MRS. RUBY LUCILLE REED, age 84, of West Spring Creek Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Monday, December 27, 2010, at her residence. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late James Harper Blackmon, Sr. & Lillie Ingram Blackmon on October 16, 1926. Mrs. Reed was retired from Riegel Textile’s spinning department after 38 years of service. Preceding Her in death are 4 brothers-J.R. Blackmon, Thomas Blackmon, Alvin Blackmon, and Elgin Blackmon.

Surviving are Her husband of 64 years-Frank G. Reed; daughter-Mildred Lively Wilson of Rome; son-Max Reed of Trion; sisters-Jeanette Peppers and Bonnie Blackmon both of Trion and Shirley Kiser of Summerville; brothers-James Blackmon of Trion, Johnny Blackmon of Summerville, and Ricky Blackmon of Cartersville; 4 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Granddaughters, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 29th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

MRS. WILLA MAE HAYES, age 93, of Hall’s Valley Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, December 24, 2010, in the local nursing home. A native of Blue Ridge, Georgia She was born to the late Huland Burg and Lula Conley Davenport on February 2, 1917. Mrs. Hayes was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, retired from the Spinning Department of Riegel Textile Corporation, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Ernest "Bud" Eugene Hayes, a sister Ruth Cochran, and brothers-Wayne Davenport, J.B. Davenport, and Ernest Davenport.

Surviving are son & daughter-in-law-Bobby & Sandra Hayes of Trion; grandson & spouse-Bradley & Judy Hayes of Trion; great grandsons-Luke Hayes and Jake Hayes; sisters-Lola Bailey of Acworth, Betty Aaron of Covington, Berta Lee Shields of Blue Ridge; brothers-Vester "Veck" Davenport, William "Joe" Davenport, & Floyd Davenport all of Trion and Charles Davenport of Chattanooga; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27th, at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating, interment in Williams Cemetery. MR. DOUGLAS LANDON KINCADE, Jr. age 41, of Mt. View Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010, evening in a Chattanooga Tennessee hospital. Born in Miami, Florida on May 9, 1969. He was retired from Defender Corporation In the maintenance department.

Surviving are sons-David Kincade of Trion and Thomas Kincade of Alabama; Mother and Step Father-Alma and James Miller of Trion; grandmother-Bonnie Teems of Summerville; brother-Johnny Kincade of Trion; several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.

MRS. SYBLE J. MILLER, age 66, of Curran Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday (December 23, 2010) morning in a Rome hospital following a sudden attack. She was born March 30, 1944 in Chattooga County, Georgia to the late J. D. and JoAnn Ledford Hunter. Mrs. Miller was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church and a Homemaker.

Surviving are Her husband-Thomas Miller; children-Debbie Warnock of Summerville, Sheila Morrison of Summerville, Karen Madaris of Chickmauga, Thomas Miller, II of Trion, Ricky Miller of Ft. Oglethorpe, Angelia Beard of Cartersville, and Jeffery Miller of Summerville; brothers-Junior Hunter of Macon and Lee Fountain of Summerville; 15 Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

MRS. LUCILLE E. MANN, age 89, of Roberts Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday (December 22, 2010) night in the local nursing home. She was born in Packlett, S.C. on December 16, 1921, a daughter of the late Fred Reynolds. Mrs. Mann was a member of Teloga Baptist Church, was retired from the weave shop of Mt. Vernon Mills, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Arthur Mann.

Surviving are 2 sons-Larry Mann of Summerville and Wilson Mann of Trion; nine Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Graveside service will be held Sunday (December 26th) at 1:30 P.M. from Greenhills Memory Garden with Darwin Blansit officiating. MRS. NELL M. MORRISON, age 91, of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Monday (December 20, 2010) night at the residence of a daughter in Chatsworth. A native of DeKalb County, Alabama She was born to the late John and Mary Holmes Keef on February 4,1919. Mrs. Morrison was a member of West Berryton Faith Temple and a Homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Hollis Morrison in 1983, sisters-the late Jo Kirby and Juanita Porter, brothers-the late Jess Keef, Tom Keef, and John B. Keef.

Surviving are daughters-Virginia Mobbs of Goose Creek, S.C. and Betty Bagley of Chatsworth; Grandchildren- Greg Echols, Terri Young, Dan Mobbs, Alana Collette and James Mobbs. Eleven Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Granddaughter, several Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

MRS. ADA MARGARET ELROD, age 81, of Farrar Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, December 20, 2010, afternoon in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Born on September 14, 1929 She was a daughter of the late James Alexander and Anna Hammer Duff. Mrs. Elrod was retired from the Georgia Rug Mill, a member of First Presbyterian Church, PCA, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Ralph W. Elrod on November 21, 1981 and a brother the late Jimmy W. Duff, Jr. on September 14, 2010.

Surviving are son-William D. & Martha Elrod of Fayetteville; sister-Jean & Wales Goebel of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren-Kimber Elrod of Jasper, Brandon Elrod of Summerville & fiance’ Erin White of Rome.

MRS. MARILYN PATRICK SCHLACHTER, age 87, of Cloudland, Georgia passed away Friday in the local assisted living center. She was born on July 11, 1923 and was preceded in death by her husband the late Ralph Schlacher on August 11, 2007.

Surviving are son-Larry Schlachter of Cloudland; daughter-Sandra Hartge of Kirkwood, MO.; grandson-John Hartge.

Memorial service will be held Friday, January 14, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

MRS. FLORA MAE HARDEMAN WHISENANT, age 83, of Orlando, FL. passed away Friday, December 10, 2010, in Rome, Georgia. Born in Flintstone, Georgia on June 1, 1927 She was a daughter of the late Homer and Edna Beaty Hardeman. Mrs. Whisenant was preceded in death by her husband, John Alvin Whisenant, three brothers-J.B. Hardeman, Winfred Hardeman, and Edward Hardeman.

