Mrs. Nellie B. Davenport

MRS. NELLIE B. DAVENPORT, age 89, of Yarbrough Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015, at her residence.  A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Roy Clinton and Hattie Lemuel Veatch Allmon, on July 6, 1926.  Mrs. Davenport was retired from the sewing department of the former Best Mfg. Company of Menlo, Georgia and a member of Chelsea Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Garner Earl Davenport on July 12, 2007; daughter, the late Robin Davenport; sisters, the late Sarah Evans, Margaret Knight, Zenter McHaffey, and Fannie Mae Hunter and brothers, the late Rube Allmon, Cecil Allmon, and Deforest Allmon.  Nelliw B. loved herf Savior, Jesus Christ and was devoted to read the Bible.  She loved her neighbors the Kerce, Yarbrough, and Joyner families, and her Church family.  She enjoyed teasing and making people smile.  “Her children arise up, and call her blessed”, Proverbs 31:28.

Surviving are two daughters & spouses, Jeanette and Bill Shelby and Shirley and Albert Smith, Jr.; son & spouse, Benny and Karen Davenport; seven Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews; sisters-in-law Effie Hayes and Edith Stanley; brother-in-law, Vernon Hayes, and best friend, Mozelle Willingham, also survive.

Funeral services Tuesday, September 1st, at 2:00 P.M., EDT, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Spears and Rev. Larry Scoggins officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers, Daniel Smith, Corey Smith, Mark Davenport, Michael Smith, David Jackson, Jody Smith.  The Family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8, EDT, at the Funeral Home.
