Mrs. Opal Pickle Smith

MRS. OPAL PICKLE SMITH, age 95, of New Rosedale Road, Armuchee, Georgia, passed away Friday evening, June 19, 2020, in a Rome health care. A native of Lyerly, Georgia, She was born to the late Marvin Bishop and Nellie Margaret Brady Pickle on July 8, 1924. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Floyd- Springs Baptist Church, a Homemaker, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late John Wesley Smith, son, Gary R. Smith, granddaughter, Elizabeth Smith, sister, Lerlene Gilliland, and brother, Elmer Pickle all died earlier.

Surviving are daughter, Amy Smith Johnson; granddaughter, Paige Smith Pittard (Jason), great grandchildren, Joel, Jacob, and Sarah Pittard; daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Carter Smith; brother, Malcolm (Ramona) Pickle; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 22nd, at 10:00 A.M. from Graveside in Lyerly Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Jenkins officiating. Active Pallbearers Jason Pittard, Joel Pittard, Malcolm Gwin Pickle, Tom Pickle, Sam Duncan, Terry Broome. The Family wishes to express “Special Thanks” to Pruitt Health Nursing Home and Pruitt Hospice for the excellent care of Mrs. Smith.

Mrs. Phyllis Marie Battles

MRS. PHYLLIS MARIE BATTLES, age 65, of Foster Manning Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020, in a Rome hospital. She was born in Albany, Georgia on January 17, 1955, to the late Buddy K. and Dorothy Taylor Payne. Mrs. Battles was retired floor manager at Century Glove. She was preceded in death by her parents and also siblings Deborah Carroll and Kenny Payne.

Surviving are children, Robert Earl Battles, Jr. and Misty and Jim Colbert; sisters, Renee Dalton and Wanda Stoker; brother, Buddy W. Payne; grandchildren, Dillan Colbert, Jessi Rinehart, Miracle Battles, Gracie Colbert, Mattie Colbert; four Great Grandchildren; special care giver, Christine Battles; husband, Robert Earl Battles, Sr.; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 19th, at 2:00 P.M., Georgia time, from the Graveside in Mill Creek Cemetery, with Rev. Harold Helton officiating. Active Pallbearers Michael Battles, Justin Rinehart, Dillan Colbert, Bailey Dillard, Michael Cabe, and Jake Burdick. Visitation will also be Friday at Graveside in Mill Creek Cemetery from 1 til 2 P.M. Georgia time.

Mr. L.C. Price

MR. L. C. PRICE, age 84, of Pine Hill Drive, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Chattoogaville Community, Lyerly, Georgia on October 21, 1935, to the late Nish and Haney McClusky Price. Mr. Price was a member of the Palm Springs AME Zion Church, a Veteran of Korea serving in the U. S. Air Force, and was a retired construction contractor. In addition to Parents He was preceded in death by sons, the late Ralph Price and Brent Price and brothers, the late Elmer Price, Charles Price, and Joe Price.

Surviving are wife, Martha Money; children, Johnny Price, James Price, Cedric Price, Charlene Draper, Tracey Montgomery, Tamesha Shropshire, Buffy Patel, and Audrey Martin; siblings, Naomi Robbs, Betty Ann Price, Jan Golden, Dan Price, Roger Price, and Marshall Price; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Graveside, in Summerville Cemetery, with Rev. Robert Barrett and Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating. American Legion Shanklin/Attaway Post #5, Rome, Georgia will render Military Honors. Active Pallbearers, Chase Lively, Nish Patel, Dee Price, Brannon Price, Allen Keen, Matthew Money, and Marvin Timmons. Visitation will be at Graveside in Summerville Cemetery from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday.
