MRS. MAUGHEE WILSON EVANS, age 85, of Pine Street, Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning, October 26, 2011, in a Rome hospital. Born in Jackson County Alabama on July 7, 1926, she was a daughter of the late James Aubrey, Sr. and Lina Ada Eva Gibson Wilson. Mrs. Evans was a homemaker and bookkeeper, a member of Pennville First Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Billy Brice Evans on February 6, 2008, siblings: Ewart Quinton Wilson,Sr., James Aubrey Wilson, Jr., Lorenzo “Pete” Wilson and Claudine Fowler.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Cindy Evans of Trion and Rev. Tim and Dale Evans of Birmingham, AL; Grandchildren- Lauren Evans of Nashville, TN; Leigh Ann Evans of Auburn, AL; Kristen Evans of Columbia, S.C.; Marlie Payne of Trion; Zackary Brice Evans of Birmingham, Al; Katie Evans of Auburn, AL; two sisters- Montez Gladney and Joan Renslow, and a brother Charles B. Wilson all of Summerville. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Pennville First Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Evans; Rev. Olin McSherry and Rev. Howard Payne officiating, interment in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Jamie Renslow, Preston Greer, Mike Wilson, Gary Duke, Charles Duke, Buddy Evans, Quinton Wilson, Todd Hammond, James Evans and Bobby Evans. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Pennville First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday from 6 til 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Evans will also be in state at the Church Saturday from 1:00 till 2:00 P.M.

MR. OTIS SHIVER, age 87, of Ridgewood Circle-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, in the local nursing home. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on October 7, 1924, a son of the late Jesse C. and Allie Mae- Williams Shiver. Mr. Shiver was a WW II Veteran serving in the U. S. Army Combat Engineers in the Philippians and New Guinea; also was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #129 and V.F.W. Post #6688. He was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church and retired from retail sales.
Surviving are wife Marion Shiver; sons and daughter-in-law-Nelson Shiver of Atlanta and Farrell & Kay Willingham Shiver of Woodstock; granddaughter-Sarah Shiver; sisters-Edna Helton of Summerville and Linda Green of Lyerly; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26th, at 2:00 PM from the Summerville First Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Summey and Dr. Paul Mason officiating, interment in the family lot of Summerville Cemetery, with Military Honors by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5. Active Pallbearers, Michael Green, Marc Green, Cody Green, Adam Green, Ricky Wyatt, and Stacy Wyatt; Honorary Pallbearers the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Summerville First Baptist Church. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. Mr. Shiver will also be in state at the Church on Wednesday from 1 until 2 P.M.

MRS. FAYE WAITS OZMENT, age 76, of Rockmart, formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011, in Rockmart, Georgia following an extended illness. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born on May 16, 1936 to the late Stanley and Effie Coker Waits. Mrs. Ozment was retired from the Sample Department of Mohawk Industries and a member of Four Mile Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, the late Billy Joe Ozment on January 4, 2003, a son, the late Terry Ozment on January 21, 2005, and a sister the late Carol Baker.
Surviving are son-Joel Ozment of Rockmart; sisters-Eddie Tinney of Rome, Ruth Howell of Summerville, and Edith McGraw of Cedartown; brother-Dudley Waits of Rockmart; Five Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Smith officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. MR. ERNEST LEE JACKSON, age 80, of Harrisburg Road (Teloga Community) Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday , October 8, 2011, evening at his residence. He was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on February 27, 1931, a son of the late Rufus and Velma Simmons Jackson. Mr. Jackson was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years serving during Korea and Viet Nam and retired from Roper Corporation after 21 plus years of service. He was a member of the Beersheba Presbyterian Church, and was preceded in death by his wife the late Joyce Elaine Jackson on July 1, 2011.
Surviving are daughters & sons-in law-Christy and Danny Blackwell and Elaine & Richard Stowe all of Summerville; son & daughter-in-law-Jerry & Sue Jackson of Lander, Wy.; grandchildren-Justin Stowe, Morgan Stowe, and Adam Blackwell; great grandchildren-Jaxon Stowe, Claire Stowe, Peyton Stanton, and Blayke Stanton; sister-Maybell Broyles of Summerville; brother-Gene Jackson of Rossville; several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins also survive..

MS. VICKI JAN EASTERLING, age 56, of Woodland Avenue-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011, in a Rome hospital following a sudden attack. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 10, 1955, She was a daughter of the late Troy Lawrence and Mary Elaine Cantrell Hodges.
Surviving are son and spouse-Dustin Marshall & Chaisty Powell of Bartlett, Tennessee; grandchildren-Cameron & Courtney Powell; sister-Teri Dale Moody of Detroit, Alabama; Nieces and Nephews.
A Memorial service was held October 5th in Detroit, Alabama.

MRS. BRENDA KAY KELLETT, age 71, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday afternoon, October 1, 2011, in a Rome hospital. A native Chattooga Countian she was born to the late Daniel J. and Katie Floyd Grimes on May 26, 1940. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Guy Earl Kellett, Sr. on September 24, 1992 and siblings Janet Shull, Billy Grimes, and Randy Grimes.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law-Beth Kellett of Rome, Tina (Bryan) Sitton of Rome, Sandra (Ralph) Wilson of Summerville, and Mary Ann McDonald of Alabama; son and daughter-in-law-Dr. Earl (Teresa) Kellett, Jr. of Rome; sister-Roxie Jones of Ft. Oglethorpe; brother-Phillip Grimes of Virginia; Nine Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 4th, at 11:00 A.M. from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery with Pastor Larry Brooks officiating. Active pallbearers will be Richard Pena, Marc Hogg, Darrell Rush, Randy Rush, Durwood Mills and Bryan Sitton. Visitation will be Monday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
