Mr. James Rowan Hicks

MR. JAMES ROWAN (RYAN) HICKS, age 89, of Little Sand Mt. Road, Armuchee, Georgia passed away Thursday morning, February 1, 2018, in a Rome hospital. Mr. Hicks was born October 14, 1928 in Floyd County, Georgia, a son of the late Grady L. and Bernie Rowan Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army, formerly delivered Double Cola in this area, was owner of Tidings Grocery and Dirt Town Deli. He was preceded in death by brothers, Sherman, John, Winford, and Leonard Hicks, and a grandson Scott Smith.

            Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Frances Stoker (Tommie) Hicks; daughter, Darlene Phillips; sons and; daughters-in-law, Mike (Gayle) Hicks; Mark (Chrystal) Hicks; Grandchildren: Jesse Hicks, Matt Hicks, Marisa Grogan; Great Grandchildren, Aly Smith, Bowie Hicks, Shannen Hernandez, Fisher Grogan; brother, Jere (Dora) Hicks; Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Monday, February 5th, at 1:00 P.M. from graveside in the Summerville Cemetery, with Rev. Miles Phillips officiating. Active Pallbearers Jesse Hicks, Kyle Hicks, Trent Hicks, Wendell Hicks, Kippy Marks, Stevie Lingerfelt; Honorary Pallbearers will be the Armuchee High School Girls Basketball Team and the Girls of Dirt Town Deli. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 4th, from 1:30 to 3:30 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Ms. Rhoda Lynn Howell

MS. RHODA LYNN HOWELL, age 58, of Allen Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in a Rome hospital.  Ms. Howell was born in Trion, Georgia on May 24, 1959, a daughter of the late Mike Howell and Rachel Lambert Adair.  She was a member of Gaylesville First Baptist Church and a retired computer consultant. She was preceded in death by special friend, George Treadaway, in December, 2015.

            Surviving are special aunts, Carolyn Dodd and Becky McCary; uncles Rayburn Lambert and Terry Howell; step daughter and spouse, Dana and Ivan Holden; step grandchildren, LeAnn and Levi; special first cousins, LaDon Odom and Neal Shropshire.

            Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3rd, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Nixon officiating.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brenda McNair Chambers



            Mrs. Brenda McNair Chambers, 71 of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in a Rome hospital.  A native of Chattooga County, She was born to the late Carman McNair and Faye Belle Whitley Johnson on January 1, 1947.  Mrs. Chambers was retired from the Roper electrical assembly line and attended Central Avenue Baptist Church.

            Surviving are daughters & son-in-law, Amy Ward and Mary Beth & Darren Morrison; grandsons, Micah Hughes, Mason Hughes, and Brandon Morrison; sister, Gail Henry; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27th, at 3:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Bishop officiating, Interment will be in the Berryton Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers: Micah Hughes, Mason Hughes, Tommy Grimes, Marty Culpepper, Mickey Hughes, and Jehrome Myrick.   The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 P.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rosa Lee Luallen

MRS. ROSA LEE LUALLEN, age 73, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 in a Rome hospital. Native of Chattooga County, she was born on June 27, 1944 to the late Cicero Fowler, Sr. and Roberta Hunter Fowler. Ms. Luallen was a avid gardener; was preceded in death by her Husband, the late Billy Luallen, Brothers, the late Marshall Hunter, Doley Harris, Cicero Fowler, Jr.,  and Jerry Fowler; Sister, the late Patricia Ann Blackmon.

            Surviving are a Sister; Dee Fowler, Nieces whom she raised; Jessica Park, Erica Wilson, and Gabby Culberson, Special Niece; Dottie Dutton, Special Great Niece; Kylee Park, Special Great Nephews; Cody Park, and Kaleb Park; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry & Janice Luallen and Jo Pierce; several other nieces and nephews also survive.

          Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 12 Noon from the J.D. Memorial Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Smith and Rev. Jacky Dutton, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in the Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Jacky Dutton, Jr., Kaleb Park, Cody Park, Monroe Smith, Jonathan Blackmon, and Bryant Park III.  Honorary Pallbearers are Nicky Carter and Johnny Blackmon. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sarah Jane Hood

MRS. SARAH JANE HOOD, aged 96, of Summerville, Georgia, Telloga Community, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018, in a Chattanooga hospital.  Native of Summerville, Georgia, She was born to the late Willie Calvin and Mittie Gertrude Cook Cooper, on December 13, 1921.  Mrs. Hood was a member of Beersheba Presbyterian Church, retired from the spinning department of Reigel Textile Corporation, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late J. B. Hood and son, the late Ralph Hood.

            Surviving are daughter & son-in-law, Christie & John Westall; granddaughters & husbands, Sandra Hood Woods & Mark Woods, Ariel & Jorge Martinez; grandson, Zachary Westall; great granddaughter, Tiffany Woods; nieces & nephews, Joan DuBois, H.D. “Bud” Cooper, Ann Ward, Lee Cooper, Tim Cooper, Gina Smith, Paul Cooper, Stevie Gillman, Brian Cooper, Gary Cooper, Danny Lee Cooper, Tommy Cooper.

            Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26th, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Westlund officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden.  Active Pallbearers will be members of the Teloga Fire Department; Honorary Pallbearers Donald, Russ, John, and Rodney Blackwell, Gene Wesson, John Knox, Jeff Ward, Jeff Eubanks, and Lee Cooper.  The Family will receive friends Thursday 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers the Family suggest contributions to the Beersheba Presbyterian Church.
