MRS. JEANETTE HAWKINS, age 90, of Summerville, Pennville Community, passed away Friday morning in a LaFayette health care facility. She was born on October 19, 1922, a daughter of the late Shirley and Willie Mae Marshall Jones. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Pennville Baptist Church and was a retired Lab Tech from Riegel Textile Corp. Beside parents, She was preceded in death by a grandson-the late Jody Maddux and brother-the late G.M. “Buck” Jones. Surviving are husband-Joseph V. “Shorty” Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law Pam and Lynn Maddux of LaFayette; son and daughter-in-law Curtis and Anne Hawkins of Summerville; sister-Virginia Hayes of Dawsonville; sister-in-law- Faye Jones of Pensacola, FL.; grandchildren-Tracy Maddux, Lynn Maddux, Kari Maddux Brown (Rusty), Ian Hawkins, Anne Hawkins, and Erin Thomas (Eric). great grandchildren- Rayven Lawrence, Ryleigh Lawrence, Ransley Lawrence, and Amelia Thomas. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 3rd, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Johnson and Rev. Mike Hawkins officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Robert King, David Richardson, Jimmy Hayes, John Shankles, Robert Williams and Kenneth Blansit. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Pennville Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home, Sunday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge.

MR. MIKE MITCHELL, age 72, of Center, Alabama, formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013. Born in Walker County, Georgia on October 1, 1940, Mr. Mitchell was a son of the late Walter Jennings and Lydia Sprayberry Mitchell. He was retired from the U.S. Postal service. Surviving are daughter and spouse-Melanie and Greg Johnson of Gadsden, AL.; son and spouse-David and Robin Mitchell of Summerville; former spouse-Lola Grimes Mitchell of Trion; grandchildren-Marlene Mitchell and Skylar Mitchell; sister and spouse-Kathy and Bill Morgan of Trion; several Nieces and Nephews. Private funeral service, Sunday, June 2nd. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers the Family suggest contributions to the Kisumie Orphanage c/o United Community Bank. MRS. MARY J. BLACKMON, age 69, of Penn Street-Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at her residence. Born in Chattooga County, Georgia on January 21, 1944, She was a daughter of the late James Randolph and Mozelle Love Moon. Mrs. Blackmon was a member of Living Waters Ministries and was retired from the preparation department of Mount Vernon Mills. Surviving are Her husband-James H. Blackmon, Jr.; daughter-Tina Rana Loggins of Trion; three sons-James H. Blackmon, III and Kenny Ray Blackmon both of Trion and Marty Lamar Blackmon of Summerville, Chelsea Community; four sisters-Margaret Timms of FL., Paulette Hayes of N.C., Charlotte Ann Taylor of Summerville, and Brenda Lewis of Cartersville; two brothers-James Moon of Menlo and Robert Taylor of Cartersville; eleven Grandchildren, thirteen Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 21st, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Wright and Rev. John Mann officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Doug Green, Darrell McGuire, Issac Moon, Billy Blackmon, Trampus Kiser, Cody Moon, Todd Taylor. MR. CALVIN McARTHUR, age 77, of Reed Street, Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his residence. Mr. McArthur was born in Berryton, Georgia on September 23, 1935, a son of the late John Henry and Margaret McArthur Rackley. He was retired from the maintenance department of Chattooga Hospital and Oak View Nursing & Rehab. Center, had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of American Legion Post #129 and V.F.W. Post #6688. Mr. McArthur was preceded in death by his wife, the late Helen Wynell Nix McArthur and brothers-J.L. Rackley and Kenneth Rackley. Surviving are daughters-Melanie (Gary) Woods and Darlene (Bryan) Hunter all of Trion; grandchildren- Jason (Stacie) McArthur, Bryan (Kaytia) McWhorter, Derek (Catherine) Hunter, Haley Woods and Jimbo Woods; Great Grandchildren Olivia and Trevor McArthur, Sydnie Hoglund, Gage and Gunnar McWhorter; Special Friends Herb Skelton, Pete Denson and Mark Winters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11th, at 1:00 P. M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Mr. Sam Finster officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.