Surviving are two brothers-Rod C. Hardeman of Summerville and Homer Hardeman of Douglasville; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 P.M., December 15th, from Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida.

MS. MARTHA M. HAYGOOD, age 84, of Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday afternoon in a Rome hospital. A native of Trion, Georgia She was born to the late Cliff and Mary E. Henderson Haygood on June 12, 1926. Ms. Haygood graduated from Jacksonville State Teachers College in 1947 and started teaching in the Trion School System and retired after 39 years of service. She was a member of Trion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are numerous Cousins.

Mrs. Brewster was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband the late Marion Dexter (Deck) Brewster.

MRS. SYBIL PAULINE WILLIAMS, age 85, of Myers Avenue-Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday (November 28, 2010) morning in a LaFayette nursing home. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born to the late Jesse and Hettie Mae Bean Lancaster on November 2, 1925. Mrs. William was a member of Trion First Baptist Church and was retired Executive Secretary for Riegel Textile Mill with 48 plus years of service. She was preceded in death by husband-Jack Thomas Williams, son-Greg Williams, sister-Jean Witt, and a brother-Willard Lancaster.

Surviving are sister and spouse- Yvonne & Wayne (Deedle) Scott of Chickmauga; brothers & spouses-Allen & Mildred Lancaster of Valdosta and Lee & Kathleen Lancaster of Dalton; sister-in-law-Rose Lancaster of Rome; brother-in-law-LeRoy Will of Trion; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MR. JOHN MARLIN CRANE, age 60, of Gore-Subligna Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday morning in a Rome hospital. A son of the late John Roy and Dorothy Pierce Crane, Mr. Crane a loving husband, father, and was affectionately known as PoP Pa by his grandchildren. He was born in Floyd County on July 30, 1950, a member and Sunday School Teacher of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and was retired from AT&T.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hawkins Crane; children and spouses- Ben & Anamaria Crane of White, GA., Matt & Christina Crane of Rome, Tasha & Lester Jenkins of Cartersville, and Kaela Hayes of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Grandchildren- John Lucas Crane, Connor Crane, Brady Jenkins & Emery Jenkins.

MRS. MARGIE SIMMONS PURCELL, age 94, on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, went home to be with the Lord. She was born October 2, 1916 to the late Ernest Simmons and Rachel Jones Simmons. She was a Charter employee of Best Mfg. Company in Menlo, Georgia, a member of the Best Silver Club, and a member of the Menlo Church of Christ. Among her many talents was the life long ability to make beautiful quilts, which she shared with her family and friends. She was able to enjoy this talent until her last days. She is the widow of the late Frank Eugene Purcell to whom she was married for 57 years; in addition to parents she was preceded in death by a son the late Jimmy Purcell, four Brothers, and four Sisters.

She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law-Kenneth & Maureen Purcell of Douglasville, Paul & Doris Purcell of Trion; daughter and son-in-law-Glenda & Jackie Hamilton of Menlo; 7 grandsons & wives-Don & Patti Purcell, Randy Hamilton, Bobby Purcell, Chris & Kathy Purcell, Kelly & Gini Hamilton, Kendall & Paula Purcell, Aubrey & Brandi Purcell; 10 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Granddaughter; sisters-in-law-Willie Henry Simmons, Louetta Simmons, Dixie Spraggins, & Jesse Purcell; brother-in-law-Claude Russell; Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MRS. MARY LOU CHERRY WOODS, age 91, of Mahan Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday afternoon (October 31, 2010) in a Fort Oglethorpe hospital. A daughter of the late John Monty and Georgia Lena Miller Cherry, Mrs. Woods was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on June 29, 1919 and was preceded in death by her husband the late Rev. Alfred J. Woods on February 25, 2000.

Surviving are daughter & son-in-law-Beulah & Roger Keith of Mentone, Alabama; son & daughter-in-law-Tommy & Barbara Woods of Summerville; Six Grandchildren, Two Step-Grandchildren, Twenty Seven Great Grandchildren, Three Great Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

ELSIE RUTH HENRY, age 83, of Highway #337-Teloga Community, Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday (October 26, 2010) afternoon from injuries received in an automobile accident, earlier Wednesday, near her home. She was born in Walker County, Georgia in April 21, 1927, a daughter of the late George Washington and Mattie Lenor Wilson Henry. She was a member of the Menlo Church of Christ, a retired nurse, and in March, 2010 Ms. Henry received the G.L.O.W. award from the Georgia Commission on Women for her ongoing work with recovering substance abusers. She was preceded in death by a son , the late David Earl Pettyjohn.

Surviving are son and wife-Paul & Sondra Pettyjohn of Hixson, TN.; grandchildren-Jake Pettyjohn, Kayla Pettyjohn, and Julie Nowotny; one Great Granddaughter; brothers-Ed Henry of LaFayette, Ray Henry of Texas, and Ralph Henry of Armuchee; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Tucker was born in Chattooga County Georgia on August 23, 1933, a daughter of the late Johnny and Mary Baker Fortune. She was a member of West Berryton Faith Temple and a homemaker.

Mr. J. R. Tucker, age 81, of Trion, GA, passed away Monday evening from injuries received in an automobile accident earlier near Adairsville, GA. Mr. Tucker was born in Cherokee County Alabama on April 16, 1929, a son of the late John and Isabell Kitchens Tucker. Mr. Tucker was retired from the Weaving Department of Mt. Vernon Mills and the Trion Recreation Department Maintenance.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law- Trena & Denny Strickland of Trion; son and daughter-in-law Ricky & Melinda Tucker of Summerville. grandchildren- Amy Strickland, Jason & Selena Tucker, step children- Robert Doyle Jones, Jr. of Ringgold, GA, Michael Anthony & Carol Jones of Summerville, Gregory Lynn Jones of Trion, Johnny DeWayne & Lisa Jones, Jr. of Batavia, ILL, Ikie & Mary Henderson of Summerville, Bobby & Sheila Nixon of Summerville, Billy & Jean Blackmon of Summerville.

