MS. TERESA ANN (TERRY) GENTRY, age 52, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday morning, November 30, 2012, in a Rome hospital. She was born in Summerville, Georgia on April 11, 1960, a daughter of the late Robert Joseph Gentry and Sarah Ann Wells Gentry who survives.
Besides her mother, Sarah Ann Wells Gentry of Summerville, Ms. Gentry is survived by a sister and brother-in-law Sherrie and Steven Helton of Summerville; Brother and sister-in-law John and Teresa Gentry of Cartersville. Nephew, Will Gentry and Niece, Eryn Gentry. Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 2nd, at 3:00 P.M. from graveside in West Hill Cemetery with Ministers’ Jeff Burns and John Paul Burns officiating. Active Pallbearers John Gentry, Steven Helton, Michael Herring, Brian Payton, Jeff Burns and Charles Gentry. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Sunday from 1:00 until the service hour.

DR. EARL BEATTY, JR., age 92, of Fort Valley, Georgia passed away Monday, November 26, 2012. Born in Summerville, Georgia on December 11, 1919 to the late Dr. Earl Beatty, Sr. and Addie Willard Beatty. A graduate of Darlington School and Emory University School of Dentistry, He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the Army as Regimental Dental Surgeon of the 508th Parachute Infantry. He saw combat in Europe and served as General Eisenhower’s Honor Guard at USFET Headquarters in Germany after the war ended in 1945. He remained in the Reserves and was transferred to the Air Force with service in Korea and Viet Nam until retirement in 1973 with the rank of Colonel. Dr. Beatty was a member of numerous dental associations, serving as President of the Central Dental Society in 1967. He was an elder in the Fort Valley Presbyterian Church, a Mason, Shriner, and member of many other civic organizations. He was preceded in death by first wife, Martha Rackley Beatty and second wife, Nita Wilder Graham Beatty.
Surviving are son and wife, Earl (Jean) Beatty, III; stepson, James E. Graham; four Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 1st, at 11 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, interment in the Family lot of Summerville Cemetery with full military honors. The Family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to Darlington School, Rome, Georgia.

MRS. MATTIE M. BROOME, age 95, of West Armuchee Road, Subligna community, Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012,
at her residence. She was born in Walker County, Georgia on July 25, 1917, a daughter of the late John M. and Martha Edwards Fowler. Was preceded in death by Her husband the late Faye H. Broome. She was a member of the Subligna Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters-Charlotte Chapman of Subligna, Shelia Bridges of Ringgold, and Debra Jackson of West Armuchee; sons-Marion Broome of Calhoun, Jackie Broome of East Armuchee, and Billy Broome of Summerville; 15 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 25th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Subligna Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Bishop and Rev. David Pruitt officiating, interment in Subligna Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Landon Hair, Jeffery Hair, Kevin Chapman, Don Jackson, Adam Jackson, David Broome, Sean Broome, and Brad Broome. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday from 5 until 8 P.M.

MRS. WILMA NIX TOLES, age 89, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Monday, November 12, 2012, afternoon in the local nursing home. A daughter of the late James William (Will) and Eula Williams Nix, she was born on March 9, 1923 in Chattooga County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Charles Fletcher Toles, Sr. to whom she was married September 20, 1947 also preceded by two sisters and Six brothers. Mrs. Toles was retired from the sewing department of Best Manufacturing, Menlo, and a member of Best’s Silver Club. Mrs. Toles was a faithful, and the last surviving charter member of West Berryton Faith Temple.
Surviving are son & daughter-in-law Charles, Jr. and Jo Ann Toles of Menlo; Grandchildren-Clark & Melissa Miller; Bradley & Julie Wolfrum, Heather McClung, Farrah McClung, Lindsay Patty, & Jimmy Patty; eight Great Grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Estelle and Lamar Toles and Iris Toles; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14th, at 4 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann and Rev. Denny Smith officiating, interment in Alpine Cemetery. Active Pallbearers- Nephews; Honorary pallbearers the Adult Sunday School Class of West Berryton Faith Temple. Her Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 P. M. until the hour of service @ Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

MRS. MABLE CUNDIFF, age 84, of Back Penn Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday morning at her residence. A daughter of the late Dewey and Mary Gentry Padgett, she was born on July 5, 1928 and was preceded in death by her husband the late John A. Cundiff, Jr. on April 21, 1995, and a son the late William Holt. Mrs. Cundiff was Church of God by faith.
Surviving are sons-Jimmy Cundiff, Johnny Cundiff, Ray Cundiff all of Summerville, and Robert Cundiff of Arab, Alabama. Daughters- Linda Bray and Kay Padgett of Summerville. Sisters- Odell Hudgins and Mildred White of Dalton. A brother Charles Padgett of Sugar Valley, Georgia; 13 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at 11 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. David Burris officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Jamie Cundiff, Sr., Jamie Cundiff, Jr., Bobby Cundiff, Kelly Bray, David Cundiff and Chris Bray. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M.

Elizabeth Wilks
After a long and joyous life, Elizabeth Gravlee Wilks passed away on November 1st at a family residence in Summerville, Georgia. Longtime resident of the Birmingham area, Mrs. Wilks was predeceased by her husband Robert Hobson Wilks.
Mrs. Wilks is survived by her son Robert Bradley “Bob” Wilks of Birmingham; her daughter Nell Wilks Farrar and son-in-law Arch Farrar of Summerville, Georgia; two grand-daughters, Challis Elizabeth Farrar Latta with her husband Andy Latta of Gainesville, Georgia; and Mary Catherine Farrar of Summerville, Georgia.
A descendant of the Gravlee-Nalls and Newton-Chambliss families of Fayette County, Elizabeth Gravlee was born on November 9, 1921 in Newtonville, Alabama. She graduated from Fayette High School prior to entering the University of Alabama where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education Degree in 1944. Her career in education continued for many years as she taught high school classes in home economics in Fayette County, Talladega County and Jefferson County. In 1968, she was named Supervisor of Vocational Home Economics for the Jefferson County Board of Education, and began a career in which she thrived and maintained high standards for the vocational home economics departments. Always growing and learning, she earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of Montevallo in 1973.
Following her retirement in 1987, Mrs. Wilks continued to enjoy her fellow educators through her membership in Delta Kappa Gamma. She also found time for travel abroad as well as to famous locations in the United States. In addition, she enjoyed time with family, friends and church groups. She was a longtime resident of the Altadena Valley area and member of the Lakeside Baptist Church.
A memorial service was helds Saturday, November 3rd at 11 o’clock in the morning at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home located at 10355 Commerce Street, Summerville, Georgia. Family received friends in the hour prior to the service. Interment was at Memory Hill Cemetery in Albertville, Alabama immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to Lakeside Baptist Church, 2865 Old Rocky Ridge Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35243.
