MS. CATHERINE MANNING, age 74, of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012, in a Rome hospital. She was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on April 21, 1937 to the late Foster and Ruth Brewer Manning. A member of Lyerly United Methodist Church, Ms. Manning was retired School Teacher from the Floyd and Chattooga County systems.
Surviving Christine Battles, Phyllis & Earl Battles, Robert Battles, Misty & Jim Colbert, Gracie & Madison Colbert, Miracle Battles, Dillan & Jessi Colbert, and Ted Fuller.

MRS. BETTY JUNE HELTON, age 85, of Rome, Georgia formerly of Chattooga County, passed away Friday (February 24, 2012) in a LaFayette nursing home. A native of Berryton, Georgia, She was born to the late Dallas and Virginia Koonce Berry on October 24, 1926. Mrs. Helton was a member of West Rome Baptist Church and was a secretary for the Rome News Tribune retired. She was preceded in death by husband the-late Alvin H. Helton, brother-the late Billy Berry, and nephew-the late John Berry.
Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Diane & Jehrome Myrick and Debbie Helton all of Trion; son-Phil Helton of Rome; grandchildren-Misty & Jason Copeland, Kristy Treadaway, Kevin & Kim Payton, Lauren & Robbie Womack, Jonathan Helton, and Carla Lucas; 7 Great Grandchildren; nephew-William Berry of Arizona.

REV. J. B. McNEIL, age 81, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Thursday morning (February 23, 2012) at His residence. A native of Franklin, Georgia He was born to the late H. A. and Bessie Brittain McNeil on June 25, 1930. Rev. McNeil was a member of the North Georgia Conference of United Methodist Church having pastored numerous Churches during his career. He was preceded in death by Parents and six Siblings. MRS. CHARLOTTE KAY TODD, age 70, of Highway #114-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday morning (February 20, 2012) at her residence. Born in Chattooga County, Georgia on May 20, 1941, She was a daughter of the late Robert Johnson and the late Clara Hammitt Smith. Mrs. Todd was a member of the Pennville Church of Christ and a Beautician. She was preceded in death by her Parents, a brother-the late Robert Alvin Johnson, and a nephew–the late Danny Johnson.

MR. EUGENE DENNEY, age 74, of Orchard Hill Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012, evening at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Huntsville, Alabama, He was born on July 26, 1937. Mr. Denney was a Veteran of Korea serving in the U.S. Navy and was retired from law enforcement and the security industry.

MRS. JACQUELIN MARIE SCOTT, age 75, of Dalton, Georgia passed away Saturday night, February 4, 2012 in a Dalton hospital. Mrs. Scott was born in Rome, Georgia on June 22, 1937, a daughter of the late George Henry and Clarice Everett Johnson. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by two brothers- Jerry Lee Johnson and Michael Henry Johnson.
Survivors include her husband Bob Scott; daughter- Vicki Marie Scott of Dalton; sons- Robert Van Scott and Michael Lee Scott (Amy Lennette) all of Rome. Grandchildren- Johnathan Lee Scott, Christopher Michael Scott and Rebecca Marie Scott; dogs- B.J., Abbey and Lady.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 4 P.M., February 8th, from Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Graves officiating, interment in Oak Knoll Memorial Gardens. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Dewey Karl and Susie Ann Rodgers Mitchell on October 8, 1933. Mrs. Powell was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, retired from the spinning department of Riegel Textile Corporation, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by husband the late Lawrence W. Powell, Sr.
Surviving are daughter-Patsy McGarty of Rex, GA; sons-Sam White of Dallas, GA, Dennis White of Odgen, KA, LaVon White, Jr. of Memphis, TN, and Douglas Powell of Mentone; sisters-Orleane Miller of Flint, MI, Ann Brown of Trion; brothers-D.C. Mitchell, Jr. and Malcolm Mitchell both of Menlo, Glenn Mitchell of Trion, and Larry Mitchell of LaFayette; 15 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MR. JOHN GRADY RODGERS, age 85, of Trion, Ga. Passed away Friday afternoon in the local Nursing Home. Mr. Rodgers was born in Broometown, Alabama March 17, 1926, a son of the late John Newton and Verdie Beatrice Gardner Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers was a Member and Deacon of Central Avenue Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy, and a retired self-employed Carpenter. He was preceded in death by siblings: Jessie Rodgers, Don Rodgers, Wayne Rodgers, Bill Rodgers, Evelyn White, Winnie Robinson and Susie Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife Willie Bell Rodgers; sister Luckie Bynum of Chattanooga, TN; brother -J. E. Rodgers of Colonial Heights, VA.; several Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Dixie Y. Faulkner Brown, age 74, of Summerville, Georgia, Dry Creek Community, formerly of Conyers, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Born in Lulu, Georgia on April 29, 1937 She was daughter of the late Mable Jean Faulkner. Mrs. Brown was Mormon by Faith, was retired keypunch operator for Kraft Foods, and an avid gardner.
Surviving are her husband-T.O. (Thadys) Brown; daughters-Cheryl Brown of Atlanta, Carol Brown Spring of Huntsville, AL., and Chiara Brown of Mobile, AL.; grandchildren-Cherika Brown, Chris Brown, Travis Lynn, and Desiree’ Spring; great granddaughter-Hazel Lynn.

A native of Walker County, Georgia, She was born to the late William P. and Zora Mae King Oliver on September 5, 1923. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was retired from sewing department of Best Mfg., and was preceded in death by her husband the late Rev. Hugh C. Thomas, a daughter the late Sandra Annette Thomas, and a number of Siblings.
Surviving are daughters-Carol Magnusson of Rome and Faye Elrod of Gaylesville, AL.; son-Roger Thomas of Summerville; seven Grandchildren; ten Great Grandchildren; two Great, Great Grandchildren.
