Mr. Leonard Smith

MR. LEONARD SMITH, age 88, of Dogwood Circle, Lyerly, Georgia passed away Sunday afternoon, April 7, 2019,  at his residence.  Born in Menlo, Georgia on August 7, 1930, he was a son of the late Robert (Bob Lee) Smith and Lula Truman Smith Pinion.  Mr. Smith was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church, a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War, was retired Post Master of the Lyerly Post office, and was a member of Lyerly Lodge #338 F. & A.M.  He was preceded in death by his wife, of 64 years, the late Betty Marie Harrison Smith, Parents, 10 siblings, Robert Lee Smith, Jr.Harold Bayne Smith, Elsie Louise Smith- Daniel, Vivian Marie Smith, Jasper Leon Smith, Wilburn Edwin Smith, Georgia Beatrice Smith, William Lawrence Smith, Betty Laura Smith, Evelyn Delores Smith.

            Surviving are nieces and nephews, Barbara Massey Reece, Kelly and Jeff Floyd, Grace, Sophie, Leighanne, Noah, and Jesse; Barbara Daniel, Bruce and Stephanie Daniel, Grant and Garvin; Linda and Brian Guthrie, Danny, Amber, Dustin, Ian, and Ryan; Debbie and Phil Rich, Billy, Jenny, Jimmy, and Jonathon; Eddie and Jerri Massey, Vanessa, Lee, C.E., Zaidee, and Sammy; Brad and Beth Harrison, Carol Taylor, Dianne Smith, Greg Harrison, Jean Harrison, and Paul Harrison.

            Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13th, at 3:00 P.M. from the Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Gillespie and Rev. Phil Rich officiating, with Lyerly Lodge #338 F & AM rendering Masonic rites, interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Shanklin Attaway Post #5 of Rome.  Mr. Smith will be in state at his residence #175 Dogwood Circle, off Oak Hill Road, Lyerly, Georgia, where the Family will receive friends from 2:00 until 6:00 P.M. Friday.  Flowers or donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital are appreciated.

            Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements for Mr. Leonard Smith who passed away Sunday.