MRS. JOHNNIE MAE FREEMAN MYERS of Hartwell, Georgia, formerly of Summerville, passed away Sunday morning in Hartwell, following an extended illness. She was born in McKinney, Texas on November 27, 1920 to the late John D. and Elizabeth Champion Freeman. Mrs. Myers graduated from Baylor School of Nursing with her Registered Nurse degree, where she met her future husband-Lieutenant Graves T. Myers, III-they were married Christmas Eve, 1941. Mrs. Myers was a member of the Summerville Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter-the late Joyce Lynne Myers Wood, four sisters, and four brothers.

Surviving are son and wife-Graves T. (Susan) Myers, IV of Hartwell, GA.; former son-in-law-Don Wood of Severna Park, MD.; grandchildren-Andy Wood, Dr. Cindy Huffaker, Samuel Trenholm Myers, Elizabeth Manley; 6 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 26th, at 11:00 A.M. from the Summerville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Bayerl and Rev. Jan Rhodes officiating, interment in the Family lot of Trion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Wood, Andy Wood, Dodd Huffaker, Trent Myers, Ryan Gravely, and Graves T. Myers, IV.

MRS. MARY ELIZABETH GREEN BULLARD, age 88, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday (October 19, 2010) afternoon in a Rome hospital. A native Chattooga Countian She was born to the late John Marion and Appalonia Elizabeth Duncan Green on July 18, 1922. Mrs. Bullard was a member of Lyerly First Baptist Church and along with her husband, the late John H. Bullard, owned and operated Bullard Processing Plant, formerly on the Lyerly highway-Summerville. Mrs. Bullard was also preceded in death by a nephew- the late John W. Green.

Surviving are sisters’-in-law-Lucille Green of Summerville and Doris Bullard of Piedmont, AL.; nieces-Martha Calhoun, Joyce Williams, Nancy Crowe, and Debbie Jennings; nephews-Douglas Stephens, Ronnie Stephens, Alan Green, Bob Bullard, Dennis Bullard, Steve Bullard, and Bron Love.

Mr. Micheal Lynn Bryan, age 61, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday (October 8, 2010) in Savannah, Georgia. He was preceded in death by parents-James Howard and Evelyn Wheeles Bryan, son-David Hartline, sister-Brenda Crowe, and grandparents-Mr. & Mrs. Tinney Warren and Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Bryan.

MR. ROBERT L. BOWMAN, JR., age 83, of Perry Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday (October 8, 2010) evening in a Rome hospital. A native Chattoogaian He was born to the late Robert L. Bowman, Sr. and Foye Powell Bowman on May 27, 1927. Mr. Bowman was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church, a Veteran of WW II serving in the Marine Corps Aviation, and was retired Supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Summerville.

MRS. CLAUDINE WILSON FOWLER, age 91, of Hernando, Florida formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, October 4, 2010, in Inverness, Florida. She was born in Lineville, Alabama to the late James Aubrey Wilson, Sr. and Lena Ada Eva Gibson Wilson on June 14, 1919. Mrs. Fowler was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hernando, Fl., retired retail sales clerk, and was preceded in death by her two husbands’ the late Ernest “Slim” Bowman and Fred Fowler, son-the late Ernest (Tony) Bowman, grandson the late Douglas Bush, and siblings-the late Gibson Waylen Wilson, the late Juanita Wilson, the late Ewert Wilson, the late James A. Wilson, Jr., and the late Lorenzo “Pete” Wilson.

Surviving are daughters-Judy (Don) Waggoner of Plainfield, Ind., Patricia (Gary) Headley of Inverness, Fl., and Myra (Neal) Wade of Hernando, Fl.; sisters-Maughee Evans of Trion, Montez Gladney and Joan Renslow both of Summerville; brother-Charles B. MRS. ANNE OGLESBY BENNETT, age 79, of Martin Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday afternoon, (September 28, 2010) in a Rome hospital. She was born in Walker County on August 18, 1931, a daughter of the late James Hamilton and Arvie Ellie Hartman Oglesby. Mrs. Bennett was secretary for sixty-one years for Bobby Lee Cook, attorney-at-law. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Archie B. Bennett on May 8, 1990, two brothers H. Lynn Oglesby and James Oglesby, and sister Juanita Oglesby Davis McCool. Mrs. Bennett was Past Matron and Secretary of Summerville Chapter Order of Eastern Star #434 and Grand Deputy of District 2; she was Secretary of the Chattooga Co. Democratic Association, and Secretary of the Summerville High School Alumni Association. On Law Day, May 7, 1990 Mrs. Bennett was presented the Liberty Bell Award by the Chattooga Co. Bar Association.

