Veronica Ann “Ronnie” Richter
Veronica
Ann “Ronnie” Richter completed her earthly journey on February 7, 2019 after a
valiant fight against cancer. Ronnie was born in Newport News, Va to Carroll H.
and Anne Bonday on February 25, 1942. She lived in the Tidewater area of
Virginia into adulthood. She met Dick Richter, the love of her life through her
brother Carroll Anthony Bonday. Before they even met, they had noticed each
other across the fence since their backyards touched. It was a fateful meeting
because Ronnie had attended Catholic School through high school and at one
point, even considered becoming a nun. Dick and their future four children are
glad she reconsidered and the two were married on September 2, 1961.
Their
57 years of adventure together took them to live in Virginia, Kentucky,
Georgia, Tennessee and then back to Georgia where they found a home for over 30
years in Summerville. Ronnie fell in love with her community and its people.
She loved her work in the Chattooga County School System as she helped youth
develop their potential. She loved her church, Summerville First United
Methodist and served in many roles through the years as well as being one of
their strongest prayer warriors.
She
is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Carroll and her daughter Karen
Richter May.
She
is survived by her loving husband, Dick Richter. Her three sons: Richard
(Donna), Jay (Alice) and Stephen (Lynda). Son-in-law: David May. Grandchildren:
Hillary May, Elizabeth Richter Tarver (Zack), Ryan May, Brandyn May, R. Lee
Richter, Sarah Richter, Jackson Richter, Anna Richter, Eli Richter, Max Richter
and Augie Richter. Her sister Diane Hux, Sister-in-law Linda (George) Davies,
Brother-in-law Gene (Gail) Richter, special sister Liz Johnson and many nieces
and nephews.
The
family has been overwhelmed by the love and support of the pastor and people of
Summerville First UMC, the people of Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church. We
will always be thankful to all the friends and family that have loved and
supported Ronnie in all the places and through all the times of her life
especially, Paula Davis for helping take care of things on the mountain.
A
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday February 16th at 2:00 pm
with the Rev. Dr. Ed Judy officiating. The family will then receive friends at
3:00 pm in the fellowship hall. The family will also be available to receive
friends one hour prior to the service.
In
lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to
Summerville First United Methodist Church P.O. Box 187 Summerville, Ga 30747. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
