Mrs. Mary Ruth Smith

MRS. MARY RUTH SMITH, age 81, of James Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday morning at her residence. Born in Trion, Georgia on July 23,1932 She was a daughter of the late Columbus (Lum) and Hettie Mae Mason Bing. Mrs. Smith was retired from the weave shop of Mt. Vernon Mills and a member of New Faith Tabernacle. Preceded in death besides Her Parents are granddaughter-Joanie Mae Hathcock; great grandchildren-Alisha Nell Robison and Chloe Hearlson; son-in-law Jerry Lee Lindsey, and step sons-David Ronald Smith, Sr. and Larry Keith Smith, Sr. Surviving are husband-David Smith; daughters & sons-in-law-Nelda Rebecca Lindsey of Summerville, Denise Gezell & John Paul Ramey, Sr. of Box Springs, GA., Tina & Gerald Hearlson of Phenix City, AL., Jacqueline Kay Bates & Charles Hooker, III, Linda Joan Hathcock & Jimmy Leffew of Summerville, Mary Opal Kirby of Summerville; sons & daughters-in-law-Danny Ray Colbert & Rose Reese of Lagrange, Kenneth Dale & Kimberly Colbert of Speedwell, VA., Michael Parnell & Debbie Colbert of Summerville; sister-Evelyn Itson of Rome; brothers & sisters-in-law-James & Shirley Bing of LaFayette, Thomas & Donna Bing of Rome, and Frank & Eileen Bing of Rome; Thirty Grandchildren, 55 Great Grandchildren, 7 Great Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews. Mrs. Geneva Mae "Dimple" McKin Gladney

MRS. GENEVA MAE “DIMPLE” McKIN GLADNEY, age 86, of James Street Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday afternoon at her residence. She was born in Dalton, Georgia on February 2, 1928, a daughter of the late Homer and Effie Beatrice Grant McKin. Mrs. Gladney was a member of New Generation Christian Church, retired self-employed barber, and was preceded in death by her husband the late William Eugene (Gene) Gladney and son E. P. Gladney. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law-Tammy Gladney & Charles Keen; grandchildren-Carla Gladney & Eric Ware; great grandson-Tyler Powell all of Summerville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 4:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Elder Cecil Watkins and Bishop Danny Harkins officiating, interment in the McKin-Gladney Family Cemetery. Mrs. Mary Katherine (KK) Bullard

MRS. MARY KATHERINE (KK) BULLARD, age 57, of Echols Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014, in a Rome hospital. She was born in Summerville, Georgia on July 25, 1956 to the late Roy F. Camp and Katherine Echols Camp who survives. Mary was a member of Perennial-Springs Baptist Church, had served in law enforcement for 33 plus years and presently was Corporal for the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office. Surviving are husband-Steve Bullard; mother-Katherine Camp; son & daughter-in-law-Charlie & Samantha Bullard; sister-Caroline Green; grandson-Camp Bullard; special niece-Marti Katherine Green all of Summerville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22nd) at 12:00 noon from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Woods officiating, interment in the family plot of Perennial Springs Cemetery. Mr. Robert Prather

MR. ROBERT PRATHER, age 68, of Filter Plant Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at his residence. A native of Canton, Georgia, He was born on September 6, 1945 to the late William Gideon and Bessie Burgess Prather. He was a brick mason, member of New Antioch Baptist Church, served two tours in Viet Nam, Veteran in the U.S. Navy C.Bs; where he acquired the rank of E-5, Builder Petty Officer 2nd Class, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Insignia, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He was preceded in death by brother & sisters-in-law-Donald & Carol Prather, Kristina Prather and brothers-in-law-Bill Blackwell, Ronald Blackwell, Ralph Blackwell, and Tommy Blackwell. Surviving are His wife of 43 years Wanda Jo Prather; daughter & son-in-law-Elena & Matt Floyd of Summerville; grandchildren-Anna, Jamey, and Will Floyd; sister & brother-in-law-Betty & Tommy Turner of Clarksville, TN.; brothers & sisters-in-law-James Prather of Jasper, John & Linda Prather of Marietta, Jerry & Shelley Prather of Lilburn; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law-Don & Nancy Blackwell, Bob & Diane Blackwell, Dan & Cristy Blackwell, Gary & Teresa Blackwell, Sara Anna & Mike Stoker; several Nieces and Nephews. Mr. William Harold Kendrick

MR. WILLIAM HAROLD KENDRICK, age 75, of Orchard Hill Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away at his residence. A native of Chattooga County, He was born on October 6, 1938 to the late Otto Thomas and Emmie Teague Kendrick. Mr. Kendrick served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, was a member of Lyerly Lodge #338 F & AM, was retired from General Electric, and together with his wife, the late JoAnn Wilkey Kendrick, owned and operated the former Round Table Restaurant. He was Baptist by Faith and in addition to his Wife was preceded in death by a brother, the late Tommy Kendrick. Surviving are daughter-Cheryl Ann Mobbs of Summerville; son-Thomas Harold Kendrick of Summerville; grandchildren-Allison Joanna Harris, Bianca Diane Mobbs, and Tylen Harold Kendrick; sister-Meriana Romantz of Warren, Mich.; brothers-Charles Kendrick and Donnie Kendrick both of Rome; several Nieces and Nephews. MR. BOBBY J.R. TAPP, age 78, of Maplewood Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, February 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born in LaFayette, Georgia on March 18, 1935 to the late Hoyle and Dorothy Raines Tapp. He was retired truck salesman. Surviving are sons-Benny Wayne Tapp of Huntsville, AL. and Michael Joseph Tapp of Georgetown, GA.; 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Sunday (February 16th) at 3:30 P.M. from the Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating. Mr. Freddie Eugene Reynolds

MR. FREDDIE EUGENE REYNOLDS, age 79, of Bittings Avenue, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday evening in the local nursing home. A lifetime resident of Summerville, He was born on July 28, 1934 to the late Gordon and Lillian Tudor Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds was a retired automobile mechanic and for many years was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Wanda Carol McCaulie Reynolds in 2006. Surviving are daughter-Kimberly Smith of Ringgold; sons-Jackie Lee Reynolds of Ringgold and Tim Reynolds of Summerville; brothers-Henry Reynolds of Trion and Jerry Reynolds of LaFayette; grandchildren-Jonathan Reynolds U.S. Army, Ciera Reynolds, and Justin Smith of Ringgold. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions for final expenses. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Robert Hugh Hawkins

Mr. Robert Hugh Hawkins, age 81, of Cloudland, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, evening in Austell, Georgia. A native of Cloudland, He was born on February 4, 1933 to the late Riley Monroe and Susie Alma Chislom Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church. He supervised the construction of Nuclear cooling towers at Tullahoma, Tennessee and Scottsboro, Alabama. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He loved his Family and Lookout Mountain and was a lifelong proud resident of Cloudland, Georgia. He was preceded in death by the following siblings-Gordon Hawkins, Sidney Hawkins, Myrtle Willingham, Fred Hawkins, Sudie Mae Hawkins, Ralph Hawkins, Thelma Wofford, Sue Reeves, Max Hawkins, and Riley Hawkins. Surviving are His wife-Catherine Gorham Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tim Sims, Kennesaw; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Hugh and Tracy Hawkins, Cloudland; grandsons-James Alexander Sims and Andrew Robert Sims; great grandson-Colton Tanner Sims; sister-Marie Wofford; several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 16th, at 1:30 P.M. from Graveside in Cloudland Presbyterian Cemetery, with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating, active pallbearers Lee Hawkins, Steve Wofford, Mark Wofford, Tony Jones, Dennis Bryant, Albert Palmour.