Survivors include one daughter, Marthanne Bennett Casey of Oak Ridge, TN; three sons, Richard Lynn Bennett of Lawrenceville, GA ; Archie B. “Skip” Bennett, Jr. of Canton, GA and J. Michael Bennett of Summerville. Nine Grandchildren: Amanda Lynne Bennett Lanham, Laci Deah Bennett, Michael Lance Bennett, Joshua Charles Bennett, Michael Caleb Bennett, Matthew Ryan Bennett, Joseph Michael Bennett, Jeffrey Alan Casey, II and William Bennett Casey. Three Great Grandchildren: Dominick Ladell Bennett, Drake Michael Hines and Roxanne Michelle Bennett. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MR. PAUL BROOME, age 88, of Espy Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday (September 28, 2010) morning in the local nursing home. Mr. Broome was born in Fulton County, GA on January 10, 1922, a son of the late William Monroe and Ola Tinney Broome. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in World War II and was retired from Mt. Vernon-Riegel Mills. Mr. Broome was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife Mattie Lee Broome of Summerville; One daughter Peggy Tucker of Rome; Three sisters, Lou Ellen Durham and Pauline Davis of Summerville and Inez Hardeman of Douglasville, GA. One brother Tommy Broome of Lyerly. Five Grandchildren and Twelve Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Trion, Georgia native He was born May 21, 1951 to Howard Glass and the late Frances Louise Crawford Glass. Mr. Glass was Church of God by Faith, formerly worked in the Security Department of Mt. Vernon Mills, and was in the U. S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and U.S. Army Reserve, serving in Viet Nam and Desert Storm. He was preceded in death by a son the late David Glass, Jr.

Surviving are His wife-Sherry Dee Glass; daughters-Shannon Lumley of Ames, Iowa and Ann Gruber of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Rebecca Sparks of Summerville; father-Howard Glass of Trion; sister-Elaine Miller of

MR. GRAVES T. MYERS, III, age 90, of Hartwell, Georgia former longtime resident of Summerville passed away Wednesday morning,(September 22, 2010) at his residence. A native of Summerville, Georgia Mr. Myers was born to the late Graves T. Myers, Jr. and Beatrice Thomas Myers on December 9, 1919. He was a member of the Summerville Presbyterian Church and was a U.S. Air Force Officer retiring in the rank of Colonel in 1963 after some 24 years of service. Mr. Myers was preceded in death by a daughter the late Joyce Lynn Wood.

Vernon-Riegel Mills and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Inez Brown Bramlett, and siblings Mary Ellen Bramlett Phillips, Julie Ann Bramlett Austin, Miles Bramlett, Farris Bramlett, Calvin Bramlett, and Emmett Bramlett, and 2 Nieces.

Mr. James Walter (Jimmy) Duff, Jr., passed away at Floyd Medical Center on Tuesday, September 14, following five months of illness.

He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on July 30, 1928, the son of the late James A. and Anna Bess Duff. He graduated in 1946 from Alcoa High School in Alcoa, Tennessee. Mr. Duff served in the National Guard during the Korean Conflict.

For over 50 years, Jimmy served the community as owner and operator of Duff’s Flowers and Gifts, selling the business and retiring in 1997. He was an active member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Summerville. A charter member, Mr. Duff was instrumental in the founding of the church in 1982, and the building construction in 1988.

Surviving are sisters, Ada Margaret Duff Elrod of Summerville and Jean Duff Goebel and husband, Wales Goebel, of Birmingham, Alabama; nephews Bill Elrod, Fayetteville, GA; Mike Goebel, Steve Goebel and Stan Goebel of Birmingham; great nephews Brandon Elrod, Rome, GA; Justin Goebel, Jordan Goebel, Birmingham, AL, and Dallas Goebel, Louisville, KY; great niece, Caitlyn Goebel of Atlanta, GA.

Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Summerville, at 3:00 PM, Friday, September 17. Officiating will be Rev. Greg King and Rev. Wales Goebel. Pall bearers will be nephews and great-nephew, and friend and care-giver Wayne Ashley. Mr. Duff will be buried in Green Hills Memory Gardens.

MS. SARA ALEXANDER PHILLIPS, age 75, of Mahan Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday (September 4, 2010) at her residence. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia She was born to the late Thomas Earl and Belle Talbert Alexander on April 17, 1935. Ms. Phillips was a member of North Summerville Baptist Church and a Master Cosmetologist. For many years She coached girls softball, little league baseball, and basketball. She was preceded in death by a son the late James Stanley Perkins.

Surviving are daughters-Beth Bryant and Philana Robinson both of Summerville; sons and daughter-in-law-Bart & April Bryant of Cloudland and Kane Phillips of Rome; brother-Ernest Alexander of Lyerly; grandchildren-Heath Drennan, Kassie Smith, Jade Robinson, and Mallory Phillips; great grandchildren-Destinee Drennan and Jackson Drennan; special friends-Barry Williams, Maradith Budd, and Allen Neal; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Born in Jackson, Mississippi on March 26, 1969; he was a building contractor. Mr. Hartline was preceded in death by grandparents-Willie Luther Smith and Hattie Mae Smith.

MRS. NELLIE CARTER of Orchard Hill Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday (August 11, 2010) afternoon at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Carter was born in Chattooga County on December 12, 1920, a daughter of the late Josh Lee and Mary Lou Busby Bennett, a retired textile worker with Best Mfg. Co., and was a member of South Commerce Church of Christ. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband the late Simon David Carter; two daughters- Caroline Carter and Linda Williamson; granddaughter, Heather Carter; great granddaughters, Brianna Carter and Mariah Carter; sister, Olene Bennett; brothers, Oscar Bennett and Buddy Bennett. To her children and all Family, she was the most loving and caring mother in all the world. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful mother who was always there for us. She gave of herself not only to family, but to anyone she could be a help to. We thank God for letting her stay here almost 90 years and then taking her to her mansion in heaven.

MRS. FRANCES ANDERSON COONS, age 85, of Old Hwy. #337-Menlo, Georgia passed away Monday (August 9, 2010) afternoon in the local nursing home. Born in Manchester, Georgia on May 2, 1925 to the late Brice and Bobbie Irene Colson Anderson. Mrs. Coons was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church and retired telephone operator for Southern Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Charles Raymond Coons, grandson-the late Jim McCarley, sisters-the late Gladys Groover and Mary Paxton, and brothers-the late Bud (Willie) and Freeman Anderson.

