SPRAGGINS

MRS. CAROLYN A. SPRAGGINS, age 79, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in a Rome Hospital. She was born in Trion, Georgia on February 21, 1943 a daughter of the late Johnnie and Gladys Searles Ivey. Mrs. Spraggins was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church, was retired from Best Manufacturing Company Sewing Department, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Charles W. Spraggins on December 9, 2014.

Surviving are daughter, Penny and Pat Headrick; son, Chad and Tara Spraggins; grandchildren, Ryan Headrick, Whitney and Wesley Dobbins, Sierra Campbell, and Jacob Spraggins; great grandchildren Ruby Dobbins and Rory Dobbins; sisters, Jane and Mike Floyd and Debbie and Arnold Kilgo; brothers, Dennis and Joan Ivey, Steve and Yvonne Ivey; special friend, John William Thomas; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 29th, at 2:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Summey officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Active Pallbearers will be Jacob Spraggins, Ryan Headrick, Wesley Dobbins, Steven Fountain, Mickey Floyd, Mark Floyd. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2 :00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

DODD

MRS. CAROLYN HOWELL DODD, age 78, of Red Leaf Lane, Summerville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence Tuesday, October 25, 2022. A native of Trion, She was born on February 22, 1944 to the late Earl and Bonnie Tidmore Howell. Carolyn was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church and prior to retirement was payroll clerk for Mount Vernon Mills.

Surviving are Her husband, Malcolm Dodd; sons, David and Darlene Lloyd, Wayne Lloyd and Cristy Blair, Barry and Ernie Dodd, Scott and Natalie Dodd; Eleven Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 27th, at 6:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Smith and Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie and Babs White, Bobby Ward, Don Henderson, Susan Wallin, Vicki Holbrooks, Jason Tucker, and all former Co-Workers. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. The Family request no flowers and suggest contributions to the American Kidney Foundation or a charity of choice.

HYDE


MR. CARL MARION HYDE, JR., age 89, formerly of Dunwoody, Georgia, moved to Summerville after the passing of his wife, Ann, in 2020; passed away Monday, October 24, 2022, in a Rome hospital. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, He was born on May 28, 1933 to the late Carl Marion Hyde, Sr. and Ruby Mavity Hyde. Mr. Hyde was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Navy and member of Loganville American Legion Post #0233; later operated his own Insurance Agency for Nationwide Insurance. He was a Master Mason for 60 years and member of Chamblee-Sardis Lodge #444, F & A M, was a Shriner and member of Yaarab Shrine Temple, also a Wall of Fame Member of Yaarab Shrine. Mr. Hyde was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church of Dunwoody and was preceded in death by his wife the late Ann Wigley Hyde. A special THANK YOU, to the staff and residents of Brookdale Senior Living , in Rome, for their love and care during the past seventeen months.

Surviving are daughter, Teresa Hyde Groce (Don); son, Richard Lee Hyde; sisters-in-law, Cindy Bennett Hyde and Sally Hyde; grandchildren, Brad Groce (Kari), Natalie Williams (Jacob), Spencer Hyde, Jared Groce (Rachel), and Nathan Hyde (Cassandra); Ten Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

Memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 1st, at 9:00 A.M. from Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.

BALDWIN

MR. MAX RUSSELL BALDWIN, Sr., age 85, of Dry Valley Church Road Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday August 25th, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 5, 1937, son of the late Archie R. and Annie Ruth Baines Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin retired in 1980 as a Major in the United States Army serving in Vietnam two terms and achieved Master Senior Aviator. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, the late Gracie Ruth Hall.

Surviving are his loving Wife, Peggy Shamblin Baldwin; Daughter, Virginia Ruth Baldwin; Sons, Max Russell Baldwin II and Patrick S. Baldwin, M.D.; Grandchildren, Cassidy Shea Baldwin, M.D, Dylan Shamblin Baldwin, Catlin Rae Meredith, Max Edwin Kohl, James Ryan Kohl and Islay Ruth Kohl.

Entombment service will be held on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, at 2:30 P.M. in Greenhills Memory Garden, with Military honors rendered by American Legion Post #5 Shanklin-Attaway Honor Guard.

STONER

MRS. VERNICE HAWKINS STONER, age 98, of Hickory Withe, Tennessee, formerly of Trion, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at her residence. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, she was born on January 26, 1924 to the late Roy Z. and Charlsey Elizabeth (Lizzie) Owens Hawkins of Little Sand Mountain, Georgia. Mrs. Stoner was a member of Pennville First Baptist Church and was retired from the packing department of Mount Vernon Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Melvin (PJ) Stoner; siblings the late J. R. Hawkins, J. V. “Shorty” Hawkins, William R. (Bill) Hawkins, Leon Hawkins, Bobby F. Hawkins and Carlton A. Hawkins.

Survivors include Son and daughter-in-law, Dr. M. Tod Stoner (Lynne); Grandchildren, Capt. Benjamin T (Kara) Stoner (USMC), Michael A. Stoner, Christopher N. (Leanne) Stoner, Maxwell J. (Valerie) Stoner, Hannah E. Stoner, Rebekah L. Stoner (Caleb) Coquat, Mary Catherine Stoner, and Daniel N. Stoner; Great Grandsons, Nathaniel Lee Coquat and Jackson Tod Stoner, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8th, at 2:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. William Spink, Jr. and Rev. Michael Hawkins officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Active Pallbearers will be Benjamin Stoner, Michael Stoner, Christopher Stoner, Maxwell Stoner, Daniel Stoner and Bobby Hannah. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joyce Hannah Watson, Carter Turner, Scott and Carol Tucker, Peggy Sumner, Richard and Melanie Sumner, Deborah Williams, Dot Shankles, Glenda Holbrooks. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday from Noon until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the Family requests donations be made in her honor to: Page Robbins Adult Center, 1961 S.
