Mr. Pedro Guzman

MR. PEDRO GUZMAN, age 48, of Poplar Springs Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016, in a Rome hospital.  A native of Mexico, He was born on March 6, 1968 to the late Antonio and Esperanzo Guzman.    Mr. Guzman was owner/operator of Guzman Concrete.

            Surviving are wife, Maria Hemandez; daughters, Christina Guzman and Ginger Guzman; sons, Pedro Guzman and Omar Guzman; granddaughter, Natalia Guzman; four Brothers; four Sisters; several Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral service Thursday, December 29th, at 2:00 P.M. from Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Rome, interment in Guzman Cemetery.  Visitation Thursday 1:30 until 2 P.M. at the Church.

Miss Mary Ellen Martin

MISS MARY ELLEN MARTIN, age 64, of Lyerly Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016, in a Rome hospital.  A native of Summerville, Georgia, She was born on April 1, 1952, to the late Holland Martin and the late Beth Smith Martin Barkley.  Ms. Martin was a member of South Summerville Baptist Church and formerly worked for Salmon Butane Gas and Southern Pathology.  She was preceded in death by a niece, the late Laurie Diane Martin.

            Surviving are sister & brother-in-law, Dorene & Bobby White of Dalton; brother & sister-in-law, Sid & Marsha Martin of Norwood, North Carolina; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Memorial service will be held Monday, January 2, 2017, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Sid Martin and Rev. Bill Grissett officiating.  The Family will receive friends Monday, January 2nd, from 11 A.M. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.  The Family request no flowers and suggest contributions to a charity of choice.

Mr. James H. Burkhalter, Jr.

MR. JAMES H. BURKHALTER, JR., age 79, of Hair Lake Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at his residence.  A native of Round Mountain, Alabama, He was born October 12, 1937, to the late James H. Burkhalter, Sr. and Nora Belle Ledbetter Burkhalter Davis.  Mr. Burkhalter was retired from Inland of Rome and had served in the U. S. Army.

            Surviving are His wife, Linda Gorham Burkhalter; son-James Grant Burkhalter; grandchildren, Cayla Burkhalter, Trace Burkhalter, and Evan Burkhalter; great granddaughter, Ashlynn Burkhalter; sisters, Ruth (Don) Alexander of Summerville, Joann Derusha of Trion, and Nancy Lambert of Summerville;  several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral service will be held Friday, December 23rd, at 1:00 P.M.from Graveside in West Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Mickey Skates officiating, active pallbearers Clifford Hughes, James Hughes, Tommy Hughes, Freddy Hughes, David Ledbetter, and Donald Blackwell; honorary pallbearers Hearth Hospice.  The Family will receive friends Thursday, December 22nd, from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mr. T.W. Lovelock

MR. T. W. LOVELOCK, age 66, of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Saturday evening, December 10, 2016,  at a Rome hospital.  A native of New York, New York, He was born to the late William Lovelock on July 10, 1950.  Mr. Lovelock was a building contractor and Veteran of Viet Nam.

            Surviving are wife- Cathy Lovelock; son Matthew Lovelock; sister-Sharon Wilson of Fl.; several Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

            Graveside service will be held Saturday, December 17th, at 11:00 A.M. from Lyerly Cemetery.

Mr. John B. (Johnny) Echols, Jr.

Mr. John B. (JOHNNY) ECHOLS, Jr., age 77, of Hilltop Drive, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at his residence.  He was born in Summerville, Georgia on August 11, 1939, to the late John Berry Echols, Sr. and Elsie Hawkins Echols Johnson.  Mr. Echols was owner/operator of Echols Appliance in Summerville, was a fireman with the City of Summerville and had served as Fire Chief for many years.  He was a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.  Mr. Echols was preceded in death by his wife the late Pamela A. Tawzer Echols.

            Surviving are daughter & spouse, Terri & Tim Young; sons & spouse, Greg & Karen Echols and Jim Echols; sister & spouse, Honey & Dale Housch; grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, and Rachael Echols; Emily, Hannah, and Ethan Young; Aile and A. J.  Echols; Four Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3rd, at 2:00 P.M. from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery, with Dr. Ed Judy officiating.  Active Pallbearers Ethan Young, Matt Echols, Nathan Flood, Ben Housch, Eric Housch, and Casey Mann.  The Family will receive friends Saturday after 1:00 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers the Family request contributions to the City of Summerville Fire Department.