Surviving are daughter & son-in-law-Carol and Ken McCarley of Menlo; granddaughter & grandson-in-law-Kristy and David Parker of Lyerly; great grandsons-Seth Parker and Luke Parker; sister-Evelyn Anderson of Travares, FL.; several Nieces & Nephews also survive.

MR. HUGH LEE PLESS, Sr. age 79, of Cloudland, Georgia passed away Monday (August 2, 2010). A native of Chattooga County, Mr. Pless was born to the late Earnest Lee and Katie Lee Alexander Pless on November 28, 1930. He was a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea, and a retired building contractor. Mr. Pless was preceded in death by his wife the late Ruth (Sissie) Kiser Pless and a son the late Hugh Lee Pless, Jr.

Surviving are son-Barry Pless of Cloudland; brother-Joe Pless of Menlo; grandchildren-Justyn Pless, Cheyenne Pless, and Jeff Pless; Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MR. HAROLD PICKLE, age 87, of Mahan Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday morning at his residence. He was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on September 25, 1922 to the late Tim and Emma Brady Pickle. Mr. Pickle was a member and Sunday School teacher of South Summerville Baptist Church. He was a D Day Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division. Mr. Pickle was retired truck driver for Ragland Oil Company and was preceded in death by his wife the late Helen Rosebud Willingham Pickle, son-the late Billy Don Pickle, and brother-the late Wilburn Pickle.

Surviving are Grandchildren-Michelle & Todd Stricklin, Tim & Paulette Pickle, and Jason Pickle all of Summerville; Daughter-in-Law-Sarah Pickle Garrison; Great Grandchildren-Ali Finster, Lauren Finster, Tyler Pickle, Lindsey Stricklin, and Spencer Stricklin; Sisters-Maurene Wallin and Haynie Speer both of Summerville and Waynie Edge of Trion; several Nieces and Nephews.

MRS. PEGGY MAYNARD, age 75, of Bitttings Avenue-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at her residence. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia She was born to the late Frank and Lula Josephene Chastain McGraw on March 4, 1935. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of God.

Surviving are husband-Thomas Maynard; daughter-Pam Henderson of Summerville; sons-Marty Middleton of Summerville and Joey Middleton of Trion; sisters-JoAnn Hughes of Summerville, Irene Horton of LaFayette, and Coleen Waits of Tampa, FL.; 12 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MR. GERALD CAMPBELL, age 73, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010) at his residence. A native of Trion, Georgia, Mr. Campbell was born to the late Andrew and Etta Mae Westbrook Campbell on January 8, 1937. He attended the Kennesaw United Methodist Church, was a U.S. Army Veteran, and was retired from General Motors Corporation.

Surviving are His wife-Peggy Colbert Campbell; sons-Phil Campbell and Todd Campbell both of Kennesaw and Torry Campbell of Acworth; sister-Edna Swanson of Summerville; Nine Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MRS. MATTIE LOU YOUNG, age 90, of Perry Road-Armuchee, Georgia passed away Monday (June 21, 2010) evening in a Rome hospital. Mrs. Young was born in Centre, Al. on October 3, 1919.

Surviving are sons, Dale Young and Steve Young, both of Armuchee. Four Grandsons: Michael Young, Mark Young, Jason Young and Adam Young, all of Armuchee. Five Great Grand Children: Skyler Young, Dylan Young, Destiny Young, Aaliyah Young and Clay Young, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. from the Silver Hill Baptist Church with Dr. John Hayes officiating, interment in Bethel Cemetery. A native Chattooga Countian He was born to the late Charlie William and Bertha Baldwin Tapp on August 17, 1945. Mr. Tapp was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and retired fixer from Carron Mills in LaFayette. He was preceded in death by sister-the late Betty Slayton, brother-the late Horace Tapp, & grandson-Timothy Hall.

MR. HENRY E. CHAPPELEAR, age 89, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Friday (June 4, 2010) at his residence. He was born to the late William Richard and Rosa Dell Estes Chappelear on November 5, 1920. Mr. Chappelear, a prominent Chattooga County Farmer, was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church, a Veteran of WW II and was preceded in death by his wife the late Lena Mae Chappelear.

A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born on June 26, 1920 to the late T. C. and Sally Warren Whitley. Mrs. Johnson attended the North Summerville Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband the late Ben F. Johnson, Sr. and a great granddaughter the late Bailey Henry.

Surviving are 2 daughters-Brenda Chambers of Summerville and Gail Henry of New Mexico; grandchildren-Donna Smith, Tim Henry, Donnie Henry, Amy Ward, and Mary Beth Morrison; ten Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MR. RADY LAMAR GREEN, age 63, of Smith Rail Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday (May 23, 2010) in a Rome hospital. Mr. Green was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on September 14, 1946 to the late Leonard Green and Lois Dover Green who survives. He was a member of Berryton Baptist Church and was owner of Green Construction Company, and was preceded in death by a son the late Joey Green June 15, 1998.

Surviving are wife-Terresa Shipp Green; mother-Lois Green of Summerville; son-Marty Green of Summerville; sisters-Betty Pope of Menlo, Nancy Crider , Charlotte Woody, and Sadie Croy all of Summerville; Grand daughter-Marti Green; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

A native of Walker County, Georgia, She was born to the late Jerry Elbert and Bessie Stowe Thomas on June 7, 1920. Mrs. McWhorter was a homemaker , member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Homer Dean McWhorter and siblings Martha Horn, Rolland Thomas, Billy Thomas, Gene Thomas, Joel “Dub” Thomas, and Jerry Thomas.

