Mr. Larry E. Mann


MR. LARRY E. MANN, AGE 56, of Menlo, Georgia, passed away Tuesday morning, January 28, 2020, in a Rome hospital. Born in Walker County, Georgia on April 9, 1963, He was a son of William Henry (Gene) and Frances Mae McGraw Mann, who survive. Mr. Mann was the Second Reader at The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Rome, Georgia, and Loan Officer for the Peachstate Federal Credit Union.

Surviving are parents, William Henry (Gene) and Frances McGraw Mann; daughter, Keri Epperson; best friend, Tim Day; sisters, Wanda Alexander and Lisa Turnipseed; brother, Johnny Mann; several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 30th, at 2:00 p.m. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Reader Tim Day officiating, interment in Alpine Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Joshua Epperson, Jackie Pritchett, Justin Ward, Chris Alexander, Ronnie White, Greg Hawkins, and Elijah Parker; Honorary Pallbearers, Employees of Peachstate Federal Credit Union. Mr. Mann's Family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the Funeral Home from 5 until 7 P.M.

Mr. James V. Hayes

MR. JAMES V. HAYES, age 66, of White Oak Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020. He was born February 22, 1953 to the late Thelma Ruth Davenport Hayes and Vernon Hayes, who survives. Mr. Hayes was an auto mechanic and operator of Hayes Muffler Shop.

Surviving are His father, Vernon Hayes; daughter, Dr. Jamie Rollins; son, Matt Hayes; grandchildren, Emily Hayes, Kate Hayes, Sadie Rollins, and Maryn Rollins; sisters, Thelma Hall and Kathy Jarrett; brother, Allen Hayes; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 25th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. David Hayes officiating.

Bonnie Gail Brown

Bonnie Gail Brown, age 66, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at Floyd Medical Center, following an extended illness. A native of Cedartown, Georgia, she was born to the late Alvin L. Brown and Cora Frady Brown on July 19, 1953. Bonnie was employed at Riegel Textiles for many years and later with Walmart. 

Surviving are Son, Jason (Susie) Kellett of Holland; Sisters, Linda (David) Fletcher of Gaylesville, Alabama, and Cora (Marshall) Moseley of Summerville; a Brother, Alvin (Vickie) Brown of Trion; Granddaughter, Savannah Bailey Kellett; Grandsons, Jakub Lloyd and Jaxsun Marcus Kellett all of Summerville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Memorial service will be held Friday, January 24th at 7:00 p.m. from the Teloga Baptist Church located at 506 Keen Road Trion, Georgia 30753 with Pastor Tony Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends at the fellowship hall of the church from 5:00p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Chattooga County Animal Control Shelter in Bonnie's name

Ms. Debbie Wilson Hawkins


Ms. Debbie Wilson Hawkins, age 68, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday morning, January 19, 2020, in a Rome hospital, following an extended illness. A native of Chattooga County, She was born in Trion, Georgia on January 12, 1952 to the late James Aubrey Wilson, Jr. and Nancy Young Wilson, who survives. Debbie was a member of Midway Baptist and formerly worked for Southeast First National Bank in Summerville.

Surviving are her Mother, Nancy Young Wilson; Son, Mark (Melinda) Storey; Granddaughter, Nikki (Brandon) Green; Great Grandchildren, Parris and Hunter; Aunts and Uncle, Montez Gladney, Joan Renslow, Frances Cordle and Linda and Ron Pledger; several cousins also survive.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Peppers and Rev. Larry Brooks officiating. The family request no flowers and suggest contributions to Midway Baptist Church, The American Cancer Society, or Gideons International.

Mr. Thomas Walter "Wally" Laney

MR. THOMAS WALTER “WALLY” LANEY, age 63, of Summerville, Georgia, died suddenly Tuesday, January 14, 2020, in a Rome hospital.  He was a beloved Paw Paw, Dad, Brother, Uncle, and Friend.  Mr. Laney was preceded in death by his parents the late Charlie and Rachel Collum Laney, a sister, Verdice Laney, and wife Sonya Laney.

            He is survived by children, Brittany Laney, Tyler Laney, and Shawn Laney and their mother, Leigh Laney; grandchildren, Daniel, Paul, Thomas, Chyanne, Charleigh, Kevin, and Javen; sisters, Linda Wooten, Delvia Streets, and Darlene Hughes; brother, Rex Laney; several Nieces and Nephews; He was loved by many and will be missed.

            Memorial service Friday, January 17th, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating; Mr. Laney was cremated.

