PARKER

MRS. MARGARET PARKER, age 72, of Campbell Crescent Circle, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday morning, January 30, 2023  in the local nursing home.  A native of Trion, Georgia , she was born to the late Robert G. and Elizabeth Jane Prickett Massey on December 2, 1950.  Mrs. Parker was a member of the United Christian Fellowship and was owner-operator of Parker Screen Printing.

 

            Surviving are her husband, Larry Parker; daughters and spouses, Beth Hamilton (Shannon) and Amanda Coggins (Josh); grandchildren, Brylee Coggins, Lauren Hamilton (Alex), Peyton Hamilton, and Kristen Hamilton; sister, Mary Treadwell (Barry); special friend and roommate, Ann King; several Nieces and Nephews.

 

            Memorial service will be held Thursday, February 2nd, at 6:00 p.m.. from the United Christian Fellowship with Pastor Gary Howell officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m.at the Church.  The family wishes to thank the Staff of Oakview Nursing & Rehab. Center and Affinis Hospice for their compassionate care of Mrs. Parker.  In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the United Christian Fellowship Church.

MRS. E. SUSAN DURHAM, age 70, of L. M. Thomas Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, in a Rome hospital. Born in Martinsville, Virginia on November 12, 1952, She was a daughter of the late William and Velva Mills Walker. Mrs. Durham was a member of the West Berryton Faith Temple, was retired Executive Secretary for Bob Harvey Medical Management Firm and Co- Founder of the Tooga Trader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister the late Tammy Boyd and a brother the late Bill Walker.

Surviving are her husband, Bill Durham; 3 sons-Mark William Durham of Jacksonville, Fl., Larry Joe Nash of Summerville, and John William Nash of Florida; sister, Joyce Bennett of Glen St. Mary, Fl.; grandchildren, Megan and Lacey Durham, Bubba Nash, Johnnie Nash all of Jacksonville, FL., Travis, Trey, Dylan, Dalton, and Brooklyn; Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28th, at 3:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Brother John Mann, Evangelist Bucky Brown, and Brother Wayne Pace officiating, interment in Mount Olive Cemetery. HIGH


MRS. MARY Z. JACKSON HIGH, age 95, of the Gore Community, Summerville, Georgia, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 22, 2023, at her home. Mrs. High was born on July 20, 1927 in Chattooga County, the daughter of Brunette Brewer Jackson and Robert Gaines Jackson. She was a 1943 graduate of Lyerly High School. She retired from the Chattooga County Board of Education in 1992, serving as secretary and bookkeeper for 26 years. Mary married Weyman Wright High in 1947; they were married for 67 years. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church; she was currently a member of Summerville First United Methodist Church. Other than Her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Robertine Jackson of McDonough, Georgia.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and William Crouch; three granddaughters and spouses; , Lindsey and Lance Brown, Whitney and Nate Rupp, and Christine Crouch; three great grandsons, Zeke Brown, Andrew Rupp, and Logan Brown.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, at 2:00 P.M. from Graveside in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Gore Community, with Rev. J. Wesley Privette officiating. Active Pallbearers William Crouch, Lance Brown, Nate Rupp, and Zeke Brown. There will be no visitation. MRS. FAYE JOLENE LAWSON BROWN, age 90, of Jason Drive, Trion, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at her residence. A native of Sylvania, Alabama, She was born to the late William H. Lawson and the late Eva Ferguson Roberts on October 7, 1932. Mrs. Brown was a faithful member of the Trion First Baptist Church, loved quilting, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed the Silver Sneakers. In addition to Parents, She was preceded in death by siblings, Bonnie Davenport and B. W. (Jack) Brown and step father, the late M. O. Roberts.

Surviving are daughters, Debbie Fowler and Patricia (Patrick) Baldwin; sons, Marvin (Rose) Brown and Anthony Brown; half sisters, Katie Golden, Joyce Lancaster, and Pam Jackson; grandchildren, Richard (Amber) Ramirez, Caressa (Stephen) Price, Chris Ramirez, Jonathan Ramirez, Dylan S. Baldwin, and Cassidy S. Baldwin, MD; sever Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21st, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel with Pastor Casey Bramlett and Rev. MRS. JO ANN BLACKMON, age 71, of Cloudland, Georgia, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, in a Rome hospital. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, Mrs. Blackmon was born on December 22, 1951, to the late J. C. and Madelene Ledford Edgeworth. She attended the United by Faith Baptist Church and was retired from Buster Brown, Inc. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Larry Sanford Blackmon, and siblings Betty Siffles, J. T. Edgeworth, Paul Edgeworth, and Norman Edgeworth.

Surviving are son, Michael (Alison) Blackmon; grandchildren, Christian Blackmon, Haven Blackmon, Summer Vaughn, Alicia McGill, Jamison Johnston, Jordan Johnston; several Great Grandchildren; siblings, Lois Reed, Johnny Edgeworth, Tony Edgeworth, and Alvin Edgeworth; several Nieces and Nephews.

