Mrs. Dorothy Jean Siffles

MRS. DOROTHY JEANNIE SIFFLES, age 58, of Back Berryton Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, evening, in a Rome hospital.  She was born on December 17, 1956, in Trion, Georgia, a daughter of the late Robert “Monk” and Dorothy Faye Hill Mann.  Mrs. Siffles was Holiness by Faith, retired assembly crew leader for Wire Tech, ITD; She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, the late Savannah Siffles.

            Surviving are Her husband, Hollis Siffles; sons and spouses, Lamar & Patricia Siffles, Jr., Roger, Sr. & Amanda Siffles; grandchildren, Cody & Stephanie Siffles, Ryan & Shelby Siffles, Brandon Siffles, Roger Siffles, Jr., Isaiah Siffles, Emily Siffles, and Caitlin Siffles; sister, Shirley Shepherd; brothers and spouse, Billy Mann, James & Beverly Mann; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 22nd , at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Junior Evans officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Cody Siffles, Brandon Siffles, Ryan Siffles, Isaiah Siffles, Roger Siffles, Jr., Tim Hathcock, Vernon Ash; Honorary Pallbearers members of the New Faith Church.  The Family will receive friends Saturday at the Funeral Home from 6 until 8 P.M.

Miss Willie Mae "Polly" Warren

MISS WILLIE MAE “POLLY” WARREN, age 91, of Penn Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, in the local health care. A Chattooga County native, She was born to the late William Dewitt and Hattie Belle Woods Warren on June 15, 1923. Ms. Warren was a member of the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from the cloth room of Mount Vernon Mills after 37 years of service. She was preceded in death by siblings, Frances Green, Louise Warren, Nettie Owens, and Jules D. Warren.

Surviving are niece, Lorene Pinson, nephew, Jimmy Green, thirteen Great Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Miles Phillips officiating, entombment in Greenhills Memory Garden. The Family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mattie Lee Smith Broome

MRS. MATTIE LEE SMITH BROOME, 89, of Espy Street, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, morning. She was born on December 31, 1925, Gaylesville, Alabama, daughter of the late Harrison Teen and Lora Livingston Smith. Mrs. Broome attended Gaylesville Grammer School until 1939 when the family moved to Summerville. She attended & graduated from Trion High School in 1945, was graduated from Carrol Lynn Business School in Rome in 1947. She was employed with National Life & Accident Ins. Co. holding many office positions, eventually served as Cashier and Office Supervisor, retiring after 35 years.Was preceded in death by Her husband, the late Paul Broome on September 28, 2010, sisters, Carris Smith, Ola Smith Cochran, Edna Smith Beck, & Flora Inez Smith, brothers, James R. Smith, and Milton O. Smith. Mrs. Broome was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church since 1958, a member of the Dorcus Sunday School Class, adult choir member, & member of the senior “Joy Club.

Surviving are nieces, Elaine Beck DeBerry & Tonya Smith Pierce, nephews, James Lamar Smith, Harrison Smith, & Milton Otis Smith, great nieces, Lori DeBerry Edwards, Stephanie DeBerry Burke, Crystal Lemming Paris, Adrieanna Paulie, Angelica Pierce, Jennifer Smith Norton, & Heather Smith Trapp, great nephews, Billy Don DeBerry, Jr., Marty, Tracy, Matthew, Alan, & Kevin Smith; step daughter, Peggy Tucker, 5 step Grandchildren,12 step Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 15th, at 4:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Ricky Biddle and Dr. David Hunter officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery, pallbearers Billy Don DeBerry, Jr., Lamar, Tracy, Milton Otis, & Alan Smith, & Eddie Burke. Mr. James R. Smith

MR. JAMES R. SMITH, Sr., age 87, of 4th Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning, February 11, 2015, in the local nursing home. He was born on September 20, 1927, a son of the late Jim and Mattie Hammitt Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late, Vecterel Mae Hawkins Smith on November 25, 2006, also a son, the late Kenneth R. Smith and a daughter, the late Paula Denise Bryan. Mr. Smith was retired third shift Supervisor from the former Bigelow-Sanford Rug Mill.

