Mrs. Betty Jane McNeil

MRS. BETTY JANE McNEIL, age 80, of Marietta, formerly of Menlo, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, morning in Marietta.  A native of Campbellton, Georgia, She was born to the late William Hollis and Sarah Hammett Lee on January 19, 1935.  Mrs. McNeil a devoted wife and mother was preceded in death by her husband, the late Rev. J. B. McNeil, Sr. on February 23, 2012.

            Surviving are daughters & spouses, Nanci & Steve Hicks and Sarah & Steve Widincamp; sons & spouses, Britt & Melody McNeil and Lee & Jane McBNeil; sisters, Irene Sauls and Mary Lynn Oxford; grandchildren, Kevin, Matthew, James, Kirsten, Anna, Rebekah, and Nathan McNeil, Atticus and Annie Hicks, Susanna and Luke Brantley, and Mary Ellen Widincamp; great grandchildren, Kendal McNeil and Corbin Hicks; several Nieces and Nephews.

            Memorial service will be held Friday, October 2nd, at 2:00 P.M. from the Campbellton United Methodist Church with Rev. Zueon Smith and Rev. Ken Stephens officiating; private interment in Campbellton United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Grandchildren.  The Family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 7 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.  The Family request in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Alzheimer Association @ alz.org.

Mrs. Charlotte M. Evett

MRS. CHARLOTTE M. EVETT, age 83, of Dunwoody, Georgia, formerly of Summerville, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015, at her residence.  A native of Chattooga, County, She was born September 29, 1931 to the late Imojean Floyd and was a granddaughter of the late Charlie A. Floyd.  Mrs. Evett was a Homemaker, attended the Horizon Baptist Fellowship, and was preceded in death her husband, the late James Ralph Evett on June 25, 2004.

            Surviving are daughters & son-in-law, Cathy and Doug Bennett and Ann Evett of Atlanta; grandson and spouse, Brian and Tamara Norton of Long Beach, Mississippi.

            Funeral service will be held Friday, September 25th, from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating.  The Family will receive friends Friday, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ann Young

MRS. ANN YOUNG, age 91, of Maple Drive, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, September 11, 2015, at her residence.  A native of Broometown, Alabama, She was born to the late John H. and Minnie Pearl Powell Humphrey, on December 14, 1923.  Mrs. Young was a member of North Summerville Baptist Church and was retired from the sewing department of Montgomery Knitting Mill.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Perry Young on October 21, 1985, a sister, Pearl Humphrey, brothers, Ben Humphrey, Earl Humphrey, Jack Humphrey, J. D. Humphrey, and H. P. Humphrey, and sons-in-law, the late Grady Bennett and Donald Green.

            Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Jimmie Ann & Ron Nicholson, Peggy Young Green, Pat & Randy Money, and Donna Whitmire; granddaughter & spouse, Alania & Britt Carpenter, great granddaughter, Emma Carpenter; special friends, Joyce & Darrell McKeehan; care givers, Regina Dodd, Peggy Stricklin, Shelia Stowe, and Life Choice Hospice.

            Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 13th, at 4:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers, Mike Humphrey, Jeff Ward, Mark Bennett, Mike Bennett, Tim Hayes, and David Evans; Honorary Pallbearers, Jimmy Riley, Johnny Riley, and the Ladies Sunday School Class #8 of North Summerville Baptist Church.  The Family will receive friends Sunday from 2 P.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Betty McCollum Howard

MRS. BETTY MCCOLLUM HOWARD, age 87, of Thomas Road, Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, September 4, 2015.  Native to Chattooga County, She was a daughter of the late Cleve and Lena Norton McCollum, on May 27, 1928.  She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, retired from the Montgomery Knitting Mill and Mohawk kreeling department.  Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband, the late Horace E. Howard, and a son, the late Dennis L. Howard.

            Surviving are children, Diane & Riley Flowers of Macon, Donna Howard Slayton of Trion, and David & Kathy Howard of LaFayette; 10 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held Monday, September 7th, at 11:00 A.M. from the Ridgeway Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Neil and Mr. Robert Thomas officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden.  Active Pallbearers Jeremy Burke, Jeremy Staton, Jerry Wigley, Chris Wigley, Jared Wigley, Kevin Binkley; Honorary Pallbearers Friends of Ridgeway Baptist Church and Gold Leaf Apartments.  The Family will receive friends Sunday, from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home; Mrs. Howard will also be in state at the Church, Monday, from 10 A.M. until the hour of service.

Mr. Melvin M. Burke

MR. MELVIN M. BURKE, age 81, of Mitchell Circle, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, September 4, 2015, at his residence.  A native of Trion, Georgia He was born to the late Fred S. and Evie Irene Jones Burke on April 16, 1934.  Mr. Burke was a member and Deacon of Harrell Street Church of God and a retired owner/operator Truck driver.  He was preceded in death by a son the late Rex Burke; sisters, Shelby Gentry, Phyllis Lambert; brothers, John L. Burke, Marvin Burke.

            Surviving are wife, Ester Ruth Burke; daughters, Marshell Roberts, Orlando Millican, Phyllis Bell, Tina Treadaway, Kimberly Nichols; sons, Frederick Burke and Eddie Burke; sister, Mary Morris; brothers George Burke and Ed Burke; 23 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 6th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Harrell Street Church of God with Pastor Kenny Payne and Rev. Rockland Hughes officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Grandsons.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