Barbara "Bobbie" Tipton Daniel

Barbara "Bobbie" Tipton Daniel, 87 years old, went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2020 in the home of her daughter Crystal and Son in law Nelson McDaniel in Shelby, NC. Bobbie was born on June 1, 1932 in Chattanooga, TN to Charles and Catharine Tipton. Bobbie was married to James "Jim"  E. Daniel who passed in 1999. She is survived by her two children, Crystal Richards-McDaniel of Shelby NC and David K. Daniel of Lyerly GA. She is also survived by her son in law, Nelson McDaniel, Daughter in Law, Nancy Daniel, One Sister, Nancy Wood of San Diego CA and her Husband Spencer, as well as Bobbie's 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; Kevin Daniel and his wife Leanna of Rome GA and their 2 children Everett and Lydia, Matthew Daniel of Raleigh NC, Andrew Daniel of Lyerly GA and his wife Kristen,  Jacob Richards of Chattanooga TN, Rachel Richards of Shelby NC, and Rosemary Richards of Raleigh NC.  Bobbie's surviving extended Family includes Bob Richards of Chattanooga TN,  her niece, Susan Stewart of Fountain Inn SC and her husband Glenn Campbell, her nephew Skipper Stewart of Calhoun GA and his wife Brenda,  nephew Greg Stewart of Carrollton GA and his wife Patti, and her niece Karen Russo of Los Angeles CA and her husband Michael. As well as a host of friends and students from her daughter's studio who loved her very much.

Bobbie was a member of Summerville First United Methodist Church where she served faithfully for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and worked for over thirty years for Dr. Richard Miller, DDS.  Bobbie will be fondly remembered for her beautiful soprano singing voice, her warm smile, her love of chocolate. and her gracious, loving heart.   She leaves a legacy behind filled with laughter, grace and above all else, love. 

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020, in the Summerville Cemetery at 1pm. All friends and family are invited to attend the service. The Family will receive friends at Summerville First United Methodist Church, also on Saturday, from 11:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M.; in case of inclement weather, the service will also be held at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Summerville First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Cleveland County NC, 951 Wendover Heights Dr, Shelby NC, 28150.

Mrs. Lucille Ramey Dodd Fuller

MRS. LUCILLE RAMEY DODD FULLER, age 94, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday morning, January 7, 2020, in the local nursing home.  A Chattooga Count native, She was born to the late Earl and Ruth Wallin Ramey on July 26, 1925.  Mrs. Fuller was a member of the North Summerville Baptist Church and was retired from Mount Vernon Mills spinning department.  She was preceded in death by husband, the late James Fuller, son, Ken Dodd, and siblings, the late Juanita Dover, Bonnie Ramey, Willard Ramey, J. L. Ramey, and Billy Ramey all passed away previously.

            Surviving are daughter, Brenda Williams; son and spouse, Malcolm and Carolyn Dodd; brother, Tommy Ramey; 10 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9th, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Kelley and Rev. Joel Smith officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers, Scott Dodd, Barry Dodd, Toby Morrison, Wayne Lloyd, Wayne King, and Earle Rainwater; Honorary Pallbearers the Staff of Oakview Nursing and Rehab. Mr. John Wayne Hegwood

MR. JOHN WAYNE HEGWOOD, age 79, of Trion-Teloga Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020, in the local nursing home.  He was born in LaFayette, Georgia, to the late John and Ruth Dempsey Hegwood, on August 8, 1940.  Mr. Hegwood was a member of Pennville Church of Christ and was retired from Mount Vernon Mills in the maintenance department.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Monore, Gene, and Don Hegwood.

            Surviving are His wife, Linda Evatt Hegwood; sons, Michael Hegwood, Jeff Hegwood, and Greg Hegwood; step daughter, Beverly Young; step son, Scott Murray; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services Tuesday, January 7th, at 2:00 P.M. EST, from Graveside in Berea Church of Christ Cemetery, with Ministers Robby Eversole and Dewayne Price officiating.  Active Pallbearers Chance Young, Charles Young, Luke Young, Brandon Wheeler, Jared Hegwood, and Johnny Hegwood;  Honorary Pallbearers, Danny Strickland, Harold Naves, and the Staff of “C” Hall of Oakview Nursing & Rehab. Center.

Ms. Robbie Jean Baker Dooley

MS. ROBBIE JEAN BAKER DOOLEY, age 65, of White Oak Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday morning, January 1, 2020, at her residence.  She was born to the late Orville R. (Doc) White, Sr. and the late Frances Imogene Cochran White on July 31, 1954.  Ms. Dooley was preceded in death by first husband the late Darwin Baker, son the late Aaron Dooley, and former husband the late Tony Dooley.

            Surviving are daughter, Shannon Baker; sons, Nicholas (Amanda) Dooley and Jason (Teresa) Baker; sister, Becky White Humphrey; brother, Orville Robert White, Jr.; 11 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Mosley officiating.  Visitation will be from 2 until 3 P.M. Sunday.
