YOUNG. . . . .

MR. JASON ALLEN YOUNG, age 35, of Peach Street-Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2008, in a Rome hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia on November 7, 1973 He was a son of the late Pamela Sue Ball Young and Richard Allen Young who survives. He was a truck driver.
Surviving is His father-Richard Allen Young of Trion.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

GREEN……….

MS. PAMELA GREEN, age 48, of Old Hwy 27-Trion, Georgia passed away Monday morning (February 23, 2009) at her residence. Ms. Green was born in Gadsden, AL on June 10, 1960- to the late John and Helen Chapman Cantrell.

Surviving are daughter Kelle Green of Trion; son Randy Green of Summerville. Two sisters: Ramona Cantrell of Rainesville, Al and Paula Raye Bartlett of Lake City,FL. One brother: Ray Cantrell of Ft. Payne, AL. Two grandsons: Jordan Green and Andrew Hinton both of Trion. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Visitation was Thursday (February 26th) from 7 until 9 P.M. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date; contact Family for these details.

SPIVEY. . . . .

HAVENS TAYLOR SPIVEY, 102, long-time resident of Gainesville, died December 10, 2008. Memorial services were held February 15, 2009 @ 2:30 P.M. at the Summerville Presbyterian Church, 141 West Washington Street, Summerville, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Floyd and Catherine Taylor; her husband, Herman E. Spivey, Sr.; three sons: George Floyd, H. Olin, and Herman Jr.; brothers: Seiss and Zelotes Taylor. Survivors include: son, Mark Allen Spivey, Norfolk, VA; daughter, Margaret Catherine Spivey, Kissimmee, FL; sister: Rachel Taylor Green, Jacksonville Fl; 6 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

BLALOCK. . . . .

MRS. WANDA ORR BLALOCK, age 62, of Lyerly Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday (January 17, 2009) at Her residence following a brief illness. Born in Trion, Georgia on March 9, 1946 to the late Roy and Nora Crane Orr. She was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church and was retired Teacher from the Trion School system. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband the late Michael Blalock.

Surviving are son-Josh Blalock of Summerville; beloved “special children”, Luis Gonzalez and Belle Gonzalez; special friends and sisters in Christ, Grace Sunday School Class of Dry Valley Baptist Church.


Funeral services were held Monday (January 19th) at 2:30 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver and Rev. Waydell Howell officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. BLACKMON. . . . .

MR. CHESTER BLACKMON, age 71, of Rose Circle-Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday night (January 14, 2009) in a Rome hospital. He was born in Paulding County, Georgia on June 28, 1937 to the late Rufus Harrison Blackmon and Lillian May Evans Blackmon who survives. Mr. Blackmon was Holiness by Faith and was employed in the Weaving Department of Mt. Vernon Mills. He was preceded in death by a brother the late Wayne Kenneth Blackmon and sister-the late Emma Jean Burroughs.

Surviving are wife-Bonnie Blackmon; mother-Lillian Blackmon of Paulding Co., GA.; daughters-Shelia Stanfield and Ava Hunter both of Trion; sons-Lamar Blackmon and Robin Blackmon both of Summerville; sisters-Annett Mauldin of Summerville, Betty Toris of Rex, and Gail Strickland of Henry Co., GA.; brothers-Leon Blackmon of Atlanta, Roy Blackmon of Conyers, Donnie Blackmon of Paulding Co., Ricky Blackmon of Cartersville, Rufus Blackmon of Rex, and Billy Blackmon of Rome; 11 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday (January 17th) at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Junior Evans and Rev. Billy Wright officiating, interment in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Greg Stanfield, Sr., Greg Stanfield, Jr., Dewayne Edwards, Bill Epps, Chris Tapp, and Billy Clark.

Pullen, Mrs. Sera Adams

MRS. SERA ADAMS PULLEN, age 92, of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Saturday (January 10, 2009) in a Rome hospital. A native of Austell, Georgia She was born to the late Vandiver Tilden and Elizabeth Tecorah Sanders Adams on August 10, 1916. Mrs. Pullen was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church, a Homemaker, and was preceded in death by Her husband the late Jodie A. (Joe) Pullen.