A native of Trion, Mrs. McConkey was born to the late Charles Gordon and Dollie Payton Lane. She was a member of South Commerce Church of Christ, retired from Best Mfg. Company in Menlo, and was preceded in death by Her husband the late William L. R. McConkey on October 3, 1995.

Surviving are daughters-Claudia Keeney of Chattanooga and Neena Smith of Harrison, Tenn.; son-Roger McConkey of Rome; sister-Mildred Wilkerson of Trion; brothers-Robert Lane of Summerville and Clarence Lane of Henagar, AL.; four Grandchildren-4 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

She was a member of Berryton Baptist Church and retired from the tufting department of Bigelow-Sanford.

A native Chattooga Countian, She was born in Trion, Georgia on May 25, 1945, to the late J. W. Mitchell and Harriett Cash Mitchell Carroll who survives. Ms. Henderson was Baptist by Faith and a self employed Caregiver.

MR. JOHN MELTON OSBY, age 83, of Highland Avenue-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, in the local nursing home. A native of Etowah County, Alabama He was born to the late Walter Richard and Nallie McClung Osby on February 28, 1927. Mr. Osby was retired from the Weaving Department of Mt. Vernon Mills, served in WW II in the U.S. Army PFC, and was preceded in death by His wife the late Gussie Lee Whitt Osby and a daughter the late Janie Kay Osby.

Surviving are daughter-Vickie Osby Austin; son-John S. Osby both of Summerville; 2 grandchildren-Be Jay Osby of Atlanta and Matt Austin of Summerville; special friends-Lawrence Broome and Greg Hughes, who’s acts of kindness and assistance were like sons to Mr. Osby.

Mrs. Herod was born in Gaylesville, Alabama on October 15, 1941 to the late Cecil Cleveland Battles and Gertha Lee Gilbert Battles who survives. Baptist by Faith She was in retail sales for many years. She was preceded in death by a brother the late Charles Battles.

Surviving are husband-Donnie Herod; mother-Gertha Lee Battles; sons and spouses, Eddie & Robin Herod of Summerville and Richie & Maggie Herod of Rock Springs, GA.; sisters-Frances Boggs of Shadydale, GA., Thelma Day of Lexington, GA., Mary Jo Pate and Katie Lawhorn both of Butler, GA.; brothers-Buddy Battles of Butler, GA. and Larry Battles of Ranger, GA.; grandchildren-Ethan Herod, Dylan Herod, and Hannah Parrish; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Fox was born to the late Howard and Mae Johnnie Umphurs Hawkins on July 16, 1947. She was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church and was retired from Oak View Nursing & Rehab. Center.

A native Chattoogaian He was born to the late William Jessie and Mabel Rebecca Norman Mitchell on January 31, 1932. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Tabernacle, retired from the Lab of Inland Container, a U.S. Navy Veteran of Korea, and a member of Chattooga Lodge #704 F & AM. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Maudie Lee Mitchell.

MRS. KATHRYN G. COLLINS, age 77, of Henagar, Alabama formerly of Summerville, passed away Thursday (April 22, 2010) morning at her residence. Born in Trion, Georgia on January 15, 1933, She was a daughter of the late John and Myrtle Holloway Hunter. Mrs. Collins was Church of God by Faith and retired from the preparation department of Mt. Vernon Mills. She was preceded in death by husband the late Alton Collins, sisters-the late Totsi Hunter, Lola Hunter, Mattie Priest Ledford, and Madlane Edgeworth Ledford brothers-the late Check Ledford, Hydress Ledford, and John Hunter- Granddaughter, the late Tosha Darlene Collins.

MR. CLYDE W. HENDERSON, age 64, of Henderson Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday (April 17, 2010) morning in a Rome hospital following a sudden attack. He was born in Trion, Georgia to the late Wallace and Eunice Henderson on October 2, 1945. Mr. Henderson was a member of Trion First Baptist Church, member and Past Master of Chattooga Lodge #704 F & AM, and worked for WalMart at the LaFayette store.

Surviving are wife-Beverly Roberts Henderson; daughter and spouse-Missy and Tim Sterner of Jacksonville, Fl.; son and spouse-Kelly & Tina Henderson of Trion; grandchildren-Brooke Sterner, Brynn Sterner, Danielle Henderson, Elizabeth Henderson, & Matthew Henderson; step grandchildren-Josh and Autumn Hampton.

MRS. FANNIE MAE HUNTER, age 88, of Rocky Hollow Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday (April 15, 2010) afternoon in the local nursing home. A Chattooga County native She was born to the late Roy Clinton and Hattie Lemuel Veatch Allmon on May 1, 1921. Mrs. Hunter was a member of Midway Baptist Church, retired from Reigel Textile Corporation, and was preceded in death by her husband the late John Hunter on July 9, 2005.

Born in Gordon County, Georgia on August 7, 1923, She was a daughter of the late Arch and Arrie Beck Reed. Ms. Langford was an accountant for the former Jackson Chevrolet and the former Garnett’s Furniture Store in Summerville later was a substitute school teacher. She was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class of the Church. Preceding Her in death was 2 sisters Sallie Reed and Annie Ruth Reed Waddell. Surviving are sister-Catherine Van pelt Miller of Summerville; nieces and nephews-Kathy Vanpelt Brown of Summerville who was Her caregiver for many years, Lynn Hawkins of S.C., Peggy Waddell, Joan Waddell, Judy Waddell, Janie Lou Waddell, Jackie Waddell, Johnny Waddell, Jimmy Waddell; special friend & angel Virginia Barkley. She was born in Walker County, Georgia on May 30, 1937, a daughter of the late Glen and Julia Frances Frye Stewart. Prior to retirement Mrs. Koonce was a medical assistant for Dr. H. A. Goodwin. She was preceded in death by Her husband the late G. W. Koonce on July 7, 2007 and a sister the late Frances Elaine Hartline.

