A native of Trion, Georgia, He was born to the late Otha and Thelma Rush, on April 26, 1939. Mr. Rush was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church, a Veteran of the U. S. Army, and was retired from commercial finance.
Surviving are daughters, Debra Koertge (Richard), Linda Barbagallo (Sal), and Barbara Schafer (Kurt); son, John Rush; sister, Marilyn Wood; grandchildren, Natalie Whigham, Laura Bargagallo, Ashley Fred, Christopher Koertge, Christian Schafer, and Grace Schafer; great granddaughter, Olivia Whigham; niece, Susan Murdock (Todd); great nieces, Graci Murdock and Chloe Murdock; special friend, Norma Ables.

MRS. BARBARA DIANNE BLACKWELL, age 75 of Summerville, Georgia went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 15th, 2022. She was born on November 3, 1946, to the late Buford and Mary Ruth Smith. Mrs. Blackwell was employed with Mohawk Industries for 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, admired by many and known to all simply as Nanny. She loved sitting on her front porch enjoying her two cats and feeding her squirrels and birds. She was a member of Berryton Baptist Church. In addition to Her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Odell Johnston; brothers, Wayne, Joe, and Martin Smith; sisters, Lou Payne, Faye Buffington, and Redonna Green.
Surviving are her husband of 58 loving years of marriage, Bob Blackwell; three daughters, May Ann (Donny) Blackwell, Karen (Steve) Odom, and Renee Blackwell; 5 grandchildren, Brittney (Michael) Nicholson, Dustin Blackwell, Erika (Keith) Simmons, Sara Jo Haney and Jacob Odom; 7 great grandchildren, Molly and Evie Nicholson, Jet Johnson, Dartey Robert and Sutton Grace Blackwell and Sophia and Greyson Simmons; sister, Cindy (Jim) Cotten, along with several nieces and nephews.

MAXEY
MRS. SHIRLEY MAXEY, age 88, of Martha Berry Highway, Rome, Georgia, passed away Thursday evening in a Rome Hospital, following an unexpected illness.
She was born in Summerville, Georgia on November 27, 1933, to the late James Thomas and Della Mae Allen Holt. Mrs. Maxey was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was retired Teacher for the Floyd Training Center in Rome. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Dewey Jesse Maxey, a son, the late Michael Cavin Maxey, and a brother, the late Tommy Holt.
Surviving are her children, Dewey Alan and Carol Maxey and Sonya Dawn and Greg Montgomery; grandchildren, Jesse and Justin Montgomery, James Maxey, and Bethany Mooneyhan; Eight Great Grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Jones; brother, Vernon Holt; daughter-in-law, Tori Underwood; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16th, at 11:00 a.m. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Montgomery and Rev. James Baird officiating, interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. MR. THOMAS CLEVELAND (T.C.) PLEDGER, age 88, of Grand Eight Lane, Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2022, at his residence. A native of Boaz, Alabama, he was born to the late Herman John Thomas Pledger and Bessie Turner Pledger on September 30,1933. Mr. Pledger was retired Owner and Operator of Pledger Automotive, was member and deacon of New Beginnings Baptist Church and was choir Director in Baptist Church for over 40 years. Mr. Pledger was a Veteran of Korea serving in the United States Army, was a member and past Master of Alpine Lodge #211 F & AM, was past President of the Chattooga County Shrine Club, and a member of Gideons International. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Dorothy Beatrice Dooley Pledger on August 26, 2021, his parents, a daughter, the late Reda Gail Pledger, sisters, the late Betty Johnson and Gay Nell Shaw, and a brother, the late James Lewis (Pat) Pledger.
Surviving are his daughter and spouse, Connie and Othell Stone; sons and spouses, Steve and Jill Pledger and Tommy and Kim Pledger; grandchildren, Amanda Long, Justin Stone, Leslie Boston, Brianna Stone, Zach Pledger, Lann Pledger, Trevor Pledger, and Natalie Burdick; Twenty Great Grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Bob) Pledger, Artis Pledger, and Bill Pledger. GLOVER
Honey was born in Lindale GA to Comer and Martha Mathis Turley. She was a graduate of Rome High and a 1951 graduate of Shorter College (now Shorter University) where she earned a BA degree in Art. After graduation in 1951, she joined American Airlines as a flight attendant up until marriage in September of 1953 to a young US Air Force First Lieutenant Alex Glover (married for 66 years). She later taught art at East Rome Junior High and was an accomplished photographer. She was an early pioneer of infra-red aerial photography to locate buried historical artifacts which was used to locate artifacts for the Chieftains Museum in Rome which was the home of Principle Cherokee Chief John Ross who signed the New Echota Agreement for the Cherokee removal “The Trail of Tears”. She and her husband Alex Sr. where members and Elders of the Cloudland Presbyterian Church in Cloudland, GA. She was also a member of the William Marsh Chapter (Lafayette, GA) of the Daughters of The American Revolution and the Junior Service League of Rome, GA.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Laura Glover Whitton, a sister Patty Turley Foxworth, and her husband Alexander S. Glover, Sr.
She is survived by sons Alex Glover, Jr (Debbie) of Little Switzerland, NC, Sam Glover (Liz) of Menlo, GA, and a daughter Lynn Holloway (Mark) of Mentone AL, Grandchildren Blake Glover of Charlotte, NC, Evan Holloway of Armuchee, GA, Allison Holloway of Mentone, AL, Lainey Glover of Roswell, GA, and Kain Glover of Athens, GA.; a sister Joanne Bugg (Frank) of Big Canoe, GA and a brother Comer Turley, Jr. (Hennie) of Dalton, GA along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6th, at 11:00 A.M. from the Cloudland Presbyterian Church with Mr. David Tidmore officiating, interment in Cloudland Presbyterian Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Kain Glover, Evan Holloway, Blake Glover, David Allgood, Nick Price, Jeremiah Rohr, and Chris Brown. Visitation will be Friday from 10 until 11 A.M. At the Church.
