MR. JOE J. HAMMOND, age 94, of Powder Springs, Georgia formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed day Thursday, August 7, 2014, in Powder Springs. Mr. Hammond was born in Chattooga County on October 25, 1919, a son of the late Joseph Fletcher and Agnes Jones Hammond. He was a watch repairman for 31 years, afterward worked as a watchman for a textile plant, for 15 years, until retirement. Mr. Hammond was a member of the First Presbyterian Church PCA, in Summerville.
Surviving are nephew, Henry Sanders and wife Evelyn, niece, Elizabeth Jefferson and husband Bob; two Great Nieces and Nephews; five Great Great Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services Sunday, August 10th, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Greg King officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. The Family will receive friends, Sunday, from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour, at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers Family suggest contributions to First Presbyterian Church PCA or the American Cancer Society.
