MR. SIDNEY A. (BUTCH) LANIER, JR., age 71, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Sunday morning, August 8, 2026, in a Rome hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Lanier was born October 3, 1954, in Summerville, Georgia, to the late Sidney A. (Buddy) Lanier, Sr. and Dora Ann Lanier, who survives. He was a member of the Summerville Presbyterian Church, PCA and retired Enviromental Analyst for Georgia Power.
Surviving are His wife, Suzann Lanier; daughter, Alexandra Lanier Sanford (Jacob); son, Sidney A. Lanier, III; granddaughter, Lanier Sandford; mother, Dora Ann Lanier; sister, Joanna (Steve) Lively; brothers, Steve (Ginger) Lanier and Scott (Missy) Lanier; several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 10th, at 3:00 P.M. from the Summerville Presbyterian Church, PCA, with Rev. Bob Eckardt officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Monday, from 1 until 3 P.M. at the Church.
