MRS. LOUISE NELSON GLADNEY, age 97, of Hwy. #48-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.  A native of Berryton, Georgia, She was born to the late Robert Lee and Vashti Bailey Nelson on November 1, 1915.  Mrs. Gladney attended the Berryton Church of God and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Ben F.-“Brownie” Gladney, son, the late Lamar Gladney, daughter, the late Joyce Virginia Haygood, and sisters, the late Roberta McGraw and Opal Wilson.

Surviving are daughter-in-law-Montez Wilson Gladney; granddaughter and spouse, Kaye & Preston Greer; great grandchildren, Will Greer and Kailen Greer all of Summerville; special nieces, who helped care for Mrs. Gladney, Mildred Cordle and Mildred McGraw; nephew, Ollie (John) McGraw; several Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

Broome, Jerrie Ann Henderson Watson

JERRIE ANN HENDERSON WATSON BROOME of Trion, Georgia died January 15, 2013.  At the time of her death she was a resident of Our Country Home, a private care facility in Lafayette, Georgia. She was born in Trion Hospital on October 13, 1938, oldest daughter of the late Berry Gordon and Mabel Henderson. Survivors include her four children, Leisha Dawn Watson Ehrenhalt of Atlanta, Dana Lynn Watson Young and son-in-law Adam of Lafayette, Georgia, Bradley Eugene Watson of Boulder, Colorado and Hugh Taylor Watson of Asheville, North Carolina, in  addition to a brother, Johnny Clarence Henderson of Lafayette, Georgia and a sister Billie Jean Henderson Stovall of Woodbury, Georgia, 9 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 19^th at 1:30 PM at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in Summerville, Georgia, conducted by Dr. Warren Morehead, followed by a graveside service at the Chattooga Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lawson, Mrs. Leona Webb

MRS. LEONA LAWSON, age 91, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, in the local nursing home.  A native of LaGrange, Georgia, She was born to the late Luther Cleveland and Ola McCormick Webb on December 31, 1921.  Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, the late Lewis Levi Lawson, a son Jessie Shuman, Jr., and sisters, Frances Abercrombie and Dorothy Allmon died previously.

            Surviving are daughter-Lillian Daniel of Trion; son-William Thomas Shuman of Gainesville; brother-in-law-Leonard Allmon of Lindale; grandchildren-Cindy Clark, Rhonda Stowe, Lisa Parks, Tommy Shuman, Jonathan Shuman, & Jessie Lamar Shuman; nine Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MRS. PATRICIA ANN LANGSTON, age 65, of Alabama Avenue-Cloudland, Georgia passed away Friday, January 11, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.  A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born to the late Kirby Smith and Jimmie Sue Green Smith who survives.  Mrs. Langston was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Allen Langston; Daughters Josie Burrage and Cindy Tishaw; Great Granddaughter Alyssa Freeman; Brother Kenneth Smith.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law: Margie & Don Dabney and April & Stephen Fowler; son and daughter-in-law Scotty & Misty Langston; mother-Jimmie Sue Smith; sister-Peggy Baty; brother and sister-in-law Tony & Gloria Smith all of Cloudland; Nine Grandchildren; Three Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

MRS. MILDRED MAE SHROPSHIRE, age 84, of Powder Springs, Georgia, former resident of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Wednesday evening.  A native of Aurora, MO., she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Connie Marie Childers Forrester.  Mrs. Shropshire was a retired nutritionist for Cobb County Schools and Baptist by Faith.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Shropshire, a daughter, Rebecca Marie Penn, and sons-Julian Lloyd Shropshire and an infant son; Fourteen Siblings.

Surviving are daughter-Cathy Ritchey of Woodland Park, COL.; son-Wesley Shropshire of Bluffton, S.C.; brother-Lawrence Forrest of Aurora, MO.; grandchildren-Trish Mardis, Nicole Brooks, Josh Ritchey, John Shropshire, Madison Shropshire, William Shropshire; seven Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

MR. AARON MICHAEL DOOLEY, age 30, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday (January 4, 2013) afternoon from injuries received in an automobile accident near LaFayette, Georgia.  Born in Rome, Georgia on November 15, 1982,  he was an electrician.

Mrs. Peck was born on February 25, 1959, in Chattooga County, Georgia to Greta Payton and Tom Johnson. She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, the late Tom and Dot Johnson and her step-father, Jim Nicholson. MRS. ONA BEE HURLEY, age 85, of Adairsville, Georgia, formerly of Summerville, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, in a Rome hospital. Born in Boaz, Alabama on March 28, 1927, She was a daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Mattie Gardner Wilson. Mrs. Hurley was Church of God by Faith, and was employed by Harriett-Henderson Mills in the winding department retiring several years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Fred Billie Hurley. Surviving are daughters-Wanda Brady of Adairsville, Nancy Harris of LaFayette, Freddie Thomas of Roberts Dale, Al., and Debbie Hare of Andalusia, Al.; sons-Ronald Hurley and Donald Hurley both of Adairsville; 13 Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive. MR. RUBEN J. JOHNSTON, age 61, of Highway #48, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, in a Rome hospital, after a brief illness. He was a lifetime native of Chattooga County, Georgia, born on November 5, 1951 to the late Julius Vernon (Bud) Johnston and Mary Alice Hackler Johnston. He spent the majority of his life in the logging profession, and was a Baptist by Faith. Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by a sister, the late Shirley Sentell and brothers , the late Gene & Joe Johnston. Surviving are His loving wife of more than 30 years, Thelma E. Johnston; children-Matthew Johnston of Fort Payne, AL., Kim Campbell of Kentucky, Kristy Johnston and Jeremy Johnston both of Lyerly; brothers-Fred & Don Johnston both of Summerville, Frank Johnston of Trion, and Roger Johnston of Centre, AL.; 12 Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews. MRS. VIRGINIA B. TUCKER, age 80, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012, in the local nursing home. Born in the Chelsa Community of Chattooga County, Georgia on August 18, 1932; a daughter of the late Brown and Ethel Denton Wofford. She was a lifetime member of Menlo Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. The former owner/operator of Tucker Grocery Store, later working as creeler @ Mohawk Industries, and also was a CNA in health care. Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Lee Roy “Bud” Tucker on July 12, 1994, brothers-the late LeRoy Wofford and Captain Bobbie Wofford, and a brother-in-law-the late James D. Baker. 

 Surviving are Her children & spouses-Marsha & Bob Farrow, Dale & Carolyn Tucker; grandchildren-Ashley Farrow, Autumn & Brian Baggett, Megan & Cassey Ray, Savannah Tucker; great grandchildren-Michaela Baggett, Brianna Baggett, Brandon Baggett, Connor Ray, Ella Ray; sister & brother-in-law-Martha & Jerry Strickland; brother & sister-in-law-Buddy & Hazel Wofford; several Nieces & Nephews.

MR. JAMES MILLER, age 64, of Maplewood Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012, at his residence. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, He was born to the late Fred C. and Ruth Benson Miller on May 26, 1948. Mr. Miller was retired from Southeastern Industries and a Veteran of Viet Nam serving in the U.S. Army.
