STRANGE

MR. LEWIS WESLEY STRANGE, age 72, of Sand Pit Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away December 28, 2022, at the residence. He was born in Chattooga County on June 15, 1950, to the late Raymond and Emma Maxine Helton Strange. Known as “Louie The Liberal”, He graduated from Chattooga High School in 1969 and Georgia State University in 1974, was a Veteran of Viet Nam serving in the U. S. Army Military Police. Mr. Strange was a retired Businessman and was preceded in death by brothers, the late Ricky Charles Strange, John Joseph Strange, and Marty Ray Strange.

Surviving are daughter, Raquel Lea Pace; grandchildren, Laura Gowan, Jimmy Gowan, and Jesse Gowan; sisters, Patty (Paul) Brison and Sally (Bev) Strange; brother, Bobby Strange; Five Nieces and Four Nephews also survive.

A Private Memorial service will be held at a later date.

BLACK

MRS. POLLY ANN DARDEN BLACK, age 54, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, in a Rome hospital, following an extended illness. She was born in Summerville, Georgia on February 6, 1968, a daughter of the late Annie Doris Darden. Mrs. Black was a Homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Tommy Black.

Surviving are daughters, Brillance Darden, Essence Darden, and Moriah Richardson; sons, Chase Darden, Jonas Darden, and Kaine Darden; Four Grandchildren also survive.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 30th, at 11:00 A.M. from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery, with Bishop V. T. Harden officiating. The Family will receive friends Friday from 10 until 10:45 A.M. at the Funeral Home.

MILLER

MR. AUSTIN LEVI MILLER, age 25, of Wade Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, in a Rome Hospital. He was born in Rome, Georgia on September 28, 1997, son of Lola Laney and Bobby Miller.

He was a member of United by Faith Baptist Church. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by grandparents, Morgan Laney and Beverly Jackson and also great grandparents, Annalee and Marvin Dotson.

Surviving are mother & fiance, Lola Laney & Jay Ledford; father, Bobby Miller; grandparents, Darrell and Dianne Welch;; sisters, Lacy Miller, Renae & John McGraw, Abby Payne; brother, Tyler Miller; Niece, Gracelyn McGraw; several Cousins, Aunts and Uncles also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 23, 2022 at 2 p.m. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Brother John McGraw officiating, Interment in Garrett Cemetery. Active Pallbearers, Q Neal, Simon Carter, Morgan Laney, Seth Davis, Chandler Laney and Skylar Laney. Honorary Pallbearers, Jay Ledford, Lee Laney, Bobby Miller, and Gilbert Laney. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until the hour of service.

SILVERS

Mr. Tom Silvers, age 83, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, in a Rome hospital. He was born on September 3, 1939, to the late Paul Silvers and Louise Morrison Silvers. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Silvers, and a granddaughter, Jaden Mitchell. Mr. Silvers was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Silvers; a daughter Tammy (Jamie) Mitchell, sons – Mickey (Marilyn) Silvers, Rickey (Brenda Wade) Silvers, and Gary Silvers; sister, Paulette (Stan) Barker; Ten Grandchildren, Thirteen Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive..

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21, at 2:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Ministers Danny Decker and Rickey Biddle officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers, Austin Mitchell, Derek Mitchell, Alex Silvers, Chris Corbin, Nicholas Dooley, and Chris Harris. The Family will receive friends Wednesday from Noon until 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

ECHOLS

MR. GREG ECHOLS, age 61, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his residence, following an extended illness. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, he was born on February 4, 1961, to the late John B. Echols, Jr. and Betty Morrison Bagley who survives. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by step mother, Pam Tauzer-Echols. Mr. Echols was Fire Chief for ten years and served a total of 34 years with the Summerville Fire Department, was Owner/Operator of Echols Appliance, and a member of Summerville First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Stephenson Echols; mother and step father, Betty Morrison and Roger Bagley; children, Matthew Bryan & Lauren Mitchell Echols, Jessica & Nathan Flood, Rachel & Drew Hamilton; grandchildren, Jackson Berry Echols, Caroline Ann Echols, Samuel Ellis Flood: sister, Terri & Tim Young; brother, Jim Echols; aunt, Honey & Dale Housch; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22nd, at 2:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Chaplain Ronnie Cowart officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Fire Fighters of Summerville Fire Department; Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Bowman, Eric Reynolds, Matt Veatch, Lamar Fowler, Tommy Dillard, Dennis Bullard, and Scott Brown. The Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

PADGETT

MISS MARY ANN PADGETT, age 59, of Martin Street, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in a Rome hospital. A native of Chattooga County, She was born to the late Charles Leroy and Kathryn Ophelia Priest Padgett on March 21, 1963. Mary previously worker in the turning department of Century Glove Company. In addition to Parents, She was preceded in death by her sister, the late Kathy Michell Padgett Baker.

Surviving are brother-in-law, Darryl Baker; several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17th, at 12:00 noon from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery. The Family will receive friends, Saturday from 11:00 until 11:45 A.M. at the Funeral Home.
