MRS. HUGHBELL
HAMBY TUCKER,
age 91, of Chelsea Community, Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, August
21, 2017, evening in a Rome hospice center.
Mrs. Tucker was born in Chattooga County on November 22, 1925, a
daughter of the late Hugh Lee and Margaret Ruth Wofford Hamby. She was a member of the Menlo United
Methodist Church, retired secretary for the Chattooga County Cooperative
Extension Service, served multiple positions on the Board of Directors of Camp
Hamby, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death, in
addition to her Parents, husband the late Harmon Eugene “Gene” Tucker, and
sisters, the late Margaret Thomas, Peg Hogg, and Nelle Adamson.
Surviving are daughter, Susan (Mark)
Hegwood; granddaughter, Lindsay (Jeremy) DeHart; grandson, Marcus Chase
Hegwood; great grandchildren, Jackson and Grayson DeHart; sisters, Jane Stokes
and Joyce Hogg; brothers, Hill Hamby and Jerry Hamby; several Nieces and
Nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday, August 24th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial
Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jody Brock officiating,
interment in Garrett Cemetery. Active
Pallbearers Mark Hogg, Kelly Stokes, Lee Hamby, Darren Mitchell, Al Adamson,
and Chase Hegwood. The Family will
receive friends Thursday, at the Funeral Home, from 1 P.M. until the hour of
service. The Family request no flowers,
and suggest contributions to Camp Hamby or Garrett Cemetery, c/o Beth Wilson,

charge of arrangements for Mrs. Hughbell Hamby Tucker who passed away Monday
evening.
