Mrs. Laura H. Dean

MRS. LAURA H. DEAN, age 73, of Dry Valley Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016, afternoon at her residence, following an illness.  Born on December 7, 1942, She was a daughter of the late O’dell and Nellie Shaw LeMaster.  Mrs. Dean was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Jerry Dean.

            Surviving are sons and daughter-in-law, David Dean and Michael (Mike) and Stacy Dean; grandchildren, She’rie Taylor, Samantha Ledford, Rachel Dean, Matthew Dean, and Ethan Dean; great grandchildren, Elena Ledford and Kristerfer Hoodlet; sister, Jane LeMaster; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Laney and Debbie Dean; several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins; and a host of Special Friends also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9th, at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Helton officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Ray Laney, Larry Wells, James Hughes, Kevin Bailey, Gary Norton, and Ronnie Stephens; Honorary Pallbearers the Ladies Sunday School Class of New Antioch Baptist Church.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 until 9 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

WILSON

     MRS. ELLEN WILSON, age 92, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday (May 24, 2016) morning in an Armuchee hospice center.  A native of Berryton, Georgia, She was born to the late Bruce Youngward Bynum and the late Velma McGraw Bynum Adams on November 26, 1923.  Mrs. Wilson attended Berryton School, was a waitress at the former State Restaurant and later deli supervisor at the Summerville Hurley’s Food Center.  She was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church, the Dorcus Sunday School Class, and for many years a faithful member of the Adult Choir.  Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, the late Charles B. Wilson, and siblings, Mary Bynum, Vesta Bynum, Russell Bynum, Betty Shireman, Louise Ivey, and James Bynum.

     Surviving are Daughter and Spouse, Phyllis & Earle Rainwater; Grandchildren, Tracy (Tracy) Rainwater, Schawna (Vince) Collier, Clint (Amy) Rainwater; Great Grandchildren, Carrie Elizabeth Martin, Emily Marie Rainwater, Lauren Elizabeth Rainwater, and Abbie Lynn Rainwater; several Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27th, at 11:30 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Summey, Dr. David Hunter, Rev. Tim Evans, and Chaplain Michael Holt officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Tracy Rainwater, Schawna & Vince Collier, Clint Rainwater, Paul Clayton, Bobby Groce, Dr. Gary Smith, the wonderful Nurses & Staff of Mount Berry Hospice, members of Chattooga Nutrition Center, and the Dorcus Sunday School Class of Summerville First Baptist Church.  The Family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Richard Lamar Copeland

MR. RICHARD LAMAR COPELAND, age 68, of Sagebrush Lane, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016, morning in a Rome hospital.  Born on September 1, 1947 in Milledgeville, Georgia, He was a son of the late Charlie and Wessie Jackson Copeland and Jim and Ola Anderson.  Mr. Copeland was Baptist by Faith, was retired from heating and air conditioning, and a Veteran of Viet Nam serving in the U. S. Army.

            Surviving are His wife, Sandra Copeland; sons, Brian Copeland and Brit Copeland; granddaughter, Brooke Copeland; grandsons, Nick Copeland and Noah Brit Copeland; sisters, Catherine Potter and Emma Lou Pullen; brothers, Carl Anderson and William “Fuzz” Anderson; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Wednesday @ 2:30 P.M. from graveside in Greenhills Memory Garden with Pastor Casey Bramlett officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Nick Copeland, Noah Copeland, Joey Carnes, James Anderson, Farrell Anderson, and Billy Clark.  Military Honors by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post Number 5, Rome, Georgia.  The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 until 2 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Mr. Benny Matney

MR. BENNY MATNEY, age 67, of West Elm Street, Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning at his residence.  A Chattooga County, Georgia native, He was born to the late James and Ethel Mae Murdock Matney on June 13,1948.  Mr. Maney was Baptist by Faith and retired from Defenders @ Mount Vernon.

            Surviving are daughters, Joyce Matney and Katlyn Matney; sons, Cody Matney, Michael Matney, Stacey Matney and Tracy Matney; sisters, Kay Hamby, Rachel Ashworth, and Jeannie Matney Roberson; brothers, Ray Cundiff, Jackie Matney, Wayne Matney, and Bubba D. Matney; special friend and care giver, Darlene Youngblood; Step-Mother, Cora Lee Matney; several Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.

            Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 12th, at 4:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Thursday, from 2 P.M. until the hour of service.

Mr. Joseph Lee (Joe) Evett

MR. JOSEPH LEE (JOE) EVETT, age 33, of Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 28th, 2016, at his residence.  Born on September 28, 1982, a son of Vickie Stoker Davis and Bobby Evett, who survive.  Mr. Evett attended the Berryton Church of God and was worked in lawn service with his father.  He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, the late Amos Stoker, Sr..

            Surviving are daughters, Isabella Evett and Mallory Evett; former wife, Cathy Sims; mother & step father, Vickie & Wayne Davis; father & step mother, Bobby & Debbie Evett; sister & brother-in-law, Heather & Chris Stewart; paternal grandparents, Robert & Carolyn Evett; maternal grandmother, JoAnn Stoker; several Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30th, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Brother Bill Cox officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Shawn Stoker, Kevin Stoker, John Ratledge, Chris Stewart, Chris Phipps, and Josh Ashworth.  The Family will receive friends Saturday from 1 P.M. until the hour of service.
