MR. JERRY R. FRADY, age 73, of Fish Hatchery Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013. A native of Lyerly, Georgia He was born to the late Herman Walker and Emily Everet Frady on May 12, 1939. Mr. Frady was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of American Legion Post #129 and retired from G. T. E. in 1995. Surviving are wife-Jamie Hughes Frady; daughters-Tammy Smith and Chasidy Frady both of Summerville, and Lori Mobbs of Cedar Bluff, AL.; brother and spouse-Charles and Kathryn Frady of Summerville. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Brother Tommy Pledger and Brother Paul Martin officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. MR. LATHANIEL DUNAWAY, age 86, of Halls Valley Drive, Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his residence. Native to Monroe, Georgia, He was a son of the late Clarence Lyzander and Irene Hardigree Dunaway. He was a member of the Trion First United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, and was retired rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Dunaway was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Haygood Dunaway on July 8, 2004, and a sister the late Glenda Bennett. Surviving are daughter-Ellen (Allen) Adair of Marietta; son-Barry (Susan) Dunaway of Calhoun; sister-Sherry Watkins of Douglasville; grandchildren-Robby and Joey Dunaway, Emily, Claire, and Anna Faith Adair. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. David Autry and Rev. Jennifer Andone officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Friday, April 26th, from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. MR. DAVID WILSON HALL, III, age 38, of Cloudland, Georgia passed away Friday, April 19, 2013. Born in Scottsdale, Arizona on October 17, 1974, He was preceded in death by mother-the late Alice Peterson Hall, Surviving is His father-David W. Hall, II of Satellite Beach, FL. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 27th, at 12 noon from the Cloudland Presbyterian Cemetery, with Rev. Dan Steere officiating. MR. CARL D. SANFORD, age 71, of Holland-Chattoogaville Road, Lyerly, Georgia passed away Friday (October 5, 2012). A native of Round Mountain, Alabama, He was born to the late Cicero and Rena Ward Sanford on December 17, 1940. Mr. Sanford graduated Mississippi State University on a football scholarship and began a forty year manufacturing Executive career in Summerville, Georgia with Georgia Rug Mill, later Bigelow-Sanford Rug Mill; then to Canada, then with BASF/Honeywell in Dalton. Afterward retiring to the 750 acre Family farm on Holland-Chattoogaville Road. Surviving are His wife-Tippy Sanford; sons-Colter Sanford of Chattoogaville and Tyler of Summerville; grandchildren-Carlie Sanford, Colton Sanford, Ayla Sanford, and Cason Sanford; sister-Dixie Messer of Cedar Bluff, AL; brothers-Sam Sanford of Cedar Bluff, AL and D.C. Sanford of Jamestown, Al; several Nieces and Nephews. Entombment service will be held Sunday, April 21st, at 2:30 P.M. on the Family Farm in Holland Community. MS. JEAN KAY, age 73, of Cherry Street-Trion, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, morning in a Rome hospital. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Albert Croy and Everene Henderson on February 28, 1940. Ms. Kay was Baptist by Faith, retired from Mohawk Industries, and was preceded in death by a sister and brother. Surviving are daughter-Kim Kay (Albert) Palmour of Summerville; sons-James Bradley Kay of Trion and Kenneth Lee (Hannah) Kay of Ringgold; grandchildren-Keith (Rhiannon) Morrison, Preston Morrison, Jeremy Guinn, Cameron Kay, Darian Kay, Donavan Kay, Amanda Kay, Carmen Palmour, Alexandra Palmour, and Marianna Palmour; great grandchildren-Stella Morrison, Ashby Morrison, Jared Guinn, Jordon Guinn, and Danielle Guinn; several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins also survive. Graveside, Family Only, service will be held Saturday, April 20th, in Union Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the Family suggest contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc. of the Alzheimers Assoc. Martin, Mr. Billy Joe Sr.

MR. BILLY JOE MARTIN, SR. age 80, of Highway #48-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, in a Ft. Oglethorpe hospital.  A native of Round Mountain, Alabama He was born to the late Fred and Cledie Timmerman Martin on July 1, 1932.  Mr. Martin was a member of Alpine Community Church, Veteran of Korean Conflict, and retired CEO Technician with General Telephone Company in 1991 after 37 years of service.  He was preceded in death by a son the late Jack Warren.

            Surviving are His wife-Ann Abernathy Martin; daughter-Brenda Bearden of Summerville; son and spouse-Billy, Jr. and Cindy Martin of Summerville; granddaughters-Chris Ann and Eric Davenport and Amy Martin; grandsons-Todd and Jamie Bearden and Zack Bearden; great grandsons-Jarred Bearden, Raidyn Davenport, and Reece Davenport; brothers and spouses-Winston and Lavern Martin of Eatonton, Wallace and Ellen Martin of Menlo, Charlie Frank and Kaye Martin of  Lawton, Oklahoma, Greg and Debbie Martin of Cloudland; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
            Funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7th, at 4:00 P.M. from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Pledger officiating.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Alpine Community Church and are asked to assemble at the Cemetery Sunday at 3:45 P.M.  At Mr. Martin’s request, there will be no visitation.

Smith, Mrs. Debbie Laney

MRS. DEBBIE LANEY SMITH, age 60, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, evening at her residence following an illness.  Born in Augusta, Georgia on July 9, 1952; She was a daughter of the late Morgan Gilbert and Lola Mae Cleveland Laney.  Mrs. Smith was formerly a CNA for Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home and was Baptist by Faith.  She was preceded in death by brothers-Albert Laney, Gathan “Gator” Laney, and Morgan Laney.

            Surviving are husband-David James Smith; daughters-Diana Gaston of Tunnel Hill, Jennifer Smith of Chatsworth, and Amanda Smith of Tunnel Hill; sons-Gilbert Sims of Tunnel Hill and Randal Battles, Jr. of Trion; sister-Vera Mae Laney of Trion; brother-Cecil Laney of Summerville; eleven Grandchildren, one Great Grandson, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 7th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Howell officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery, Active Pallbearers Vamp, H. L., Joe, Ron,Robert, Buck.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 6 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