MRS. RACHEL PAULINE LANEY, age 84, went to be with the Lord Thursday (April 8, 2010). She resided at #31 Curran Street, Summerville, Georgia. Mrs. Laney was born to the late Walter and Ruby Abercrombie Collum in Cherokee County, Georgia on November 11, 1925. She was a wonderful, loving mother and homemaker, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Thomas Charlie Laney, daughter-Verdice Laney, sisters-Ethel Collum, Inez Peacock, and Nellie McGuire. She was a Christian in the body of Christ at South Commerce Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed by her family who loved her very much.

Surviving are five children-Linda Wooten of Summerville, Delvia & Bill Streets of Augusta, Darlene Hughes of Summerville, Rex Laney and Walley Laney both of Summerville; 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

A native Chattoogaian He was born to the late Zera M. and Martha Evelyn Bohannon Cooper on August 30, 1931. Mr. Cooper was a member, Elder , and Adult Sunday School Teacher of Trion Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Was retired papermaker from Inland Container-Rome after 31 years of service and a member of Floyd Springs Lodge F & AM, Rome Shrine Club, Yaarab Shrine Temple, and Rome Commandery #8. He was preceded in death by siblings-Vernon Cooper, Willie Cooper, Louise Copeland, and Sidney Cooper.

MRS. BETH MARTIN BARKLEY, age 90, of Lyerly Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday (April 6, 2010) evening in a Rome hospital. She was born in Calhoun, Georgia on April 20, 1919 to the late Rev. J. A. Smith and Dora Pass Smith. She was a member of South Summerville Baptist Church and was owner/operator of the former Finland Pet Store of Summerville. She was preceded in death by husbands the late Holland B. Martin and the late J. C. Barkley, granddaughter-the late Laurie Diane Martin.

Surviving are daughters and spouse-Dorene & Bobby White of Dalton and Mary E. Martin of Summerville; son and spouse-Rev. MR. LAWRENCE D. POWELL, age 82, of Mentone, Alabama passed away Saturday (March 27, 2010) at his residence following an illness. A native of Cherokee County, Alabama He was born to the late Albert Hinton and Mary Jones Powell on July 18, 1927. Mr. Powell was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was retired from the card room of Mt. Vernon/Riegel Mills. He was preceded in death by six siblings-the late Katherine Cavin, Mary Nell Langston, Lois Boydston, Francis Cavin, Madelyn Downer, and Houston Powell.

Surviving are daughters-Kay Sentell and Margie Saine; son-Dwight Powell all of Mentone; brother-in-law-Owen Langston of Chattanooga; seven Grandchildren, twelve Great Grandchildren, two Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Youngblood was preceded in death by her husband the late Tommy Youngblood and daughter the late Susan Reena Owens.

Born in Summerville, Georgia on November 25, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Jimmie and Gertrude Norton Spain. Mrs. Bullard was a member of Lyerly First Baptist Church, was retired from the tufting department of Georgia Rug Mill, enjoyed part time teaching and was preceded in death by Her husband the late Bennie L. Bullard on January 28, 1990 and an infant son the late Kenneth Bullard on July 24, 1951.

Native of Eatonton, Georgia He was born to the late James Paul Smith, Sr. and Willie Lee trotter Smith on August 18, 1922. Mr. Smith was a member, Deacon, and former Treasurer of Lyerly First Baptist Church, a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was former Supervisor of the shipping department of Bigelow-Sanford Georgia Rug Mill. He was preceded in death by His wife the late Mary Louise Hall Smith on August 18, 2004.

MR. JERRY RAYMOND KIRBY, age 71, of Sunset Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday (February 27, 2010) evening at his residence following an extended illness. A lifetime resident of Chattooga County, Georgia He was born to the late George Sidney Kirby and Ruby Lee Phillips Kirby who survives. Mr. Kirby attended the North Summerville Baptist Church, was retired auto body repairman, and a Veteran of the U. S. Marines Corps. He was preceded in death by a sister, the late Sara MacArthur and brothers the late L.M. “Bud” Kirby and Donald Wayne Kirby.

Surviving is His wife of 52 years-Barbara Bearden Kirby; mother-Ruby Phillips Kirby of Summerville; daughters and spouses-Kimberly Kay and Paul A. MR. JOHN CROY, JR., age 81, of Summerville, formerly of Rome, Georgia passed away Friday afternoon in a Rome hospital. He was born in Floyd County, Georgia on January 1, 1929 to the late John Croy, Sr. and Lillie Towell Croy. He was Baptist by Faith.

Surviving are sister-Bessie Sue Wooten of Rome and nephew-Eric Wooten of Summerville.

MR. Wayne Groce, age 83, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, February 19, 2010, in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. A native Chattooga Countian, He was born to the late Charles Donald and Vera Josephine Stephenson Groce on January 6, 1927. Mr. Groce was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church, Deacon, and sang in the choir for forty years. He was also former Choir Director for South Summerville Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of the Homeland Harmony Quartet, singing lead in 1951 through 1953. Mr. Groce sang at the Bill Gather Homecoming honoring the Homeland Harmony Quartet. He played pitcher, outfielder, and third baseman in the Georgia Textile Baseball League later coaching Little League baseball and softball. Was the former owner/operator of Summerville Pure Oil Service Station, was retired agent for American General Life & Acc. Ins. Co. Wayne enjoyed hunting, was an avid quail hunter, and a Veteran of WW II serving in the U. S. Army.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22nd, at 2:00 P.M. from the Summerville First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Mason and Dr. Kenneth Summey officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. MR. STANLEY MOORE (STAN) WILLINGHAM, age 51, of Fish Hatchery Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Sunday (February 7, 2010).
A native Chattooga Countian He was born on September 19, 1958 to the late Babe Lee Willingham and Shirley Ann Moore Willingham who survives. Mr. Willingham was employed by Farmers’ Furniture and formerly the Packing Department of Mt. Vernon/Riegel Textile.

