Mr. Wallace Gregory (Greg) Maxwell

MR. WALLACE  GREGORY (GREG) MAXWELL, age 64, passed away Saturday,  September 3, 2016 surrounded by his family.  He was a Baptist by faith, and was the former owner of Maxwell’s Grocery,  The Video Store,  Maxwell’s Restaurant,  and co-owner of Otasco.  He was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on August 31, 1952; a son of the late Ruby Smith Maxwell and Wallace H. Maxwell.

            Surviving are His daughter, Valerie Burdick; three grandchildren, Raven, Laken, and Rowan Burdick; brother, Randy Maxwell; sisters and brother-in-law, Sandra and Jerry Tallent and Glenda Maxwell; two nieces, Amber (Travis) Hutcheson and Brooke (Brian) Cigainero; two nephews, Dr. Gabe Tallent and Matt Maxwell; one great nephew Heath Hutcheson.

            Graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 7th,  1:00 P.M.  in West Hill Cemetery, with Rev. David Romine officiating.  Pallbearers will be Dr. Gabe Tallent, Travis Hutcheson, Brian Cigainero, Matt Maxwell, Robbie Smith, and Mark Smith.  Honorary Pallbearer Ron Williams.

Mrs. Neva V. Hawkins

MRS. NEVA V. HAWKINS, age 105, of Old Highway #27, Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016.  She was born on January 15, 1911daughter of the late William T. and Cora Hall Westbrooks.  Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by husband the late James Gordon Hawkins, sons, the late James Taylor Hawkins and Ronald Fay Hawkins, and daughters, the late Jo Gould, June Till, and Dorothy Zerkle.

            Surviving are daughter, Margie S. Rose of Trion; son, James Clyde Hawkins of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Wayne King, Brian Hawkins, Kelton Hawkins, Regina Brady, and Randa Hawkins;  Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services were held Friday, August 19, 2016, at 11:00 A. M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Ministers Hugh Glaze and Jim Huskey officiating, interment in Hall Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers: Robbie Johnson, Wayne King, Scott Sparks, Rodney Lankford, William Campbell, and Greg Baker.  Honorary Pallbearers: Thurman Day, Bobby Hayes, Doyle King, Gordon Lee Boyd, Kenneth Parker, LaBron McWhorter. In lieu of flowers the Family request contributions be made for funeral expenses.

Mrs. Lavone Vivian Cordell



            MRS. LAVONE VIVIAN CORDELL, age 82, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, in a Rome hospital.  Native to Chattooga County, She was born to the late Emmett and Gertrude Tucker Kellett on November 18, 1933.  Mrs. Cordell was a member of West Summerville Baptist Church, retired from the Creeling Department of Mohawk, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Calvin Ray Cordell.

            Surviving are daughter & son-in law, Pam and James Harvey; son & daughter-in-law, Stephen Duff & Lisa Cordell; brother, Larry Kellett all of Summerville; grandchildren, Matt Cordell, Denise Grant, Stephanie Morgan, Crystal Cordell, David Ray Cordell, and Travis Cordell; several Great Grandchildren.

            Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 7th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Lavonne Humphrey officiating, Interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers will be David Ray Cordell, Joe Morgan, Scott Ward, Matt Cordell, Emmett Kellett, and Danny Goss. Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Tucker, Stacy Tucker, Justin Blackmon, Anthony Grant, Bill Elsberry, and members of West Summerville Baptist Church. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday, from 6 until 8 P.M.

Patricia Ann Hunter Williams

PATRICIA ANN HUNTER WILLIAMS, 71, of Leesburg, FL., passed away June 22, 2016.  She was born March 3, 1945, in Chattooga County, Georgia to John Henry Hunter and Fannie Mae Allmon Hunter.  Mrs. Williams was of the Baptist Faith and attended Victory Outreach Church.  She spent most of her life in Chattooga and Gordon Counties before moving to Florida.  She was preceded in death by Parents and a grandson , Seth Laney on December 23, 2003.

            She is survived by husband, Delmer Williams, whom she married November 14, 2001; five children, Jeffery (Sharon) Pierce, Pigeon Forge, TN, Darlene (Frank) Barnhill, Gainesville, GA, Tammie Pierce Barron & Brad Edwards, Adairsville, GA, DeWayne Williams, Tammy (Marty) Hampton, Leesburg, FL; two sisters, Kathleen Hunter Moon, Rome, and Sandra Hunter (Mike) Richardson, Rutledge, GA; 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.

            A Memorial service was held at Victory Outreach Church, Leesburg, FL. on June 24, 2016.  Beyers Funeral Home & Crematory had charge of arrangements.  A Local Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 4:00 P.M. from the J.  D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Brother David Evans officiating.

Mrs. Judith Wright Becker

MRS. JUDITH WRIGHT BECKER, age 73, of Roberts Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at her residence following an extended illness.  Mrs. Becker was born in Ft. Payne, Alabama on December 29, 1942, a daughter of the late Rufus “Toby” and Geraldine Hall Wright.  She was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church and retired pattern designer from Best Mfg. Company.  Mrs. Becker was preceded in death by her husband, the late James J. Becker, Sr.

            Surviving are daughter, Melody D. Becker of Trion; sons, James J. Becker, Jr. and Richard W. Becker both of Summerville; sister, Mary Tripp of Trion; brother, Donald Wright of LaFayette; grandchildren, Reisha D. Hoffman, Kayleigh Becker, Josey Becker, and Kiersten Becker; great grandchildren, Kelsey Weaver and Scarlett Purvis; several Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 16th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