LEE

Ray Earl Lee, age 84, Summerville, Ga died January 13, at Atrium Health Floyd. Mr Lee was born November 23, 1938, in Summerville, Ga, son of the late Jess and Della Wooten Lee. He was preceded in death by brothers James Lee and Melvin Lee, and a sister Ruby Lee. He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills where he worked for more than 35 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of South Summerville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Latricia Pettyjohn Lee, daughter Lori Lee Sanders (Brian), son Kevin Ray Lee (Marina), grandchildren Bryn Lee, Jacob Lee (Sunny), Patric Sanders and Meredith Sanders and great grandson Beckham Ray Lee, brothers Fay Lee and Billy Joe Lee and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 15, 2 PM at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 until the service hour with Rev. Robert Pettyjohn and Dr. Gene Greer officiating. Entombment will be at Greenhill Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers are Bryn Lee, Jacob Lee, Patric Sanders, Rob Jacobs, Bradley Lee and Mike Lee.

KEENE

Josephine Knapp Keene, 96, of Lafayette Georgia, wife of the late John Hayes Keene, died Monday, January 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Keene was born in Ridgefield, Connecticut on August 4, 1926. She was the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Coburn) Knapp. She was one of 10 children and grew up on the Knapp Family homestead on Florida Hill Road. Mrs. Keene attended Ridgefield High School. She is retired from the State of Florida as a teacher's aid for the special needs classes to whom she shared her love, compassion and understanding.

Mrs. Keene is survived by her Sons, Jeffrey Keene and his wife Anna, Joel Keene and his wife Cynthia; her Daughter, Joy Hendricks and her husband Zen. Grandsons, Justin Quillen and his wife Amy, Joe Stephenson and his wife Jackie, Drew Hendricks and his wife Brandi, William Hendricks, John A. Keene and his wife Morghan.; Granddaughters, Shannon Chase and her husband Erick, Samantha Braun and her husband Kevin, Jennifer Keene, Charlotte Merwin and her husband Scott, Darla Cox and her husband Ottis, Jessica Quillen, Carla Wallin and her husband Josh, Jodie Vergara and her husband Albert.; One sister, Marjorie Evans; two sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Knapp and Patti Knapp; Great grandchildren, Jesse, Liv, Kaja, Josephine, Timmy, Layla, Skylar, Tessa, Nicole, Alex, Zachary, Freddy, April, Mia, and Andrew.

In addition to her beloved husband of 57 years, Mrs. Keene was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph "Sonny" Knapp, Richard "Bob" Knapp, Edward "Teddy" Knapp, Charles "Mickey" Knapp and four sisters, Florence Hayes, Helen "Tiny" Spadaccino, Dorothy Jacobellis, and Mildred "Plum" Molinaro.

Mrs. Keene, "Franny", was the most amazing mother and grandmother. She put others before herself and helped out in any way she could. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her family. She was such a vital part of our lives it is inconceivable to imagine life without her. She will be missed terribly.

The Keene Family would like to thank the staff of Oakview Rest and Rehab for their loving care and concern for Josephine while she was with them.

Memorial service and interment will be at a later date in Connecticut.

MS. BECKY HOGLUND, age 70, of Trion, Georgia, passed away at her residence, on January 6, 2022, to walk the streets of gold with the angels. She was born in Abilene, Texas on November 13, 1952, a daughter of the late Grant and Naomi Tedder Davison.

Surviving are children, Stefan Hoglund, Heather Breese, Matt Breese, and Wendy Hoglund; grandchildren, Cody Keen, Carly Wigley, and Sydnie Hoglund; great grandchildren, Sophia Keen, Raelyn Keen, and Harrison White; sister, Gartrelle Warnock; borther, Rick Davison; aunt, Pat Stanley.

A Memorial service will be Saturday, January 14th, at 11:30 A.M. from the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ with Ministers Hugh Glaze and Tommy O’Kelley officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Jared Wigley, Tanner White, Alan Baggett, Jim Warnock, Pat Tumisky, and Charles Tumisky. Flowers are excepted at the service or contributions to ALS research, in Becky’s memory.

MRS. LINDA DARLENE BROOME, age 73, of East Armuchee Road-LaFayette, Georgia passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, in a Dalton hospital. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia she was born May 23, 1949 to the late Arthur Teems, Jr. and Isadora Brown Teems. Mrs. Broome was a member of the East Armuchee Baptist Church, a para professional for Whitfield County School system and a former financial officer for Shaw Industries.

Surviving are Her husband, Jack Broome; daughters, Crystal Jackson, Celeste Richards, and Cauprice Clance; grandchildren, Haven Clance, Atticus Clance, and Landry Richards; brother, Steve Teems; several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12th, at 2:00 p.m. from the East Armuchee Baptist Church with Rev. David Pruett and Rev. Larry Scoggins officiating, interment in the East Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery. SILVERS

 Dr. Gary Eugene Silvers, age 58 of Rome, Ga passed away Thursday January 5, 2023, in a Rome hospital. He was born on March 14, 1964, in Summerville, Ga to the late Thomas Alfred Silvers and Kathleen Corbin Silvers who survives.