Surviving are daughters-Amber Dover and Melissa Milan both of Lyerly; son-Adam Willingham of Summerville; mother-Shirley Willingham of Summerville; sisters & brothers-in-law-Le Ann & Bobby Mitchell of Cartersville and Fran & Tom Jones of Forsyth; brother & sister-in-law-Britt & Jan Willingham of Summerville; grandchildren-Nathan & Braden Willingham, Dylan & Daniel Dover; Nieces & Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (February 10th) at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Hurley officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Active Pallbearers Lee Mitchell, Russ Mitchell, Jeff Smith, Sid Witt, Randy Ledford, and Rick Camp; Honorary Pallbearers the old Packing Department of Mt. Mrs. Emma Maxine Strange age 76, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday morning, February 2, 2010, at her residence. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia she was born to the late Lewis and Gertrude Ray Helton on November 29, 1933 and was a member of Berryton Baptist Church. Mrs. Strange was preceded in death by her son Ricky Strange, sisters-Pauline Bridges and Virginia Harris, brothers-Alvin Helton, Buck Helton, and Hobby Helton.

Surviving are two daughters Pat Brison of Lilburn and Sara Strange of Summerville; Four sons, Lewis Strange of Trion, Marty Strange of Duluth, Bobby Lee Strange of Birmingham, Al, and John Strange of Fort Oglethorpe; One sister Carol Davis of Berryton; Two Brothers Harold Helton of Berryton and Wayne Helton of Pennville; Four Grandsons, Clint Strange, Bo Brison, Alex Brison and Justin Strange; Six Granddaughters, Paula Schumacher, Emily Kendall, Shelley Strange, Jessica Hudson, Tara Cruise and Lea Hamilton; Eight Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday(February 3rd) at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Megan Strange and Pastor Mickey Skates officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 P.M. until the hour of service. Active Pallbearers will be Clint Strange, Bo Brison, Justin Strange, Alex Brison, Kenny Kendall, and Pierre Hudson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Country Side Hospice and Tonya Dawson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

MRS. MARY ANN PESTERFIELD, 83, of Summerville, Georgia died Saturday, January 30, 2009, morning in a Rome hospital, while surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Summerville, Georgia on February 22, 1926, the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. William King, Sr. She was graduated from Georgia State College for Women and taught 4th grade at Summerville Elementary School for 30 years. She received her Masters of Education from the University of Georgia, and was honored as Chattooga County Star Teacher in 1971. In 1975 she married E.C. Pesterfield, Sr. who preceded her in death June , 1991. Mrs. Pesterfield was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Iota Chapter, Chattooga County Retired Teachers Association and Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church, Trion, Georgia.

Survivors include son-Thomas E. Neal, Athens; step daughter-Mrs. Kirk (Anne Pesterfield) Krueger, Trion; step son-J. David Pesterfield, Florida; nieces-Betsy King Dellenback and Mrs. Malcolm (Lucy King) Lee, Summerville, & Mrs. Marvin (Mary King) Czentnar, Rome; sister-in-law-Mrs. John William (Elliott) King, Jr., Summerville; her brother, John William King, Jr. and step son, E. Charles Pesterfield, Jr. preceded Her in death. Grandchildren, Mrs. Douglas (Lyn Pesterfield) Murajda, Boiling Springs, S.C., Susanne Pesterfield, and Margaret Pesterfield, Atlanta, and William Krueger and Anna Krueger, Chapel Hill, N.C. Great Grandchildren-Jessica Pesterfield, Atlanta and John Savor, Boiling Springs, S.C.; six Great Nieces, Three Great Nephews, one Great Great Niece, and five Great Great Nephews also survive. Mrs. James (Elizabeth King) Abney is her one surviving first cousin.

Mrs. Pesterfield loved being surrounded by the laughter and joy of her numerous great (and great great) nieces and nephews and always encouraged them to enjoy life’s blessings and to do their best as they followed their dreams. Her love of nature was evidenced by the many birds attracted to her homes in Gore and in Summerville. The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers Adam Burdick, J Norris, John Oxford, James King Abney, Rob Dellenback, and Kelly Jordan; honorary pallbearers-James R. (Bud) Jackson, Sam Jones, and David Jones.

Family and extended family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service and Celebration of Life at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Earle RainwaterFuneral Home with Rev. Stephanie Pace, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Trion presiding. Margaret-Elliotte Czentnar, great niece, will provide a trumpet prelude and special music selected for the service by Mrs. Pesterfield. Interment will follow at Summerville Cemetery. The Family respectfully request in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Trion, Georgia.

MRS. PARTICIA H. (PATTI) KING . age 57, of Cloudland, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Atlanta, Georgia She was born to the late Mary Ruth Walker Hawkins and Charles Henry Hawkins, Sr. who survives, on June 7, 1952. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church P.C.A. and a former Teacher.

Surviving are Her husband Rev. Greg King; father-Charles Hawkins, Sr. of Summerville; daughter & spouse-Cathy & Matt Buckland of Orlando, FL.; son-Michael King of Asheville, N.C.; brother-Charles Hawkins, Jr. of Sautee, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 4th) at 7:00 P.M. from the First Presbyterian Church P.C.A. with Rev. James Richter officiating, interment on Friday, February 5th, in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery Tallbott, Tennesee. Visitation will be Thursday, February 4th, immediately following the Funeral Service at the Church.