Survivors include 2 sons, Rick Smith and Eddie Smith; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Bud Davis officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers Neal Black, Will Maples, Eric Ware, Danny Wooten, Ricky Hammond, Jason Gilleland, Bill Esell, Keith Morris. Mrs. Virginia Jo Smith

Mrs. Virginia Jo Smith, Age 82, of Marietta GA, passed away on February 8th, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Born on April 27, 1932, the oldest daughter of Daniel Spencer and Lillie Mae Simmons Chadwick. A native of Cloudland GA, Jo had relocated to Marietta, GA 45 years ago through her employment that she so proudly called her second home where she single handedly raised her two daughters, Pam & Joy. Virginia loved her daughters and sons in law…….but, most of all her grandchildren and then along came those great grand babies that brought a twinkle to her eye. Mrs. Smith retired from Brown and Brown, Chamblee GA after decades of service with our extended family William and Oneida Brown. She was an avid sports fan of NASCAR and her Atlanta Braves. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is predeceased by her parents, D.S. & Lillie Mae Chadwick, Daughter, Joy Smith Morris and brother, Jimmy Douglas Chadwick. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Smith-Caudell, (L Ray Caudell), Acworth GA and son in law, Charles Morris, Marietta GA. Three grandsons, Andrew Morris, Canton GA, J. Levi Caudell, & Jacob Darden Caudell, both of Acworth, GA. A granddaughter, Katherine Coppola, Marietta GA. Four great-granddaughters, Isabelle, Lily and Julianna Morris, and Emma Caudell. Three great-grandsons, Julian Ezra Caudell & Jacob Tanner Caudell and Rocco Coppola. Survivors include brothers, Billy Chadwick and Tommy Chadwick, Cloudland GA and sister, Shirley Love, Cloudland. Numerous, nieces and nephews also survive. 

Services will be held Wednesday, Feburary 11th, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earl Rainwater Funeral Home, Summerville, GA with Rev. Walter Brandon officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from noon until the hour of service. Pall Bearers: Levi Caudell, Andy Morris, Marcey Yancey, Jacob Caudell and Ronnie Chadwick, Clint Chadwick, Dana Yancey & Nick Stout. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Olive Methodist Church, Cloudland GA. Her daughter requests donations be made to Safepath Advocacy for Child Abuse, 736 Whitlock Ave., Marietta GA 30064 in lieu of flowers.

Mrs. Ollie Belle Cash

MRS. OLLIE BELLE CASH, age 88, of Scoggins Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday morning, February 8, 2015, in the local nursing home. A native of Ozark, Alabama, She was born to the late Frank and Ollie B. Hollingsworth Spurlock on December 10, 1926. Mrs. Cash was a School Teacher and for many years operated Ollie Cash Day Care Center until retirement. A member of Son Rise Community Church, She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Jack Cash.

Surviving are sons-Jackie Cash and Andy Cash; grandchildren-Missy Cash Armstrong, Christie Cash Sellers, Kimberly Cash Mitchell, Andrea Cash, Jason- Cash; great grandchildren-John Evan Armstrong, Elizabeth Sellers, Andrew Sellers, Allie Mitchell, Ella Woods, Lauren Cash, and Brooklyn Cash.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11th, at 4:00 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Chip Smith and Rev. Ms. Nancy Crider

MS. NANCY CRIDER, age 71, of Smith Rail Road, Lyerly, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at her residence. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Leonard and Eva Lois Dover Green on January 7, 1944. Ms. Crider was a member of Berryton Baptist Church and was preceded in death by son, Jay Crider, granddaughter, the late Starr Bowers Petrie, and brothers & sister-in-law, the late Richard Green, Larry Green, Ray & Terresa Green, and Jerry Green.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Angie & Jeff Bowers of Jacksonville Beach, FL; grandson, J. J. Bowers; three Great Grandchildren, sisters % brothers-in-law, Betty June & Wayne Pope of Menlo, Charlotte & Terry Woody of Berryton, and Sadie & Ronnie Croy of Lyerly; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Berryton Baptist Church, with Rev. Mickey Skates and Rev. Robert J. Brown officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Curtis Clint Bailey

MR. CURTIS CLINT BAILEY, age 86, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015, afternoon following a short illness. He was born in Dekalb County, Alabama on October 22, 1928, a son of the late Carl Benjamin and Pearlie Mae Bailey. He was retired Used Car Dealer and Baptist by Faith. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife the late Mary Evelyn Fulmer Bailey.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gary Colbert; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kathy Bailey; grandsons and spouses, Ben Bandy and Angie Tanner, Jake and Miriam Bailey, and Stacey and Paige Colbert; six Great Grandchildren; one Great Great Grandson; sisters, Betty Holder and Ruby Snow; several Nieces and Nephews.

There will be a private service for the Family.
