Mr. Tollie Fay Hurley
MR. TOLLIE FAY HURLEY, prominent Summerville, Georgia businessman and chairman of Southeast First National Bank passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014. Mr. Hurley was born February 21, 1934 in Summerville, Georgia to the late Tollie Ross Hurley and Anna Elsberry Hurley. He was a 1953 graduate of Summerville High School where he served as captain of the Summerville High football team that broke a 13 year losing streak to Trion High. Mr. Hurley was in the grocery business of 44 years, owning stores, with his father and brother, in Summerville, Trion, and Fort Payne, Al. He served as Chairman and CEO of Hurley Food, Inc., served on the board of directors of Dixie Savings Stores, Inc. of Chattanooga, TN., a founding board member, in 1967, of First National Bank; also served as chairman of the board of the bank and chairman of the board of Summerville/Trion Bancshares, Inc. Mr. Hurley was a past member of Summerville/Trion Rotary Club and the City of Summerville Industrial Development Board. He also served on the board of Bank of Adairsvile, Inc., the People’s Bank of Crawfordville, GA., Adairsville Bancshares, Inc. and was one of three investors who purchased Bank of Lowes in Lowes, KY. and moved it to Rome, GA. under the name of Heritage First Bank.
Surviving are His wife, of 61 years, Linda Sue Woods Hurley; daughter and son-in-law- Suzanne Hurley Bowman and Timothy E. Bowman; sons and daughter-in-law, Edward F. Hurley, William B. Hurley and Jamie Keeling Hurley; brother and sister-in-law-Benjamin Gene Hurley and Marceline Mobbs Hurley; and ten grandchildren-Alexandria Dawes Hurley, Katherine Cutler Hurley, Madeline Grace Hurley, William Evan Bowman, Haley Bowman Barbaro, Jennifer Bowman Rogers, Kelsey Bowman Wiggins, Jacob E. Bowman, Kendall Keeling, and Kaitlyn Keeling.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 1st, at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, in Summerville, GA., at 2 PM with the funeral service to follow at 4 PM with Dr. Jerry Mahan and Rev. MR. FLOYD EARL DAVIS, JR., age 60, of Commerce Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Born in Illinois on January 21, 1954 was a son of the late Floyd Earl Davis, Sr. Mr. Davis was retired from the dye house of Mt. Vernon.
Surviving are sons-Earl Davis, III of Rome, Matthew Davis of Kennesaw, and Patrick Davis of Trion; sisters-Rosetta Janes of Tennessee and Pat Skiorshi of Illinois; brother-Samuel Davis of Illinois; special friend-Melissa Cook; several Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

MR. JAMES E. COX, age 80, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, in the local Nursing Home following an illness. Born in Polk County, Georgia on October 22, 1933, He was a son of the late Fonnie and I. V. Carnes Cox. Mr. Cox was Methodist by Faith, a Veteran of Korea serving in the U.S. Army, and was retired office manager for Inland Container in Rome.
Surviving are sisters-Ella Cox of Summerville, Helen Walker of Atlanta, and Mallene Houston of Kennesaw; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MRS. DUSTY C. BARTLETT, age 33, of Cummings Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Born in Floyd County, Georgia on September 22, 1980, she was a daughter of Rochelle Choate and Joel Brumlow who survive. Dusty attended the New Hope North Baptist Church and was a restaurant server and cook.
Surviving are husband, Tim Bartlett of Trion; parents, Rochelle Choate of Rome and Joel Brumlow of Trion; children, Timothy Levi Brumlow and Haven Marshelle Bartlett; sisters, Clory Smith of LaFayette and Mary Brumlow of Rome; brother, Joel Sidney Brumlow of Rome.

