She graduated from Fairbluff High school, North Carolina. She met her husband while vacationing with her cousin in Georgia, married, and moved to Chatooga county Georgia and lived there for 50 years until relocating to Clover, South Carolina, in 2007 to be closer to their only daughter and her family. Ella Mae loved her family and made them her priority. She loved church, gardening (roses were her favorite!), cooking, and southern gospel singing. She also had the opportunity to travel across the United States and Europe when visiting Charlotte and Bob at their military base assignments.
Ella Mae is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte H. and Robert Dowd of Clover, South Carolina; two grandchildren: Carin Scott (Ryan) of Cary, NC and Jeff Dowd of Austin, TX; and three great- grandchildren: Jordan, Aidan, and Brenna Scott of Cary, NC; and three nephews and three nieces.
A special thank you to Libby Issacs who was her wonderful caregiver for four years..
