MR. JAMES R. SMITH, Sr., age 87, of 4th Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning, February 11, 2015, in the local nursing home. He was born on September 20, 1927, a son of the late Jim and Mattie Hammitt Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late, Vecterel Mae Hawkins Smith on November 25, 2006, also a son, the late Kenneth R. Smith and a daughter, the late Paula Denise Bryan. Mr. Smith was retired third shift Supervisor from the former Bigelow-Sanford Rug Mill.
Survivors include 2 sons, Rick Smith and Eddie Smith; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Bud Davis officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers Neal Black, Will Maples, Eric Ware, Danny Wooten, Ricky Hammond, Jason Gilleland, Bill Esell, Keith Morris. The Family will receive friends Friday, @ the Funeral Home, from noon until the hour of service.
