Sprayberry, Mrs. Opal Marie

MRS. OPAL MARIE SPRAYBERRY, age 94, of Ridgeway Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.  A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born to the late Roland and Gussie Johnson White on January 3, 1919.  Mrs. Sprayberry was retired from the Spinning department of Riegel Textile Corporation.

Surviving are daughter-Janice Strickland of Summerville; sons-Richard Peace of Trion and Frankie Peace of Summerville; 10 Grandchildren, a number of Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31st, at 12 noon from the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Powell officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden.  Pallbearers Lamar Wilson Chad Lanier, Sterling Peace, Tommy Dover, Robbie Dover, Charles Woody.  Visitation Thursday from 11 A.M. until the service

Richardson, Rev. Jack H.

REV. JACK H. RICHARDSON, age 88, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013, at his residence.  Born in Gillette, Wyoming on January 14, 1925, He was a son of the late Bert E. and Johnnie Eugenia Hair Richardson.

At an early age Rev. Richardson moved to Dalton, Georgia, attended Whitfield County Schools, and served in the U. S. Navy during WW II.  He was graduated from Truitt-McConnell College and Mercer University in Georgia, and Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky.  He was a Minister of the Gospel having pastored the following Baptist Churches Mountaintown in Ellijay, Hill City in Calhoun, Dug Gap in Dalton, Tunnel Hill in Tunnell Hill, McConnell Memorial in Hiawassee, and Elk Creek in Taylorsville, KY.  Rev. Richardson retired from the Georgia Baptist Convention, in 1992, having served Chattooga, Gordon, and Memorial Associations as Missionary for 20 years.  He was a member, Deacon, choir member, and teacher/organizer of the Seekers Sunday School Class of Trion First Baptist Church.

            Surviving are His wife, Jean E. Richardson; daughters & spouses-Amy and Dale Cruse of Dalton and Ann Marie and Chet Hollomon of Rome; grandchildren-Tyler Cruse, Richard Lewis, Amy Sarah Lewis; great grandchildren-William Lewis and Piper Lewis; sisters-Jean Hogsehead of Dalton, Frances Silvey of Ringgold, Carol Hammond, Decatur, TN, and Pat Toland of Sanford, FL; brother-Harold Richardson of Jacksonville, FL; several Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. from the Trion First Baptist Church with Dr. Floyd Roebuck and Dr. Warren Moorhead officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Deacons and the Seekers Sunday School Class of Trion First Baptist Church.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers the Family request contributions to the Building Fund of Trion First Baptist Church, #95 Church St.-Trion, Georgia-30753.

Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Myrtis Martha Shipp


MRS. MYRTIS MARTHA SHIPP FITZPATRICK, age 89, of Ramsey Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday evening in the local nursing home.  A native of LaFayette, Georgia She was born to the late Rev. W. H. Swift and Effie Greer Swift on October 2, 1923.  Mrs. Fitzpatrick was retired from the weaving department of Pepperell Mills and a member of Berryton Church of God.  She was preceded in death by first husband-the late Ray Shipp and second husband the late Shields Fitzpatrick, a daughter-the late Terresa Green, grandson-the late Joey Green, three Brothers and two Sisters also preceded Her.

Surviving are daughter-Anita Johnston; granddaughters-Rhonda Wofford & Pam Green; sisters-Gladys Crowe of Rossville and Margie Oaks of Rome; grandson-Marty Green; great granddaughters-Brittany Rhinehart & Marti Green; great grandson-Brody Lathem; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. W. E. Cox and Rev. Gary Howell officiating, interment in LaFayette Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers, Malcolm Pickle, Brody Lathem, Marty Green, Rick Green, Byron Wofford, and Randall Cagle; Honorary Pallbearer-Thomas Fortune.  Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Sunday from 6 til 8 P.M.

Gladney, Mrs. Louise Nelson

MRS. LOUISE NELSON GLADNEY, age 97, of Hwy. #48-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.  A native of Berryton, Georgia, She was born to the late Robert Lee and Vashti Bailey Nelson on November 1, 1915.  Mrs. Gladney attended the Berryton Church of God and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Ben F.-“Brownie” Gladney, son, the late Lamar Gladney, daughter, the late Joyce Virginia Haygood, and sisters, the late Roberta McGraw and Opal Wilson.

Surviving are daughter-in-law-Montez Wilson Gladney; granddaughter and spouse, Kaye & Preston Greer; great grandchildren, Will Greer and Kailen Greer all of Summerville; special nieces, who helped care for Mrs. Gladney, Mildred Cordle and Mildred McGraw; nephew, Ollie (John) McGraw; several Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 27th, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Preston Greer, Will Greer, Kailen Greer speaking and Rev. Broome, Jerrie Ann Henderson Watson

JERRIE ANN HENDERSON WATSON BROOME of Trion, Georgia died January 15, 2013.  At the time of her death she was a resident of Our Country Home, a private care facility in Lafayette, Georgia. She was born in Trion Hospital on October 13, 1938, oldest daughter of the late Berry Gordon and Mabel Henderson. Survivors include her four children, Leisha Dawn Watson Ehrenhalt of Atlanta, Dana Lynn Watson Young and son-in-law Adam of Lafayette, Georgia, Bradley Eugene Watson of Boulder, Colorado and Hugh Taylor Watson of Asheville, North Carolina, in  addition to a brother, Johnny Clarence Henderson of Lafayette, Georgia and a sister Billie Jean Henderson Stovall of Woodbury, Georgia, 9 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 19th at 1:30 PM at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in Summerville, Georgia, conducted by Dr. Warren Morehead, followed by a graveside service at the Chattooga Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lawson, Mrs. Leona Webb

MRS. LEONA LAWSON, age 91, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, in the local nursing home.  A native of LaGrange, Georgia, She was born to the late Luther Cleveland and Ola McCormick Webb on December 31, 1921.  Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, the late Lewis Levi Lawson, a son Jessie Shuman, Jr., and sisters, Frances Abercrombie and Dorothy Allmon died previously.

            Surviving are daughter-Lillian Daniel of Trion; son-William Thomas Shuman of Gainesville; brother-in-law-Leonard Allmon of Lindale; grandchildren-Cindy Clark, Rhonda Stowe, Lisa Parks, Tommy Shuman, Jonathan Shuman, & Jessie Lamar Shuman; nine Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 15th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Sanford Deberry officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff of Oak View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  The Family will receive friends @ the Funeral Home Tuesday from noon until the hour of service.
