granddaughter the late Amy Louise Langston, and son-in-law the late Larry Langston.

            Surviving are daughter, Margaret Langston of Trion; sons, Larry York of Chatsworth, Don York of Ft. Worth, TX.; sister, Leaty Patterson; brother, Bill West; 15  Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 15th, at 4:30 P.M. from Graveside in West Hill Cemetery, Mickie Bradley conducting.  Active Pallbearers Steve White, J. R. York, Brian York, Ethan Bradley, Jacob Smolik, Hunter Bradley; Honorary Pallbearers (Her second family) the entire Staff & Friends of Oak View Nursing & Rehab. Center, special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and C N A’s who cared for and loved Her as if She was their Granny also.  Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2:30 til 4:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
