Mrs. Saralyn Sue Thomas

MRS. SARALYN SUE THOMAS, age 85, of Old Highway #27, Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Her residence.  She was born in LaFayette, Georgia on November 3, 1932, a daughter of the late William Russell (Tut) Parker and Margaret Opal Hall Parker.  Mrs. Thomas was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the denim finishing department of Riegel Textile Corporation; She was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Roy Pierce Thomas and sons, Roy Thomas, Jr. and William Max Thomas.

            Surviving are daughters and spouses, Susan and Carl Martin, Lisa and Rickey Hughes, Beth and Jimmy Houser, and Lori and Smokey Howell; sister-in-law, Goldie Patty; grandchildren, Kevin Thomas, Amanda Thomas, Adam Thomas, Suzanne Martin, Sally Martin, Daniel Calhoun, Abbey Winters, Cassidy Houser, Caity Beth Houser, Suzanne Howell, Alexis Howell, Gabe Howell; Nine Great Grandchildren, Four Great Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews; special caregiver, Sheila Driggers.

            Funeral services will be held Saturday (September 15th) at 12:00 noon, from the Welcome Hill Baptist Church with Pastor, Brother Terry Shores and Chaplain Ricky Studdard officiating, interment in West Hill cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Daniel Calhoun, Cassidy Houser, Gabe Howell, Kevin Thomas, Bryce Martin, and Adam Thomas; Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Welcome Hill Baptist Church and all Friends.  The Family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.  Mrs. Thomas will be in state at the Welcome Hill Baptist Church Saturday, from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon.

Mr. Joseph Houston (Joe) Potter

MR. JOSEPH HOUSTON (JOE) POTTER, age 87, of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, at his residence.  Mr. Potter was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 30, 1930, a son of the late William Joseph and Elsie Ragland Potter.  He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department and a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict.  Mr. Potter was a member of Lyerly United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by Parents and a brother, the late Bill Potter.

            Surviving are His wife, Minnie Louise (Kathryn) Potter; daughter, Debbie Carnes; sister, Margaret Jean Wyrick; brothers, Jim Ragland and Nick Stoner; grandchildren, Kimberly and Eric Brown, Joey and Amanda Carnes, and Bob Carnes; Five Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Marshall Bryan and Eric Brown officiating, interment in the Family plot of Lyerly Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers Austin Carnes, Brady Carnes, Rayburn Mitchell, Billy Stallings, Buddy Blalock, and Eddy Ellenburg; Honorary Pallbearers the Adult Sunday School Class of Lyerly United Methodist Church.  The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.  The Family request no flowers and suggest contributions to the Lyerly Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 55, Lyerly, Georgia-30730.

Ms. Gwenetta Jean Brock-Stephens

MS. GWENETTA JEAN BROCK-STEPHENS, age 56, passed away August 27, 2018, in an Decatur hospital.  She was born in Trion, Georgia on March 15, 1962 to the late Ralph H. Brock, Sr. and Alma Jean Marshall Brown.  Ms. Stephen was a Nurse.

            Surviving are sister, Rita Diane Parker of Washington; brothers, Ralph H. Brock, Jr. and Jeffery L. Brock both of Lyerly.

MOSELEY


MR. DANNIE F. MOSELEY, age 92, of Highway #114, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, in a Rome hospital.  He was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on October 8, 1925, a son of the late Fred and Treva Mae Mitchell Moseley.  The oldest member of Berryton Baptist Church, where he has served as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Treasurer, and Deacon; he loved and cherished each member.  A Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart.   He enjoyed telling family and friends of his experiences and journeys overseas; always having the desire for the next generation to understand the importance of fighting for your country and what you believe in.  He retired from 26 years service at Bigelow-Sanford. He was a loving Paw Paw, enjoying time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by Parents, sister, Rachel Moseley, niece, Katherine McArthur, sister-in-law, Hazel Moseley, son-in-law, Larue Mitchell, and brothers-in-law, Rance VanPelt and Hershel Myrick.

            Surviving are His loving wife of 70 years, Charlotte Moseley; daughters & sons-in-law, Joan & Dennis Ivey and Jan & Josh Bryan; brothers sisters-in-law, Aaron Hugh “A-hugh” Moseley, Freddie “Fred” & Joyce Moseley; sisters, Imogene VanPelt and Dorothy ”Dot” Myrick; grandchildren, Wendy & Dee Price, Adam & Jessie Ivey, Hope & Harrison Couch, and Heather & Austin Hatcher; great grandchildren, Haley, Savannah, & William Price, Landon, Easton, & Cullen Ivey; special Nieces and Nephews.

            Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D.
