MRS. MARGARET McCLAIN FULTON, age 89, of
Third Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away, Monday afternoon in a Rome
hospital. She was born in Floyd County, Georgia on January 8, 1927 and
was a daughter of the late Herbert A. and Sarah Irvine McClain. Mrs.
Fulton was preceded in death by her husband, the late John Fulton on July 3,
1996, to whom she was married to for 50 years.
Mrs. Fulton graduated from Gore
High School in 1944 and was valedictorian of her class. She was a member
of the Summerville First United Methodist Church and was retired from the
former Farmers & Merchants Bank (presently BB&T Bank). She was an
active member of the community. She served as secretary/treasurer of the
Summerville Cemetery Corporation and treasurer of the Chattooga County
Historical Society for many years. She was a member of several
organizations and loved to play cards on Thursdays.
Mrs. Fulton is survived by her two sons, Greg Fulton of Summerville and Robert
Fulton of Spring Hope, North Carolina, her daughter, Ruth Cordle of Pike Road,
Alabama, her sister, Eugenia Smith of Americus, Georgia, several Grandchildren,
Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21st, at 2:00 P.M.
from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Dr.
Ed Judy officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active
Pallbearers Allan Fulton, Jonathan Fulton, Christopher Cordle, Steve Smith,
Keith Register, and Daniel Cook; Honorary Pallbearers will be the Triangle
Sunday School Class of Summerville First United Methodist Church. The
Family will receive friends Friday, October 21st, from 12 noon until
the funeral hour, at the Funeral Home.