MR. FRED BUDDY JOHNSON, age 73, of Tunnell Hill/Armuchee, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, afternoon in a Dalton, Georgia hospital. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on March 18, 1941, He was a son of the late Fred William and Flora Plott Johnson. Mr. Johnson attended the Floyd Springs Baptist Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was retired truck driver for Bentlin, Inc. He was preceded in death by sister, the late Willadene Hamill and an infant daughter the late Melissa Johnson.
Surviving are His wife, Amy Smith Johnson; daughter-Vicki Johnson of Rome; three Grandchildren, six Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

MRS, LORINE ARNOLD, age 61 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born October 8, 1952 in Summerville, Georgia, a daughter of the late Dan and Madie Ledford Priest. Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her first husband Mike Ray on July 7, 1974, a son , Charlie Ray on September 30, 1974; her husband, Rick Arnold on May 29, 2012; brothers Riley Priest, Ollie Dan Priest, and Ed Bates; sisters Guy Lee McGuire and Essie McGuire.
Surviving are sisters-Kathryn Padgett and Inez Blackmon both of Summerville; foster sister and mother Peggye Reynolds and Mary Hicks of Sand Rock, Alabama; step sons Lamar Arnold of Summerville John Arnold of Rome; Nieces, Nephews, and pets, Socks, and Her special baby, Lady.
In accordance with Her wishes, Mrs. Arnold was cremated and ashes will be interred privately. A memorial service will take place at a later date.

MR. FARRELL PORTER BEENE, age 63, of Adams Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, evening at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born in Trion, Georgia on April 8, 1950 to the late Cecil Porter Beene and Dora Elizabeth Usry Beene who survives. Mr. Beene was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and was retired automobile body repairman.

MS. ROBIN YVONNE WARE, age 50, of 6th Avenue, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Ware was born in Summerville, Georgia on July 31, 1963, a daughter of the late Robert Ware and Charlotte Maxine Perry Montgomery, who survives. She was a member of the New Spirit and Truth Church and before retirement, due to ill health, was employed at Jim’s Family Restaurant for twenty plus years.
Robin’s surviving, Loving Family are mother-Maxine Montgomery of Summerville; sons & daughter-in-law-Seneca Sanchez & Allison Ware of Ft. Payne, AL. and Fabian Suttle of Summerville; sisters & brother-in-law-Berlin Ware, Teicher Montgomery, & Perrie Montgomery all of Summerville and Shasta & Dennis Hall, Jr. of Snellville, GA.; granddaughter-Taegan Dollar; special cousins-Gail Smith & Diane Ford; special friend-Cassandra Sims. MRS. SHIRLEY DEAN McGUIRE, age 76, of Trion, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in a LaFayette Nursing Home. A native Chattooga countian, she was born on July 24, 1937 to the late Jessie Roy, Sr. and Annie Mae Dean McGraw. She attended Living Waters Ministries, was retired from Mount Vernon Mills after 34 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was preceded in death by sons- Marty McGuire, Melvin McGuire and Johnny McGuire; sisters- Gail Sispy, Aline Cordle and Martha Johnson; brothers- Archie McGraw, Buddy McGraw and Jessie Roy McGraw, Jr.

A native Chattooga countian, She was born on April 15, 1952 to the late Marcus Ray Vanpelt and Catherine Reed Vanpelt, who survives. She attended the Dry Valley Baptist Church, was a CNA in health care, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Daniel (Jim) Hawkins, Jr. and a son, the late Christopher Brian “Chris” Hawkins.
Surviving are daughter-Terri Marlow of Trion; mother-Catherine Reed Vanpelt of Summerville; granddaughters-Emily Katlin Marlow, Leigh Anna Marlow, and Maggie Marlow; a Sister and Nephew also survive.

MR. JOHNNY MACK BUMGARNER, age 66, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was born in Summerville, Georgia on June 13, 1947 to the late Carl Franklin and Annie Lois Roberts Bumgarner. Mr. Bumgarner served in the U. S. Army and the U. S. Navy. He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills and was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Bumgarner was preceded in death by brothers- Wilbur Bumgarner and Charles Sisk.

Mrs. Gladney was a member of New Generation Christian Church, retired self-employed barber, and was preceded in death by her husband the late William Eugene (Gene) Gladney and son E. P. Gladney.

He was a brick mason, member of New Antioch Baptist Church, served two tours in Viet Nam, Veteran in the U.S. Navy C.Bs; where he acquired the rank of E-5, Builder Petty Officer 2nd Class, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Insignia, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. MR. WILLIAM HAROLD KENDRICK, age 75, of Orchard Hill Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away at his residence. A native of Chattooga County, He was born on October 6, 1938 to the late Otto Thomas and Emmie Teague Kendrick. Mr. Kendrick served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, was a member of Lyerly Lodge #338 F & AM, was retired from General Electric, and together with his wife, the late JoAnn Wilkey Kendrick, owned and operated the former Round Table Restaurant. He was Baptist by Faith and in addition to his Wife was preceded in death by a brother, the late Tommy Kendrick.
Surviving are daughter-Cheryl Ann Mobbs of Summerville; son-Thomas Harold Kendrick of Summerville; grandchildren-Allison Joanna Harris, Bianca Diane Mobbs, and Tylen Harold Kendrick; sister-Meriana Romantz of Warren, Mich.; brothers-Charles Kendrick and Donnie Kendrick both of Rome; several Nieces and Nephews.

