Mr. Johnnie Carl Ivey
MR. JOHNNIE CARL IVEY, age 90, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, in the local nursing home. A native of Huntsville, Alabama He was born to the late John Bryant and Lillie Cadilla Michaels Ivey on March 1, 1924. Mr. Ivey was retired from Harriett-Henderson Mills and a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army in Naples, South France, and Central Europe; earning the rank of Staff Sargent, and was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead, EAMET Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by sisters, the late Rosie King, Viola Thomas, and Eula Mitchell.
Surviving are daughters & spouses-Carolyn & Charles Spraggins, Jane & Mike Floyd, and Debbie & Arnold Kilgo; sons & spouses-Dennis & Joan Ivey and Steve & Yvonne Ivey; sister- Audry Rial; 12 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces , and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29th, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Pastors Jimmy Bryant and Stanley Smith officiating, entombment in Greenhills Memory Garden, with Military Honor’s by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5, of Rome. Active Pallbearers Adam Ivey, Ryan Headrick, Matt Floyd, Mark Floyd, Mickey Floyd, and Chad Spraggins. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Thursday from noon until the hour of service.