Dr. Silvers was raised in Summerville, Georgia and was a lifelong member at Calvary Baptist Church. Dr. Silvers lived a very fulfilling and interesting life. Throughout his life, his talents, energy and belief in Jesus Christ allowed him to travel many paths. He spent many years working in the health care industry as well as teaching at Georgia Highlands College in Dallas, Georgia.

He believed in being a life long learner and encouraged that philosophy of those who were close to him. He completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Shorter College. To encourage his children that nothing is impossible, he furthered his education by completing his doctorate in leadership from Tennessee Temple University. He kept Jesus Christ first throughout his journey and was the epitome of the phrase “wise men seek Him.” He decided to attend seminary and obtained an additional master’s degree from Liberty University. He utilized his skills best through music, lectures, testimonies, writings, humor and through his daily existence.

Survivors include his children Alex (Lindsay) Silvers, Blair (Dustin) Knight, and Sara Kate Silvers, three grandchildren; Lily Knight, Stella Knight and Hendrix Silvers; mother Kathleen Silvers; siblings Tammy Mitchell, Rickey Silvers, and Mickey Silvers as well as many nieces and nephews that were very special to him.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9th, at 4:30 P.M. From the J. D. BAIN

MR. DALE BAIN, age 69, of Summerville, Georgia passed away at his residence Thursday, January 5, 2023. He was born in Rome, Georgia on November 2, 1953, son of the late Russell Bain and Haynie Sitton Bain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Benny Bain, David Bain, Charles Bain and sisters, Janet Richardson and Debra Scott. He was employed as a Hyster Driver with Mohawk Industries for a number of years and baptist by faith.

Surviving are his Wife, Wanda Tinney Bain; Sons, Chris Bain and Kevin Bain; Granddaughter, Adalee Bain and a brother, Robert Bain.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7th, at 2:30 p.m. from the Graveside with Rev. Harold Helton and Rev. Mike Odom officiating, interment in Lyerly Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Bucky Chisolm, Jessie Chisolm, Chad Bain, Josh Bain, Brad Walker and Nathan Scott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dale’s Nurse Paige and members of Tapestry Hospice Staff. MRS. DEBORAH (DEBBIE) LYNN CARROLL, age 70, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023. She was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 8, 1952, daughter of Wallace Busby and Evelyn Carpenter Busby. Mrs. Carroll was employed by Mohawk Industries in the Extrusion Department and was Baptist by faith.

Surviving are her husband, James Carroll; Daughter, Alicia (Reuben) Brock; Sons, Jason (Angie) Carroll and Clay (Mamie) Carroll; Bother, Earl Busby; Seven Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 2 p.m. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Hutchins officiating, Interment in Summerville Cemetery. LINDA EARL CALDWELL JONES age 77 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in a Rome Hospital. She was born in Summerville, Georgia, February 12, 1945, daughter to the late Charlie and Irene Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Melvin Timmons, sisters, the late Pamala Jean Caldwell and Barbara Beatrice Caldwell; brothers, the late Charles Leroy Caldwell and George Dewayne Caldwell, and brothers-in-law, the late Johnny Tapp and Danny Kilgore. Linda was a Homemaker and a member of the Harrell Street Church of God.

Surviving are brothers, Ray (Denane) Caldwell and Jerry Caldwell, Rachael (Danny) Kilgore, Doris (Johnny) Tapp.

MRS. KIMBERLY MICHELLE BLACKMON, age 58, of Oak Street- Summerville, Georgia, passed away December 22, 2022, in a Rome hospital following a sudden attack. She was born in Rome, Georgia on December 25, 1963 to the late Helen Marie Ingram Tucker and Frank Joe Evans, who survives. Mrs. Blackmon was a homemaker and member of Harrell Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by husband the late Gregory Scott Blackmon.

Surviving are daughters, Deanna (Josh) Hines and Amber Cothran; sons Stephen Little and Michael Lyons; Father, Frank Joe Evans; sister, Tanja Evans; step siblings, Carl & Mitzi Raymond, Natalie and Gerry Padovano. Cathy Morris, and Sean Tucker; Seventeen Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews.

FULTON

DEWAYNE NEAL FULTON,SR., age 69 Trion, Georgia, passed away December 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Trion, Georgia on December 7, 1953 son to the late Clyde Fulton and Bertha Croy Fulton. He was a Chemical Operator with Omni Nova Solutions, he served in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by a brother Clem Fulton, adopted parents, Jim and Bessie Allen.

Surviving are daughter, Stephanie Nicole Cromer; sons, Dewayne Neal Fulton, Jr., and Scott Allen Fulton; sister, Cindy Bell; brothers, James Fulton and Tim (Nancy) Allen. Nieces and Nephews also survive.