Mr. Bobby J.R. Tapp
MR. BOBBY J.R. TAPP, age 78, of Maplewood Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, February 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born in LaFayette, Georgia on March 18, 1935 to the late Hoyle and Dorothy Raines Tapp. He was retired truck salesman.
Surviving are sons-Benny Wayne Tapp of Huntsville, AL. and Michael Joseph Tapp of Georgetown, GA.; 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Sunday (February 16th) at 3:30 P.M. from the Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Weaver officiating. The Family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Freddie Eugene Reynolds
MR. FREDDIE EUGENE REYNOLDS, age 79, of Bittings Avenue, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday evening in the local nursing home. A lifetime resident of Summerville, He was born on July 28, 1934 to the late Gordon and Lillian Tudor Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds was a retired automobile mechanic and for many years was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Wanda Carol McCaulie Reynolds in 2006.
Surviving are daughter-Kimberly Smith of Ringgold; sons-Jackie Lee Reynolds of Ringgold and Tim Reynolds of Summerville; brothers-Henry Reynolds of Trion and Jerry Reynolds of LaFayette; grandchildren-Jonathan Reynolds U.S. Army, Ciera Reynolds, and Justin Smith of Ringgold.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions for final expenses.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Robert Hugh Hawkins
Mr. Robert Hugh Hawkins, age 81, of Cloudland, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, evening in Austell, Georgia. A native of Cloudland, He was born on February 4, 1933 to the late Riley Monroe and Susie Alma Chislom Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church. He supervised the construction of Nuclear cooling towers at Tullahoma, Tennessee and Scottsboro, Alabama. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He loved his Family and Lookout Mountain and was a lifelong proud resident of Cloudland, Georgia. He was preceded in death by the following siblings-Gordon Hawkins, Sidney Hawkins, Myrtle Willingham, Fred Hawkins, Sudie Mae Hawkins, Ralph Hawkins, Thelma Wofford, Sue Reeves, Max Hawkins, and Riley Hawkins.
Surviving are His wife-Catherine Gorham Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tim Sims, Kennesaw; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Hugh and Tracy Hawkins, Cloudland; grandsons-James Alexander Sims and Andrew Robert Sims; great grandson-Colton Tanner Sims; sister-Marie Wofford; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 16th, at 1:30 P.M. from Graveside in Cloudland Presbyterian Cemetery, with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating, active pallbearers Lee Hawkins, Steve Wofford, Mark Wofford, Tony Jones, Dennis Bryant, Albert Palmour. The Family will receive friends Saturday evening, at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mr. Rickey Louis Peek
MR. RICKEY LOUIS PEEK, age 61, of Sizemore Road-Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, January 31, 2014, in a Rome hospital. Born in Ft. Payne, Alabama on December 4, 1952, a daughter of the late Billie Brewster Peek. He was a member of Springcreek Baptist Church, and was retired from the finishing department of Mt. Vernon Mills. Mr. Peek was an avid music lover, singing and playing in numerous bands for most of his life. He was preceded in death by step father, the late Robert Stancil.
Surviving are wife-Patsy Peek; step mother-Linda Stancil; son-David (Sherri) Peek of Calhoun; grandson-Brett Peek; sisters-Darlene Henderson of Ft. Payne, AL., Jan (Randy) Prince and Lynn (Steve) Evans all of Summerville, Gayle (Mark) Waycaster of Calhoun; brother-Michael (Cathy) Stancil of Adairsville; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 2nd, at 3:00 P. M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn
officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers-Michael Lee Stancil, Johnny Ingle, Wilson Mann, Eric Evans, Mark Waycaster, Randy Prince, Steve Evans, Tommy Minard; Honorary Pallbearers-all former Band Members.
