Mr. Larry Stanford Blackmon

MR. LARRY STANFORD BLACKMON, age 64, of Hammond Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at his home.  Born in Cartersville, Georgia on June 9, 1953, He was a son of the late Jimmy and Lois Mulkey Blackmon.  Mr. Blackmon was retired from Harriett-Henderson Mills and attended the Community Holiness Church.   He was preceded in death by brothers, the late Jerry and Jimmy Blackmon.

            Surviving are His wife, JoAnn Edgeworth Blackmon; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Allison Blackmon; sisters, Doris Lee, Kathy Hardman, and Lillie Knight; brother, Ronnie Blackmon; Five Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 17th, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Steven Collins officiating.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M.

Mrs. Redonna G. Green

MRS. REDONNA G. GREEN, age 73, of Halls Valley Road, Trion, Georgia, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, in the local nursing home.  Born in LaFayette, Georgia on December 2, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Buford H. and Mary Ruth Millican Smith.  Mrs. Green attended Berryton Baptist Church, was retired from Century Glove, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Larry Eugene Green, sisters-the late Faye Buffington and Lou Payne, brothers-the late Connie Smith and Joe Smith.

            Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa & Greg Blalock and Tina & Tim Abernathy; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Amie Green; sisters, Diane Blackwell and Cindy Cotton; brother, Wayne Smith; 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

            Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 14th, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jerry Rutledge and Pastor Mike Odum officiating, interment in Lyerly Cemetery.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M., at other hours the Family will be at the residence of a grandson, Randall Abernathy, #115 North Washington Street-Summerville, Georgia.

Mr. Roy Rome Howell

MR. ROY ROME HOWELL, age 78, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in a Fort Oglethorpe hospital.  A native of Decatur, Alabama, He was born on October 9, 1939, to the late Hershel B. (Harvey) Howell and Erma Mae Turley Howell. Mr. Howell was a retired Tree Surgeon. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Louise Craig Howell on May 8, 2000; sons, Michael Howell and Lavon Howell, and a sister, Evelyn Fowler.


         Surviving are Sons, David Lyons and Terry Lyons; Sister Barbara Tingle; several nieces and nephews also survive.
        
         Funeral services will be held Saturday January 13, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. from  the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Wynn officiating; Interment in the Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be David Lyons, Terry Lyons, Rusty Smith, D.J. Lyons, David Fowler, and Stephen Fowler.  The family will receive friends on Friday January 12, 2018 from 6 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mr. William Cody Pierce

MR. WILLIAM CODY PIERCE, age 20, of James Street, Summervile, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, January 7, 2018, evening.  Born in Floyd County, Georgia on August 28, 1997.  Cody was previously employed in the lashing department of Mount Vernon Mills.

            Surviving are, His mother, Sylvia Pierce; grandparents, Stanley and Linda Pierce; girl friend, Hannah Hopkins; brother, Austin Pierce; several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins also survive.

            Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 10th, at 2:00 P.M. from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery, with Rev. Billy Wright officiating.  Active Pallbearers Chris Pierce, Patrick Greene, Jason Scoggins, Daniel LuAllen, Dakota LuAllen, Darin McGuire, and Michael Chainey Warnock.  The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 til the hour of service, at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Kenneth D. (Ken) Dodd

MR. KENNETH D. (KEN) DODD, age 60, of Gadsden, Alabama, formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, at his residence, following illness.  Born on September 29, 1957 in Summerville, Georgia, Ken attended Chattooga County High School, afterward began his career in gospel music.  He was a talented musician, singer, and song writer in gospel music; traveling with several well known gospel music groups.  Ken enjoyed singing and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ; He also played other types if music, however he returned to his first love, gospel music.  Ken was also in management in the insurance business and enjoyed working in radio as a gospel D. J. for several radio stations.  He attended The Church at Wills Creek in Gadsden, Alabama. and is preceded in death by wife, Diane Dodd and father, Frankie M. Dodd.

            Surviving are wife, Cindy Dodd; mother, Lucille Fuller; sons, Kenneth D. Dodd, Jr., Kevin Dodd, Kerry Dodd, and Kyle Dodd; sister, Brenda Williams; brother, Malcolm Dodd; 10 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces, and Nephews.

            Memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 3:00 P.M. EST, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Smith officiating.  The Family will receive friends also on Tuesday from 2 until 3 P.M. EST, prior to the service.  The Family request no flowers, suggest contributions to the Shrine Hospital.
