Mr. Tollie Fay Hurley

MR. TOLLIE FAY HURLEY, prominent Summerville, Georgia businessman and chairman of Southeast First National Bank passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014. Mr. Hurley was born February 21, 1934 in Summerville, Georgia to the late Tollie Ross Hurley and Anna Elsberry Hurley. He was a 1953 graduate of Summerville High School where he served as captain of the Summerville High football team that broke a 13 year losing streak to Trion High. Mr. Hurley was in the grocery business of 44 years, owning stores, with his father and brother, in Summerville, Trion, and Fort Payne, Al. He served as Chairman and CEO of Hurley Food, Inc., served on the board of directors of Dixie Savings Stores, Inc. of Chattanooga, TN., a founding board member, in 1967, of First National Bank; also served as chairman of the board of the bank and chairman of the board of Summerville/Trion Bancshares, Inc. Mr. Hurley was a past member of Summerville/Trion Rotary Club and the City of Summerville Industrial Development Board. He also served on the board of Bank of Adairsvile, Inc., the People’s Bank of Crawfordville, GA., Adairsville Bancshares, Inc. and was one of three investors who purchased Bank of Lowes in Lowes, KY. and moved it to Rome, GA. under the name of Heritage First Bank. Surviving are His wife, of 61 years, Linda Sue Woods Hurley; daughter and son-in-law- Suzanne Hurley Bowman and Timothy E. Bowman; sons and daughter-in-law, Edward F. Hurley, William B. Hurley and Jamie Keeling Hurley; brother and sister-in-law-Benjamin Gene Hurley and Marceline Mobbs Hurley; and ten grandchildren-Alexandria Dawes Hurley, Katherine Cutler Hurley, Madeline Grace Hurley, William Evan Bowman, Haley Bowman Barbaro, Jennifer Bowman Rogers, Kelsey Bowman Wiggins, Jacob E. Bowman, Kendall Keeling, and Kaitlyn Keeling. Visitation will be Thursday, May 1st, at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, in Summerville, GA., at 2 PM with the funeral service to follow at 4 PM with Dr. Jerry Mahan and Rev. Thurston Garrett officiating; active pallbearers-Edward F. Hurley, William B. Hurley, Timothy E. Bowman, William Evan Bowman, William M. Tutton, Joseph William Cornish, and William Nickolas Tutton; honorary pallbearers-Jimmy Barron, Jimmy Woodard, Rex Jackson, Bob Mahan, Jeremy Mahan, and Leo Lanier. Interment will follow, for the Family, at the Summerville Cemetery. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Floyd Earle Davis, Jr.

MR. FLOYD EARL DAVIS, JR., age 60, of Commerce Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Born in Illinois on January 21, 1954 was a son of the late Floyd Earl Davis, Sr. Mr. Davis was retired from the dye house of Mt. Vernon. Surviving are sons-Earl Davis, III of Rome, Matthew Davis of Kennesaw, and Patrick Davis of Trion; sisters-Rosetta Janes of Tennessee and Pat Skiorshi of Illinois; brother-Samuel Davis of Illinois; special friend-Melissa Cook; several Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. James E. Cox

MR. JAMES E. COX, age 80, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, in the local Nursing Home following an illness. Born in Polk County, Georgia on October 22, 1933, He was a son of the late Fonnie and I. V. Carnes Cox. Mr. Cox was Methodist by Faith, a Veteran of Korea serving in the U.S. Army, and was retired office manager for Inland Container in Rome. Surviving are sisters-Ella Cox of Summerville, Helen Walker of Atlanta, and Mallene Houston of Kennesaw; several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26th, at 1 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, interment in Lime Branch Cemetery. Mrs. Dusty C. Bartlett

MRS. DUSTY C. BARTLETT, age 33, of Cummings Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Born in Floyd County, Georgia on September 22, 1980, she was a daughter of Rochelle Choate and Joel Brumlow who survive. Dusty attended the New Hope North Baptist Church and was a restaurant server and cook. Surviving are husband, Tim Bartlett of Trion; parents, Rochelle Choate of Rome and Joel Brumlow of Trion; children, Timothy Levi Brumlow and Haven Marshelle Bartlett; sisters, Clory Smith of LaFayette and Mary Brumlow of Rome; brother, Joel Sidney Brumlow of Rome. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Ricky Clark and Ronnie Pettyjohn officiating, interment in White Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Ben Edgeman, Ethan Bartlett, Josh Millican, Joel Brumlow, Jr., Casey Reynolds and Dale Buffington. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Robert Thornburg, James Upchurch, Mike Brock and Timothy Bartlett, Sr. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 7 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
