Mrs. Ruth Cook

MRS. RUTH COOK, age 84, passed away Sunday evening, March 17, 2019, in a Rome hospital.  She was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on June 27, 1934 to the late William Alonzo and Willie Copeland Anderson.  Mrs. Cook was a member of the Lyerly First Baptist Church a member of Golden Bells Sunday School Class, the W.M.U. and numerous church activities.  She strongly supported the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home and participated in numerous mission trips to foreign lands, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.  Mrs. Cook was on the Women’s Committee of Georgia Farm Bureau.  She was preceded in death by her husband the late Ralph Wallace Cook, Sr. on December 17, 2007.

            Surviving are daughters, Brenda Sikes and Joyce Cook; sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph Wallace (Gloria) Cook, Jr. and Jerry Hugh Cook; sister, Jean Tillis; grandchildren, Candi Cook, Bonnie Green, Leslie Cook-Bevels, Julia Cavin, Rebekah Henderson, and Audrey Newton; thirteen Great Grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21st, at 4:00 P.M. from the Lyerly First Baptist Church with Rev.’s James Baird, Barry Peppers, Dewayne Teague, Sanford Deberry, and Trey Williams officiating, interment in Johnson Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers, William Elrod, Dan Bullard Donnie Bullard, Joe Reed, Mike Elrod, and Tim Cook; Honorary Pallbearers, Jessie Williams, Margaret Henderson, Barbara Reece, Dr. Donna Childers, the Golden Bells Sunday School Class, the Farm Bureau Board of Directors and Women’s Committee.  The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home; Mrs. Cook will also be in state at the Church, Thursday, from 3 until 4 P.M.

Mrs. Dora Elizabeth Beene

MRS. DORA ELIZABETH BEENE, age 95, of Williams Cemetery Road, Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 13, 2019, at her residence.  She was born in Trenton, Georgia on February 27, 1924, a daughter of the late Eugene and Nellie Posey Usry.  Mrs. Beene was Baptist by Faith, was retired from the Preparation Department of Riegel Textile Corporation, and was preceded in death by husband, the late Cecil Porter Beene and sons, the late Farrell Porter Beene and the late Felix LaBron Beene.

            Surviving are sons, Leroy Beene, Ronnie (Pam) Beene; sisters, Margaret Smith, Waynal Saylors; brother, Carroll Usry; grandchildren, Sherry Beene, Ronnie Beene, Jr., Ciera Beene, Devin Beene, Nevaeh Shiflett, Heaven Shiflett, Michelle Tapp, Kim Rutledge, Roxanne Lee, Heaher Spraggins, Robert Beene, Artie Beene, Lynn Blackwell, Lisa Beene, and Donald Hammonds; several Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Biddle officiating, interment in Beene Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Devin Beene, Ciera Beene, Scott Wish, James Hewett, Michael Tapp, and Austin Tapp.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday from 12 noon until 2 P.M.

Ms. Chelsea Nicole Nichols

MS. CHELSEA NICOLE NICHOLS, age 33, of Summerville, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 5, 2019, in a Rome hospital.  Born in Fulton County, Georgia in August 29, 1985, She was a daughter of the late Edward Lamar Nichols; also preceded in death by Jerrie Phyllis Worley.

            Surviving are mother and step father, Helen and Thomas Bedingfield; son, Steven Phillips Bedingfield; sister, Sarah Timmons; brother, Ryan Nichols; sister, Erin Bedingfield; half sister, Kayland Jackson; nephew, Man Man Timmons; nieces, Sophia Burrage, Gracie Burrage, Aubrey Edgeworth, and Emma Nichols.

            Visitation was held Saturday, March 9th, at 1:00 P.M. from the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Mrs. Virginia Lynn Johnson-Malone

MRS. VIRGINIA LYNN JOHNSON-MALONE, age 49, of Stallion Drive, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday evening, March 3, 2019, in a Chattanooga Hospital following a sudden illness.  Born in East Point, Georgia on June 14, 1969, She was a daughter of the late Ralph T. and Patricia Padgett McDonald.  Mrs. Malone attended the Dry Valley Baptist Church and was a Homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, the late Dr. Alan Johnson.

            Surviving are husband, John Malone; daughter, Mallorie Johnson; son, Ben Johnson; sister, Mindy Cash; step children, Brody Malone, Cooper Malone, Tyler Malone, and Briley Malone.

            Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, at 2:30 P.M. from the Dry Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Duvall officiating, interment in Cloudland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Wade Johnson, Tony Walker, Adam Lee, Brandon Gurley, Gary Kennedy, John Stanley, Jo Vargo, and Charles Clotfelter.  Visitation will be Saturday from 12:30 until 2:30 P.M. at Dry Valley Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Restoration House, #11465 Hwy #27, Summerville, Georgia.

Mrs. Emma Lou Pullen

MRS. EMMA LOU PULLEN, age 90, of Peach Blossom Lane, Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday morning, March 4, 2019, in the local nursing home.  A native of Lyerly, Georgia, She was born to the late James R. and Ola Floyd Anderson on July 22, 1928.  Mrs. Pullen was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church and was retired from Best Mfg. Company and the Summerville Elementary School lunchroom.  She was preceded in death by husband, Paul Pullen, Jr., and siblings, Carl Anderson, Fuzz Anderson, Charles Anderson, Bud Anderson, Rick Anderson, Sally Espy, Muriel White, Jessie Powell, Shirley Woodall all died earlier.

            Surviving are sons, Scott Pullen and David Pullen; grandson, Micah Pullen; Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 7th, at 1p.m., from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Sean Wegener officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 6 until 8 P.M.