Surviving are Her beloved sons & daughters-in-law-Joe & Jan Pullen of Lyerly and Van & Phyllis Pullen of Summerville; grandchildren-Andrea & Guy Ingram of Atlanta and Allison Pullen of Summerville; great grandchildren-Drew Pullen and Wil Ingram; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday (January 12th) at 4:00 P.M. from the Summerville First Baptist Church with Rev. Roger McDonald and Dr. Kenneth Summey officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Jim Parker, David Parker, John Chance, Tommy Rabun, Dennis Bryant, and James Moore; Honorary Pallbearers the Phideles Sunday School Class of Summerville First Baptist Church. Ruyan, Mrs. Hazel Idell

Mrs Hazel Idell Runyan age 81, of Given Street Summerville Georgia passed away Saturday January 3rd, 2009 in a Rome hospital. A native of Dekald county Alabama, she was born to the late Jessie Monroe on August 21st, 1927. Mrs Runyan was Baptist by Faith and retired from the spinning department or the former Geneva Cotton Mill.

Surviving are husband, Bobbie C. Runyan; daughter, Debbie Ponder of Summerville; son, Roger Swanson Fife of Alabama; half brother, Gene Monroe of Alabama; four Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 6th, at 1:00 pm at the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Odum officiating. Interment will be at the Greenhills Memory Garden. Active Pallbearers are Dustin Ponder, Dwight Ponder, Roger Swanson, Chris Swanson, Steven Swanson and Darrell Shamkles. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.

HEROD, Mrs. Mildred L.

MRS. MILDRED L. HEROD, age 92, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 28th in a Rome hospital. She was born in Dekalb County, Alabama to the late Oscar Shamblin and Olive Elizabeth Reece Henderson on April 14, 1916. A member of South Summerville Baptist Church Mrs. Herod was retired from Montgomery Knitting Mill and Supply Clerk for the City Summerville. She was preceded in death by her husband the late John Cecil Herod, a son the late David Herod; sisters-Mae Henderson, Gladys Baker, Jessie Cox, R.V. Miller; brothers-Tommy Henderson, Grady Henderson, and Dee Henderson also died earlier.

Surviving are Her son & daughter-in-law, Donnie and Barbara Herod of Summerville; grandsons-Eddie Herod, Richie Herod, Stacy Herod, Jeremy Herod, and Tony Butler; seven Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (December 30th) at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor David Craven and Pastor Ken Westmoreland officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. IVEY, Mrs. Louise

MRS. LOUISE IVEY, age 87, of Ramey Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday (December 26, 2008) in a LaFayette nursing home. A native of Chattooga County, Georgia She was born to the late Bruce Youngward and Velma McGraw Bynum on June 28, 1921. Mrs. Ivey was a faithful member of Berryton Church of God, retired from the Winding Department of the former Harriett-Henderson Cotton Mill, and was preceded in death by her husband the late Thomas Lee Ivey, grandson, Ivey Lee Cooper, son, the late Bill Ivey, brother, the late Russell Bynum, and sister, the late Betty Shireman.

Surviving are Her daughter & son-in-law, Sandra & John Rhodes of Bellville,Texas; grandchildren, Darryle Ivey, LaFayette, Tony Cooper, Menlo, Tommy Cooper, Texas, and Chuck Ivey, of FL.; great grandchildren, Nicole Cooper, Colleen Cooper, and Isabella Cooper, Samuel Cooper; sister, Ellen Wilson of Summerville; brother, James Bynum, Anapolis, MD.; several Nieces and Nephews.

HOLCOMB

MR. WILLIAM EUGENE (GENE) HOLCOMB, age 84, of Farmersville Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday (December 23, 2008) morning in the local nursing home. A native Chattooga Countian He was born to the late Zenas Eugene and Ruby Naomi Hawkins Holcomb on September 29, 1924. Mr. Holcomb was Baptist by Faith, retired Supervisor in the Inspection Department of Georgia Rug Mill, and a Veteran of WW II serving in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife the late Jewell Inez Arthur Holcomb.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law-Rebecca H. and Ben Dunaway; son and daughter-in-law-William Joe and Judy Holcomb; step daughter and spouce-Linda and Cecil Terry of Armuchee; sisters-Dorthea (Dot) Scoggins of Subligna and Elaine Teems of Fairfax, S.C.; grandson-Ben F. Dunaway, Jr.; step grandchildren-Daryell Lawson of ALA., Gary Dollar-U.S. Army Spec., Kim Hill and Cindy Mitchell both of ALA.; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday (December 27th) at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev.
